Day 10- Least Favourite Guest Character (Appeared in 3 episodes or less)
I am surprised no one said it…
Bo peep!!!!!!
Horrible acting, especially the cockney accent. Was the character supposed to be drunk?
And just the fact they used a nursery rhyme character in FTL.
Just no.
( I don’t like them using Frankenstein, Alice in Wonderland and other stuff that are not fairy tales either, but I really do draw the line at Nursery Rhymes!).
I actually did mention her in my post above. I agree with Watcher that the idea of Bo Peep as a warlord had potential, but they botched the execution.

Peter Pan. I really loved watching this twisted little kid, and Robbie Kay did a superb job with the role. What made Pan such a fun adversary is that, unlike most villains on this show, he wasn’t redeemable. He was purely power hungry and selfish. Not even his own son was enough for him, as he traded him away for youth. We clearly saw where Rumple got his talent for manipulation from, too. Like Rumple, Pan played mind games with his enemies.

Well said, Matt. I completely agree. I hated Pan’s character/motives throughout the arc, but Robbie’s acting made him a wonderful villain to watch. It was nice that the writers didn’t give him a sob story to make you pity him more than hate him.

Peter Pan. He was everything that makes a great villain: selfish, cruel, sadistic, dark, abusive, unremorseful. I appreciated that Once tried to get away from their “all villains have a sad backstory’ shtick for Pan. And of course Robbie Kay slayed the role.

But narrowing it down, I’m going to have to go with Peter Pan too. Robbie Kay was amazing in that role and that thing he did with his eyebrows, magical. His acting was phenomenal. Elizabeth Mitchell’s Ingrid is a close second.
Ditto Matt about Pan’s manipulation passing down to Rumple.

I tend to put Regina, Hook, and Rumple in a separate box from the more transient villains–they’re all anti-heroes more than villains at this point, even though they have their villainous arcs and tendencies. Rumple would be the obvious choice for this category otherwise.
So, pushing those three aside, I’m going to go with Cora.
She’s probably one of the most fleshed out of the transient Big Bads, which helps. Her influence throughout the series is palpable, and I love that she helps make monsters and makes them worse. I love how she does evil stuff and believes she’s justified. I love how her ambition drives her. And while I was rooting as much as anyone for her well-deserved death (and hated seeing her with Rumple, though it was less creepy than Zelena…), afterwards I felt like she left quite the hole to fill in the show and I was glad when they found ways to bring her back. Also, her fashion sense…yeah.
She’s pretty much the perfect big bad, and even Pan was a disappointment by comparison for me.

I would say Peter Pan, but his character was too insane for me….so I’m gonna have to go with Cora.
Cora is just the Mother of All Evil….like she’s the mother of the Wicked Witch of the West and the Evil Queen! Even as Queen of Hearts, she had quite the reputation. Given her background…I’d say Jonathan is probably the first betrayal to set her on that path to darkness…I know a lot of people are going to say that she was just a gold digger, but I think she really started to feel something for him. But love screwed her over, and then she really became all about the money…hence why she immediately took the chance with Leopold. Cora wanted that sense of security of both being loved, and being financially well off….but if you can’t have one, just focus on the other…that became her line of thinking.
Princess Ava snitched on her, Leopold kicked her out, she’s back in the slumps of being a Miller’s Daughter. She went to the ball, and you could see real interest between her and Henry Sr, who I think she could have really come to love had she not ripped her heart out. She eventually fell in love with Rumpelstilskin, and yes, I mean genuinely love. But when King Xavier told her love was weakness…I think that brought back the feeling of scorn and betrayal from Jonathan, and she thought she’d be making the same mistake by letting herself fall for another man. Hence the whole “love is weakness” concept is born because Cora was a scorned/heartbroken woman who didn’t want anything to do with love.
Unfortunately because she ripped her heart out to protect herself…she never knew she’d be missing the unconditional love she’d have for Regina. This is where writing issues come in for me…the second she had her heart back, her love for Regina increased 100x over, but when her heart was in her chest back in the day…she abandoned baby Zelena in the woods to give herself her own chance. That was some bad writing for me…I know she was selfish, but with and even without her heart she loved Regina, so with her heart, she had to love Zelena too.
But Cora was redeemed at the moment of death, she recognized her mistakes and her past sins I believe, and realized that Regina would have been enough. Her death is now the second most heartbreaking…Ingrid’s got first place in that area.
I guess I’d really like a flashback episode of Zelena going to Wonderland to confront her mother….so we can get some real answers. But the chances of that happening I know is slim to none.
