KeymasterRemembered another one: The growth marks of youngBae on the walking stick. Literally on the reminder for Rumple of what he gave up for his son. I have all these feelings about this….

ParticipantUnfortunately, reading Daniel’s spoiler post of the synopsis of the first episode kinda ruined it for me. Most of my shock was spent on reading that instead of on the show itself. However, I did like the episode and think the cast did amazing.
Let’s see the on Henry’s storyline, my favorite part was them jumping off the cliff. I did really like that PP was testing him to make sure it was Henry’s heart he was “seeking”. I think my favorite line is “Let’s play!”, he made “playing” sound so ominous. I think I’m sad to see Greg go. It may be because I like the actor though. I am glad Tamara is gone now. I really didn’t like her.
On Emma’s storyline, I’m just not really into the ‘mother wanting her kid back thing’, I think it was exhausted out the last two seasons.
On Snowing storyline, I just wanted to slap Emma bc of the way she talked to them.
On Regina, I’m glad she turned the mermaid into wood. I’m just curious if the mermaid is going to stay wood, and also what happened to her when they got to the beach. I think I’d like to see Hook and Regina together.
On Hook, I’m glad he’s moving past the revenge thing, Now he can focus more on getting over Milah finally.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Rumple’s “wardrobe change”, and when he told Felix to come out, and he did his waving the hands thing but like he didn’t care anymore, that was awesome. I’m SO curious about the doll though. I don’t think it was Bae’s though. I think it’s something from Rumple’s past before Bae.
On Nealfire, I’m glad to find out what the stick was. Also I thought it was so cute how Rumple marked Bae’s height on there. I thought the lines about Mulan the movie were funny. How did Mulan not know about portals, yet she know’s how to work crystal balls?
I’m curious about the Greg and Tamara storyline though. Although we did find out who the HO was, we didn’t find out how Greg and Tamara are involved. Obviously PP had contact with the outside world, but why would they want to help PP get rid of magic, when he is a magical being. I think the Darlings are somehow involved.
Another question that arose in my mind, was how does Rumple know PP? Hook was the one to recognize Neverland, so obviously Rumple hadn’t been there, so it must of been when PP was abroad. If that’s true , then how did he know Felix? Hmm as Alice says “Curiouser and Curiouser”

ParticipantDo you think maybe Peter Pan had Rumple kidnapped as a boy too?

Great question. I think the history between those two is going to be epic. I actually created a thread for it if you’re interested! https://oncepodcast.com/forums/topic/peter-pan-rumple-neverland-and-the-doll/

ParticipantMy favorite moments were:
1) Emma finally getting angry at Snowing (I’m really going to like them actually confronting their issues this season).
2) Goldstiltskin/Goldstiltskin magicking himself off the boat and killing Tamara
3) Meeting Peter Pan – I was worried about how they were going to make a boy someone even Rumple would be afraid of, but the actor NAILED it, so happy with the casting
4) That the weather was controlled by their emotions. I wonder if that is something that will continue to happen or if it was just cause of the mermaid. And I wonder if Rumple was on the island just like, “Those idiots, WHAT are they doing now?” lol
5) Nealfire in the Dark Castle…..with Rumple’s walking stick and the notches…….and the way he waved it around lol. Love that he’s going to need to use magic to get back to Emma (even though I understand why he hates it obviously). Does this mean he can “do magic” or could any ordinary person have used the crystal ball?
6) Hook’s facial expressions when Emma lectured them at the end. I ship Swanfire but it’s fun watching the way they interact.
My least favorite would probably be……..I honestly don’t have a least favorite for this episode! I am curious about how Robin Hood knows that Rumple let him live. I was under the impression that he and Marian didn’t even know Rumple fired the arrow at them. Must be more to that story that we haven’t seen yet 🙂

ParticipantFavorite Moments:
Emma telling her parents how she feels (I hope that they really explore and resolve those relationships)
Regina and Snow fighting (THAT was a long time coming)
Henry with Peter Pan (and the reveal, although I saw it coming)
Charming’s “That’s my baby!”reaction to Emma’s speech on the beach
Loved the irony of GOAT’s sudden death
Least Favorite
Charming and Hook’s fight seemed a little contrived to me
Hated how we never understood Tamara’s motivations and I was kind of sad for Greg that his separation from his father (at Regina’s hand) put him on the path that lead to his demise.

