Yes, I don’t think that the dad can be anyone but Mysterious Man aka Baelfire. I even looked up the other actors’ pictures that are listed, and none of them look like there’s any chance that they could be the father. Of course, all the fire hints related to Henry’s dad like him being a fireman and his arrow being on fire in the People magazine pictures, and the parallels between the openings of season 1 and season 2 between Emma and Mysterious Man.
Also, if Hook was Henry’s dad, if he could just travel between worlds, then it would be simple for him to leave whatever is left of the Magical Worlds and all the harsh conditions like the ogres coming back and whatnot since he doesn’t seem like the noble type that sticks around to help others but is more of a guy that is about having a good time at least based on the pictures from The Crocodile where it appears he laughs at Rumple in front of young Bae.

Perhaps they have to steal the compass from the giant, but both are racing to be the first one to get it. I think they’ll eventually join forces and use the compass to navigate Hook’s ship back to SB.
Also, the way that “fellow thief” hint is worded makes me wonder exactly which thief wants to marry Emma: Jack/Baelfire or Captain Hook. Perhaps both propose to her at different points in history. While I like the theory about Jack being Baelfire and possibly proposing to a teenaged Emma, it could also be Captain Hook who makes a play for Emma in present-day EF. At first, he may try to romance her simply to get the compass. Even if he’s not serious about marrying Emma at this point, I think Hook will sincerely be besotted by Emma, will eventually purse her romantically and even travel back to SB with her.

There are a lot of good reasons to hope Henry’s biological dad is Baelfire. I think there’s a chance that Captain Hook is Baelfire’s biological dad, which could possibly make Captain Hook Henry’s actual grandfather. Then, to make matters even more complicated, if and when Bae comes to SB, I think both he and Captain Hook might pursue Emma, which would be very strange if they’re actually father and son (maybe unknowingly so).

I think that Captain Hook has been stranded in the present day remanent of the Enchanted Forest for the past 28 years. The synopsis for 2×5 said that Emma and Snow White meet a survivor of the Ogre Wars, whom I hypothesized could be Captain Hook. There’s a clip in the S2 promo mash-up of a long-haried blonde woman with a burgundy-colored jacket sleeve holding a knife to Captain Hook’s throat. If Captain Hook has been stuck in the EF during the curse, it’d explain why he would be so anxious to scale a beanstalk to acquire a magic compass. Both he and Emma would be anxious to leave the Ogre-infested world for SB and they might be scrambling to lay their hands on the compass. I think Emma pulls a knife on Captain Hook at one point, because she wants the compass to go home. Captain Hook might be so taken with a feisty modern woman like Emma that he agrees offers Emma and Snow White passage on his ship back to SB using the magic compass to guide them.
Sadly, I think Cora will join them on their return voyage to SB. I think she and Hook are working together against a common enemy. Both Cora and Hook have the extra motivation to go to SB to get revenge against Rumpel for what he did to each of them.

I could definitely see Hook proposing something to Emma, but I doubt it’s marriage at this point. I do think he’ll try to romance her, but I can’t really see him asking her to marry him unless he was being facetious.

Before I thought that Hook might be Bae’s dad or at least someone other than Rumple because it would make Bae even more like Henry, but also show that adopted parents are wonderful parents too since there’s still a lot of controversy over how they portray Regina’s relationship with Henry and how the show portrays foster care systems in general. Now though, I’m not sure about another who’s your daddy storyline involving Bae only this time with him in another role. I think it might be overkill since they’re introducing so many new mysteries and characters.
Plus, personally I guess I would be a little grossed out if Emma had intimate contact with both Henry’s grandfather and father. I know I may seem hypocritical since a lot of people who don’t want Bae to be Henry’s father complain that it makes everyone too connected, but it’s just weird to me.
Further, while I do think Swanfire will be endgame. This season if Mysterious Man is Bae, he just did not look like a guy who is in the place right now to pursue anyone romantically. Maybe I read him wrong or he’ll change later on in the season to pursue Emma, but he seems resigned to a life of loneliness and even if he gets over that, for at least this season, I think he’s going to be pretty ticked off with Emma about keeping Henry a secret for quite awhile. He’ll probably be get jealous over Hook and maybe whoever else tries to pursue Emma, but other than that, I think there’s too many problems to work out first before he feels confident enough to take the next step.
Sadly, I think Cora will join them on their return voyage to SB. I think she and Hook are working together against a common enemy. Both Cora and Hook have the extra motivation to go to SB to get revenge against Rumpel for what he did to each of them.
Yes, I can see all or at least most of the refugees leaving what’s left of their world and going to Storybrooke on Captain Hook’s boat. I also definitely see Cora and Hook working together against Rumple too, but I think Cora is just going to be against everyone when she gets her power back especially Regina.

