So, Rumpel only took up 8 minutes? Oh no! How dare he! 😆

I know! What a camera hog! 😆

That is not the show i want to watch and that was not the show we had first season. There was always Emma, there was always Emma and Mary Margaret even if it was just one scene. There was always a little bit of good in all this, and there was a little bit of good, but there was way too much of not in the first episode, in my opinion of course.
I am fine with Rumpel in his capacity as part of the plot, Regina/Rumpel, the family/Rumpel, Rumpel setting the wraith through. It is the nonsensical Belle scenes that have not a thing to do with the plot that are too much for me. And Belle came back and said she wanted to change him? It was a silly end and i really thought they were going to give her a backbone for a second and have her at least leave until the next episode.
To me the main plot is the family and there should have been more family and way less of the fairytale land part of the episode and less of Rumpel and Belle. All i know was that this was not what i wanted to see and if they are going to continue like that i am just not so sure right not. And it sort of felt like ep 1 was split three ways. Fairytale land, Rumpel and Belle, and the family, so imagine that is what the episodes are sort of going to be like. Like next time we will have Charming and Regina in Storybrooke, Emma and Snow in fairytale land present, and Regina in fairytale land pre curse.

Each character has their own importance to the plot and their own personal relationships (family, spouses, children). That’s why Rumpel is included in nearly every plot. Because he’s part of it. It started with him,and learning about his history and personal relationships is important.

Yeah, I agree. I think it’s quite obvious that the main characters are Emma, Snow, Charming, Rumpel, Regina and Henry. Whenever someone tries to exclude one or more of those characters, I just shake my head. They’re the heart of the show. Their lives and relationships are important. It’s pretty simple.

But when the writers give him a personal backstory or relationship, you think it’s unnecessary. It’s almost as if you he shouldn’t have a backstory or character development at all. 😆
But I guess it has more to do with personal taste. If someone is really into the Charmings, then their interest in other characters only spikes when they’re in a scene with the Charmings. It’s the same with me. I’m really into Rumpel and Regina, so the only time I ever find Emma or Snow interesting is when Rumpel or Regina is involved.
I know, it’s strange, but that’s how the human mind works sometimes.

I agree. I really liked the Rumple scenes. The only scenes that I didn’t like in the first episode were the fairytale land scenes because I was more interested in what was going on in Storybrooke with the characters that we know rather than in fairytale land with characters that we have just met. Had Snow and Emma been sent to fairytale land then we met Philip, Mulan and Aurora,I would have probably liked those scenes a bit more.
All magic comes with a price!

I’m really looking forward to seeing how they manage 3 times with-in an episode.
That sums up in one sentence what I was trying to get at with all my ramblings. 😆 Would they go that route, because that could get really confusing really quickly, especially if they’re jumping between two different FTL timelines in one ep. When they’re just doing FTL and SB timelines in an ep, it’s easy to pick what’s happening when, coz the times look so different. But present day FTL and flashback FTL would look the same, so it could get hard to keep track of what’s happening when.
So wondering about if they’d go that route, got me wondering how all this Cora/Snow/Emma/YoungSnow/YoungRegina stuff could all be worked into the one ep, if Snow and Emma will in fact stay put in present day FTL and meet Cora there. It’d be less complicated if they just jumped back in time and were worked into the Cora/YoungRegina/YoungSnow stuff instead. That’s right, I just said that time travel would make things LESS confusing. 😕 😆

October 8, 2012 at 12:11 am #155887surayyaParticipantThey said they we will spend most or time in 2 places & only a little in the other- changing from week to week.
I didn’t mind the Rumple & Regina stuff- they are core characters. A bit like others I just didn’t enjoy the FTL stuff much- new characters who I didn’t enjoy right off the bat & I wanted to see more of the character development stuff between the Charming’s in particular 😉 -
