Oh, I don’t know @PriceofMagic. I think Neal was trying to fill a void in his life and was overcome by fear of seeing Emma again. And there was Tamara all shiny and happy and joyful and so he clung to her in an effort to lesson the guilt he feels. I don’t think it was genuine at all.
I think Neal did love Tamara to the extent where he wasn’t willing to drop her just because Emma had come back into his life.
