That could also come down to the amount of magic it requires since we know she was very low on it in recent SB history. I bet she had to use a lot of her reserves (things she brought over that were magical) to do SOMETHING in this episode, probably put up a barrier thing around the town after visitors stumble into it and goodness knows what else. We’ve only seen her when she doesn’t have a whole lot to use and it seems weird she didn’t bring a lot.

Overall though I’m inclined to agree that I don’t think you can pull enchanted hearts in this world but they did also say that you can make magic from magic (as Regina did to get the apple). It could be a quantity issue or it could just be a land without magic issue. I don’t think she took a heart in SB pre-magic but I’m not 100% either way on ruling it out either, though guessing not.

Normally I’d agree with you, but then we have these pictures:

that seems to tell otherwise to me. Something to ponder, I guess.

Well considering all of that….I go back to my: she used up most of her magic reserves in this episode which is why she basically has next to nothing left in recent SB pre-magic.

Edited: apparently mixing up actors / what roles I thought they would be. Carry on.

I don’t think she could because in this land she can hurt Snow, yet she let MM live, even after Charming woke up and they were having an affair. Also, she never tried to take Emma’s heart, instead she used the apple to poison her.

Can’t think about a reason not do it with MM now, but as far as taking Emma’s heart goes, Regina wouldn’t do something that might’ve clued Emma in the possibility that Henry just might’ve been right about the curse. Furthermore, she couldn’t crush Emma’s heart as her death would automatically break the curse, per Rumple’s design.

huh. Well. That’s interesting. However, Regina has taken many hearts and she brought them with her to SB. Remember Henry found her fault. So for all we know, that’s not Kurt’s heart but someone else’s. Like Graham’s. And the surprised look could be Graham and Kurt storming into her office.

I’d been thinking that the heart she was playing with in those pics was Graham’s, and she was commanding him to catch Kurt for her. Then she hears them coming, and hides the heart just in time before they burst into the room. And after nearly getting busted, she decides perhaps Graham’s heart would be safer if kept in her vault in the future.

I like that idea! Makes more sense as long as Graham never sees the heart it should be fine. I think we’re going to see a very different Regina in this SB flashback; probably one who is a little unnerved and unsure but trying to muddle through.

Maybe Kurt is the missing link between Storybrooke and the outside world. Maybe with his heart, Cora is now able to secure things from the outside.
