“A Curious Thing.” I’m at a loss with this one…
[adrotate group="5"]February 12, 2014 at 1:48 pm #244631HappyEndingsSpectatorThis has to be about the Wizard.
There is a story that starts out like that I thought like I was on my way to the store but I got curious and stopped to see what was happening.

It feels like this title was them trolling at all of the fans who heavily speculate over everything, like ourselves. Anyway, my honest guess is that this will be Glinda’s introduction, since we recently learned she was being cast.

Am I the only one who thought Alice and Wonderland first? “Curious and curiouser”
Maybe it’s about the slippers? They could be “curious items”
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 12, 2014 at 1:54 pm #244637kfchimeraParticipantI googled for references, just to see what came up.
“A curious thing” is the name of a Scottish pop album
It’s the start of a quote form a Lemony Snickett novel about death being a curious thing–
Lemony Snicket > Quotes > Quotable Quote
“It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try and readjust the way you thought of things.”
It is also used in Harry Potter, in a quote about power
“It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well.”
John Verdon > Quotes > Quotable Quote
“It was a curious thing about the past–how it lay in wait for you, quietly, invisibly, almost as though it weren’t there. You might be tempted to think it was gone, no longer existed. Then, like a pheasant flushed from cover, it would roar up in an explosion of sound, color, motion–shockingly alive.” John Verdon
The past is a curious thing. It’s with you all the time. I suppose an hour never passes without your thinking of things that happened ten or twenty years ago, and yet most of the time it’s got no reality, it’s just a set of facts that you’ve learned, like a lot of stuff in a history book. Then some chance sight or sound or smell, especially smell, sets you going, and the past doesn’t merely come back to you, you’re actually IN the past. It was like that at this moment.”
Who even knows what their influence was–but something curious obviously could be linked to something surprising or unexpected in terms of a larger theme, as that’s what is the common element in these quotes.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

And one of the most curious things about them is that they can carry you to any place in the world in three steps, and each step will be made in the wink of an eye. All you have to do is to knock the heels together three times and command the shoes to carry you wherever you wish to go.”

There is this quote from the book about the slippers/silver shoes:
“The Silver Shoes,” said the Good Witch, “have wonderful powers. And one of the most curious things about them is that they can carry you to any place in the world in three steps, and each step will be made in the wink of an eye. All you have to do is to knock the heels together three times and command the shoes to carry you wherever you wish to go.”
February 12, 2014 at 1:56 pm #244641kfchimeraParticipantI don’t know how to edit since I was cutting and pasting quotes, from 4 different sources there, but basically they were from Lemony Snicket (about death), Harry Potter (about power), Verdon (the past) and Orwell (the past). Then something about a Scottish pop album. Those were just random references on Google to the phrase “curious thing”.
So all those seem to be themes we could expect in this season I’d think, power, death, the past–the common element though is what’s curious is unexpected in some way.
