I adored the exquisite Daddy Emma scene. It was lovely and heartbreaking. But I’m looking forward to hearing what Rapunzel’s story will be. Except, wait we’re back in Storybrook and we’re solving a mystery. A really good mystery. I love it! Oops Rapunzel, where are you? Wow! Cool David Robin Hood scene, kind of odd to see David swiggin from the bottle….. Oh yeah, I forgot, this is the Rapunzel story. Ah, Henry and Regina, very touching, Regina is lovely when she’s with Henry…..oops I forgot this is Rapunzels story I keep forgetting. Rapunzel is gorgeous! Ooh, Rumple, really wicked shave scene, Zalena’s vicious when she talks about appearances covering up what’s rotting on the inside…ah, Rapunzel, oh yeah, this is the Rapunzel story, I keep forgetting.. No, wait, I think this is the hooded mystery creepy guy story. Hook, you’re hiding something. Fess up please, you will be forgiven. If you’re protecting Neal, just fess up. We love you, but there’s something you’re not saying…ah Rapunzel, I keep forgetting this is the (boring) Rapunzel story. Rapunzel, you’re kind of interrupting the main story now and it’s getting annoying. Ooh! Creepy hooded guy is really a great story. The Tower? Hmmmm Wow, if they had named it David and the Hood the forums would have had a blast.
All in all, with the exception of Rapunzel interruupting our main story, I loved this episode. But David could have had a storyline about facing fears with an already existing character, like Archie, or Granny, or Henry, and it would have been more meaningful. They didn’t need Rapunzel. I know the objective is to show that from time to time our heroes cross paths with other fairy tale characters, I get it. On the other hand, I think the problem could be that I was spoiled weeks ago! I hyped her up too much. If I hadn’t known she was coming, Rapunzel would have been a delightful surprise, and I’m sure to the casual viewer, she was.

Liked:
The attempt to give insight into David’s emotions and thoughts. About time. Good mark for intention, but execution was not great. The scene with Emma in the nursery though was good. There was a moment I frowned a bit, it felt slightly unappropriate how David and Emma were reacting to each other (blame the good chemistry between the actors ;)), but on the other hand the thing of the whole scene was, that it wasn’t at all meant to be nice, friendly or comfortable, it was meant to be somewhat off. It was no all happy thoughts for David, it was a nightmare. Not sure if that was intentional, that the tension or chemistry between David and Emma was a tad awkward, if so, brilliant, but sure felt a moment of uneasiness before the scenery changed into scary dark nursery (anyone else had to think of Chucky?) and the vortex showed up.Also the moment between Regina and Henry. No whiny, clingy Regina but one dealing with things as they are at the moment in the best way possible. Liked the softness she showed. And might be a good thing for her to have to get know Henry in a new way.
Oh, and thanks for this:
Emma (to Hook): “Yes, I was in love, so of course I was considering it. As usual, he wasn’t who he said he was, and got my heart broken. That enough humor for you?”
Emma might have jumped into action mode very fast, she is that kind of person, but doesn’t mean she is all over and done with her emotions about what happened with Walsh. Not liked:
The whole Rapunzel story. What was the point? Okay, facing your fears, which of course showed up in a hooded figure revealing after a while itself as yourself (we’re our own worst nightmare, enemies, and so on, there was more to The Grudge though). What did that have to do with Rapunzel? This was not putting their own twist on a fairy tale, this was pretty much just name/character dropping. And the story didn’t make sense. So Rapunzel and her parents were one of those who stayed behind? Thanks to Cora or thanks to Regina’s curse only having taken a limited number of people, just those she choose? And Rapunzel was in that tower too long so she lost count of the years? Uh? Okay, a year can look very long if you have not much of a distraction like no TV or computer and internet around. But who provided for her all this time when it was her own nightmare chasing her into the tower? She had to eat, right? Maybe casual viewers don’t care about such tiny details, but don’t be surprised, if they are more and more confused about what is happening when and where, pre-curse, post-curse, dark-cursed, de-cursed, re-cursed, whatever-cursed, not to mention the realms, Neverland, Wonderland, Netherworld, Black-White-Land, Someworld, Hereland, Thereland… In that sense, it was a good thing that Rapunzel’s story was so irrelevant that no one really needs to care.Oh, speaking of the t-thing: David and Snow didn’t wait long to get to it, did they? Maybe a few days in, a month, yeah, some things are good to do when you’re in stress about rebuilding your kingdoms and dealing with some new foe in form of a skillful wicked witch. Time for lovely distraction. Or did it happen even earlier? Okay, maybe better not think about it at all *rolleyes*

