Was it just a matter of PP figuring out how Rumple would lose Bae by trial and error?
Possibly. Prophecies are tricky things to figure out.
This NL flashback vs FTL flashback confusion is gonna drive us insane by the time the ep airs.
[adrotate group="5"]I think this flashback takes place after ASOTM’s events. I don’t think the portal was the last time Rumple saw Bae… I think this was. There is no telling WHEN this takes places… 1990 or whatever it is. Maybe Rumple finally tracks down Bae and Bae has been turned against him by the manipulative Pan and he throws the doll at Rumple or something. I do think Rumple will help Bae to escape Neverland, but I also think this is where we will see Bae become Neal. Maybe not this episode exactly but I think this is the catalyst that will set that in motion, getting Bae to our world after decades in Neverland. Bae looks pretty much like the other Lost Boys and is wearing a mask in one of the spoiler pictures of the episode. I could see Bae being pretty darn creepy in this episode, even Felix-like but not quite Pan-like who is just plain freaky.
I’m been pondering the pictures of Rumple with Bae and PP… It could be a vision Bae is conjuring. Remember what PP said to Henry?
“You think you’re the first boy to think his family is coming to rescue him?”
Maybe he has a full on vision of his father rescuing him.
Or maybe Pan is making it happen and makes the vision of Rumple do something dastardly and it makes Bae want to stay in NL, as a lost boy, like he is trying to do with Henry.
Now, if the synopsis with PP^2 in EF leading Bae astray and Rumple going to look for him is correct, we know that’s not a possibility. But maybe both happen? Maybe the EF synopsis happens, AND Bae conjures a vision of Rumple in NL…To parallel Rumple thinking he is seeing a vision of Nealfire?
That’s 3 flashback locations/times. Kind of confusing so I lean toward one or the other… but still. So confusing!

I’m pretty sure Rumple saving Bae is a flashback to FTL. Look at the whiteboard tease that Adam tweeted over the summer:

It says “Confronts…” and then what looks like a possible B for Bae. And then in the tweet below the picture Adam says that the writing in purple is FTL past. So I think that line is Rumple confronting Bae while he’s dancing with PP and the other boys, in FTL not NL.
On a side note, the writing above is in green (for present day) and says “long to live”, which I used to think was about Rumple and his suicide mission but now it’s obviously something to do with David lol.
