I just re-watched the episode and I noticed some things.

The hat only worked when Emma touched Regina’s arm. I thought that she touched the hat itself.

When Gold summoned the wraith, in the forest, there were two medallions. There was the one he used to summon the wraith and the other, was around the wraiths neck.

I don’t believe Regina very often but I think when the wraith started sucking out her soul, it messed with her memory as well. You know when she’s clearly lying because she has a smug look on her face. When she asked, “Who’s Jefferson?” That smug look was not there. It was totally blank.

Good pick up on noticing 2 madallions. I thought the same thing- Regina seemed sincere when she asked “Who’s Jefferson?” Until a friend found this:

Had a thought. Being that you saw 2 medallions, that could explain the discrepancy in the symbols. Some ppl were saying that it was the Alchemical symbol for Arsenic. While the symbols do vary, to some degree, they don’t vary that much. The Alchemical symbol for Arsenic is two triangles overlapping each other…one open one closed. The symbol on the medallion that we could see on OUAT looks more closely like the Alchemical symbol for Antimony. Or maybe it’s just a made up symbol and I’m over analyzing lol!

I thought there was only one medallion, like the wrath formed around the one Rumple used, picking it up as it solidified, if that makes any since, and the differences in the symbols was because we were seeing different sides of it at different times (the heads and tails of it, if you will).

Purely out of curiosity, Gypsy, Where did you get the info for the Alchemic symbols?

There could be two different symbols on the medallion.

I agree with Faux Pax on the above.
I always felt Regina was lying- her tone changed/was to polite 😉

I agree with Faux Pas. There’s only one medallion.
I don’t think Regina lost her memories because if she had forgotten Jefferson, then how would she have remembered the hat in the first place? I think she was just being extra careful. She doesn’t want Emma to know too much especially about someone like Jefferson. They could be very powerful against the queen. At first, I thought she forgot, but upon rewatch I decided otherwise. Initially I had thought that the curse was reversing on her and erasing her memories since she had previously been unaffected. However, I don’t think that is the case anymore.