Belle in the shop- Her thoughts are still with Rumple, and the Mrs Gold reference, could a RumBelle wedding be in the future? I hope so.
Rumple being shaved by Zelena- I liked the acknowledgement that Rumple would harm WW if he could. Rumple is still a dangerous man.
Hook calling Snow demanding then trying to cover it- Snow does have her moments where she can be quite demanding and doesn’t see the bigger picture outside herself, so it’s nice for a character to actually comment on this and not see her as St Snow all the time.
Rumple’s escape
Regina and Henry- A nice little scene for the 2 of them.
Dislikes
How gullible Snow is- If someone seems too good to be true, they normally are. Also the way Snow expects David to drop something important like trying to find the WW, in order to meet the new midwife.
The Rapunzel story- It was alright but nothing to write home about.
David calling Snow Mary Margaret- There’s no reason why he would do that unless amnesia Henry was about.

She might think of “Mary Margaret” as her grown-up name, or she might want to put her years as a warrior princess behind her.

WOW, now we can *really* get down to theorizing!
I think one of the most annoying things to me about this episode was A&E’s/Robert Hull’s apparent *COMPLETE* lack of knowledge about women’s anatomy and human gestation periods. Snow wakes up one day, and tells Charming they’re pregnant, and she is SO CLEARLY PREGNANT. Then the next scene has a “9 months later” cue?! In a normal world, it takes at least a month to even maybe think that you might be pregnant (and last I checked Sneezy didn’t bring the Storybrooke pharmacy over with him for Snow to get a pregnancy test) and at least 3 months before you even start showing. As Emma would say, Seriously? Did they make tacos the night before and she just magically knew they had conceived another child and looked 3 months pregnant? Maybe time works differently in FTL, basic math doesn’t work? C’mon.

That bugged me too, but it made me laugh more than anything. I can believe that Snowing started making tacos soon after arriving back in FTL. It was an emotional time, they’d lost so much, so they (literally) embraced being together. But the implication was that that scene was the day after they took up residence in the castle. Snow was admiring the view like it was the first time she’d seen it in forever, and Regina gave Robin the arrows for having helped her break in. So unless they made a baby and Snow magically knew all in that first night back in the castle, it makes no sense.
Maybe Snow was already pregnant before they left SB, before NL even, and fair enough that could have happened, but then why the magical realisation on this particular day? She hadn’t been acting like she thought she might already be pregnant, even in NL when she talked about wanting another baby, and that was only a week ago for them at that point, so she should have been feeling like maybe she was already by then.
But the thing that really made me laugh was that they had a full length shot of a very obviously pregnant Ginny, and tried to pass it off like she’d only just discovered she was pregnant. Then they flashed forward to “9 months later”. So judging by how pregnant she looked in FTL, she’s about 14 months pregnant now. 😛 Seriously, they couldn’t just shoot her from the shoulders up for that, “surprise, I’m pregnant,” scene?
March 25, 2014 at 6:53 am #255410PriceofMagicParticipantCharming had his nightmare, which included the new baby, before Snow told him she was pregnant. Can Charming glimpse the very near future? Charming “failed” to protect Emma from Regina’s curse, is he dreaming that he needs to protect the new baby from another threat (this time Zelena)?

I don’t think he can glimpse the future, I think this might be the case of bad editing. The scene of the dancing almost needs to come right after Snow tells him about the new baby. Make it night instead of day, having Charming dream and then watch the panic.