I really hope they don’t try and make someone else Bae’s dad. From a storytelling point of view I don’t think it would add anything but a few moments of cheap drama. It would not matter to Rumple and i think it would just cheapen all Rumple did to get to Bae in the eyes of some of the audience.
Also in the promo pics for the crocodile Bae has to be at least four or five and i get the feeling that whatever is going on between Hook and Bae’s mom is a relatively new thing, i mean Hook doesn’t seem like the kind to stick with the same woman for too long, if you catch my drift.
a little aside here: was i the only one who’s mind exploded at the cuteness that was baby!bae?
I have seen some promo pics (was it of this epp?) that show Cora on Hook’s ship. I kinda hope they are working together. One of the things I am dying to see is Regian, the Charmings, and Rumple (if Bae is Henry’s father) all have to team up against one enemy to save Henry. It would just be too epic and I could totally see Cora and Hook doing that if they thought it would get them what they wanted.
Sadly, I think Cora will join them on their return voyage to SB.
If they are going to use the hat Emma made to get back (which seems to be one of the more popular theories) then SOMEONE would have to come along. Assuming that hat works off the same set of rules as Jefferson’s, then the same amount that went through would have to come back.
MM + Emma + wrath = MM + Emma + ???
Emma follows Captain Hook up a beanstalk in hope of finding a magical compass; a fellow thief wants to make an honest woman out of Emma.
Don’t OUAT synopsis tend to follow a pattern. They say one thing about what’s going on in the “real world” and one thing about what is going on in FTL. Going by that logic wouldn’t the “fellow Thief” be in the real world aka the flashback?

I think Rumple is Bae’s real father but his wife did have an affair around the time of Bae’s conception hence why it could be questioned that Bae is Rumple’s biological son.
I agree about Hook. He’s not going to hang around the same woman for too long especially one with a child. I reckon when Rumple sees his wife with Hook, he’ll recognise what is going on because his wife would have form for being unfaithful. I’m guessing this all happens after Rumple had ran from the ogre war he was in so I imagine that his wife will remind him about being a coward.

I think the wraith does count. Three went in so three have to come out. However I don’t think Emma and Snow can use the hat. The hat portal they came through was destroyed so they can’t leave the way they entered. The hat Emma made is stuck somewhere in Storybrooke so Emma and Snow can’t access it. With the exception of Jefferson, nobody knows about Emma’s hat, and Jefferson wouldn’t know where Emma put the hat.
Besides, with the hat out of the equation, it gives the opportunity to explore other ways of travelling between worlds.

Maybe not. Emma couldn’t see his wooden leg when he first showed her so I would imagine that everyone apart from Bae (assuming he’s the mystery man) and possibly younger kids would see him normally.

I just posted this in another thread, but it fits here too…
This magical compass that Hook and Emma are gonna go looking for up the beanstalk, perhaps that belonged to Bae/Peter/Jack, and it’s how he could navigate back and forth between our world and Neverland…
At some point, he had the altercation with the Giant, where Bae/Peter/Jack stole from him, so perhaps the Giant stole his compass in return, or maybe Bae/Peter/Jack just dropped it when he was busy stealing a goose that lays a golden egg…
Bae/Peter/Jack managed to get back to our world one final time, where he stayed, safe from the angry Giant, who had no idea what he had in that compass, so never followed him, (or perhaps the Giant ends up dead). In our world, Bae/Peter/Jack knew he’d be safer, so he stayed, grew up, and met Emma…
Of course, this theory assumes that the beanstalk is probably in Neverland, not FTL, and we’ve been assuming that Hook and Emma are in FTL when they find the beanstalk, not Neverland, so there are some issues. I like the idea that this magical compass is how Peter Pan navigated between worlds though, I mean, why else would Hook and Emma be after it if it didn’t navigate between worlds. And if it was something Peter Pan used, and if Bae was Peter Pan and Jack, then that could explain how Hook becomes involved with the story with the beanstalk.

Good point. Maybe he could walk around in our world unnoticed after all.

Emma and Hook up a beanstalk? Also we get to see about Emma’s past?! You know the fellow thief has to be Henry’s dad.
October 15, 2012 at 4:51 am #156720lilredParticipantAt the very least: we now know how Henry managed to steal Mary Margaret’s credit card without her knowing (apparently for awhile…): thief genes on both sides! 😀