ParticipantOverall, I really liked this episode. I did feel it was a little disjointed, but loved most of the individual pieces. I think the only thing I really didn’t like was RH saying he owed Rumple one. Sorry but you don’t owe someone who is torturing you anything for stopping. Outside of that I really like:
1. Regina’s snark. She was great. I like snark.
2. I loved both Regina and Emma challenging Snow’s world view.
3. I loved that Snow wasn’t all rainbows and magic unicorns, but showed her tough side and punched Regina..
4. I really liked Hook’s interaction with Regina and Emma, including the looks that past between them at different points. Ex the little shrug Hook gave Regina at the end of Emma’s speech. For me Hook and Regina could be BFFs because they are both a little darker and snarkier that the other characters with the exception of Rumple.
5. I loved Peter Pan. He was perfectly menancing.
6. I liked the Charming family moments. It was long overdue. I think it is realistic for Emma to challenge her parents. It’s about time they had a real conversation about what it means for them not to have been around for Emma.
7. I really liked Neal and Mulan scenes. To be honest, I never got the Warrior Fire ship. It seemed random to me, but it kinda works here. I found a sweetness in their interaction.
8. I loved Herny flying.
Yeah, I thought I would be the only one. I completely hated that as well. I mean, her character was not the most likeable once you found out that she had been manipulating them all, but when she realized that what Henry had said was true, it was awesome. I finally saw her have an actual character instead of being either purposely oblivious and happy or righteously dignified. Her eyes held some real emotion and when she stood in front of Henry and told him to run, I felt it was for his safety and not to keep him away from the Lost Ones out of spite. I stopped and thought ‘Hmm. I wonder what was up with her? I wonder what lead her onto the path that she is on? After all, it’s unfair to only get Greg’s backstory when she obviously seems to have something going on. She has to have some sort of tale.’ Then Rumpelstiltskin came…*sigh* I love Rumpel, but I have never been so unhappy to see him in a scene. When Tamara started to beg, it really felt genuine. She almost reminded me of a child. When he ripped out her heart, it felt more horrible than a lot of other things he’s done. It felt as though he’d wasted character potential. It also felt as though he’d taken revenge on a person who’s crimes against him had actually been rendered null and void (which is kind of true, even though he didn’t know that). This, of course, brings to mind something that I have seen in Once but haven’t thought much on until now…It seems that if you are not magical, or are not a chosen one directly connected to magic, you get the short end of everything. This whole finding each other and true love stuff seems to extend only as far as the Charmingstiltskin bloodline (Yes, I consider Hook, Regina and Belle to be part of it by association). If you’re not of it, nobody cares. Greg was obviously wronged by Regina in an irreversible way, yet because she is a magical and misunderstood main character, he gets the Dementor’s Kiss for it and she doesn’t. As soon as I saw them go, instead of being happy that GOAT was done for good, I just felt…bitter. I felt like it was so unfair that they had to die when our main characters who have done so much worse were forgiven and are still alive “finding each other” as we speak… which was a very unexpected feeling.
I totally agree about how the magical beings and royalty (I know you didn’t include the royalty) are treated like only their pain and suffering counts. Everyone else needs to buck up if they are hurt by a magical being/royal and are evil if they lash out at the one hurting them. I always wished that Greg had told Regina that he was giving her electro shock treatment because that is what he received for believing an Evil Queen killed his father. It may be why I so strongly support Hook. I feel like everyone in SB wants to sweep over Milah’s death, because its inconvenient. Just get over it and happily accepst that your loved was murdered.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.
