I am displeased with Neal’s love proclaimation to Emma, even if she is someone else who he loves. Unless he never loved Tamara in the first place, villan or not, his heart would in reality, still be involved. He’d need answers, closure, and time to heal for grief before proclaiming love to another woman. For me, this says “second choice” or “rebound”. If I were Emma, I’d have been insulted and concerned that someone who says he loves me can so easily switch gears like that.
I actually completely agree with this. It’s what I call the Mother Gothel. It’s a something that I see in some movies, but mostly children oriented things by Disney. It’s the concept that human emotions actually coincide on all levels with morality. [blank] is evil. Despite all that I’ve gone through with [blank], because they have revealed suddenly that they are not a good person, I immediately turn off my emotions for [blank] and move on as if nothing happened.
So, yeah. That does really interfere with what was supposed to be a touching moment between Neal and Emma.

The Rumple/Regina scenes- Those two are so lovably snarkyAriel
The echo caves scene
Least favourite:
Emma calling Regina a “monster”- It seemed a little bit out of the blue especially after last weeks episode where they worked well together.
PP describing Belle as “fertile”- I know he was trying to tempt Rumple to leave Neverland and start a new family with Belle, but it was downright creepy.
Ariel stabbing Regina in the throat with a fork and Regina having no injury what so ever. That could’ve killed Regina or at the very least we should’ve seen Regina use magic to heal herself.
Snow in flashback- Snow annoys me when she’s too goody two shoes in flashback. It’s like she’s over the top good if that makes any sense.
Neal- It’s not just this episode but there’s something about Season 3 Neal that stops me from fully liking him. I don’t know what it is but there’s something just not right about him this season.
All magic comes with a price!

pretty much everything else(The reason I still watch this show, although it’s off my have-to-watch-list, is the great acting of some of the cast, not the story, not the writing)
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

For Neal to so easily rebound from the death of an ex-fiance who betrayed him cheapens love’s nature, it’s value, and it’s concept (in my opinion). I guess that’s what really put a bad taste in my mouth about this. I just think that sends a bad message.

I don’t think Neal knows that Tamara is dead yet. I think all this will play out in the next episode and maybe we will get Neal’s explanation.

But he does know she betrayed him. We found that out in last season’s finale. He told Emma he loved Tamara. Even though she betrayed him, his emotions should still be tied to her in some way. In the real world, someone would be in shock, broken-hearted, and would be asking all kinds of why’s trying to find some way to give the person they loved the benefit of the doubt so as to somehow salvage their attachment to that person, if not their own dignity in the whole affair; and that, is without the knowledge of death. When he finds out she died, I don’t think that will make any difference. Whether a person dies or not, in a break-up, death or no death, someone still loses a person they love and so there should be a period of grief. Tamara was Neal’s fiance. Not just his girl friend. That should mean she was someone prescious to him. Even if he does love Emma, his heart and mind should still be sorting conflicting loyalties while he absorbs the entirety of what has happened to him, to his son, and with the woman who he thought loved him. It disturbs me how easily Neal was able to get over Tamara. In my opinion, that suggests that he either never loved her, or that the communicated concept of “love” is cheap to come by.

I loved all the lines from TLM that were included in the dialogue and all the other ties to the movie.
Snarky Regina remarks to Rumple and then shaking him out of his funk.
Ariel!!!
Mini-trident.
Ariel stabbing Regina in the neck with said mini-trident (aka dinglehopper). Awesome!
Snow brushing off David’s outrage from Hook saying he kissed Emma.
Snow telling Emma to have hope.
The entire secrets scene in the Echo caves and right after.
So much emotion and angst. I just loved all of it.
Least:
No Sebastian or Flounder nods. 🙁
Regina’s tentacles were too distracting moving in front of her while she was talking to Ariel. I thought it was a little too much.
Eric. Too stiff or something. I just really wasn’t impressed. And I loved Eric in TLM so that was a huge disappointment for me. I hope I like him better the next time we see him.
The whole “runaway with me because I saw you in a dream and now I want to travel the world with you” seemed too rushed.
But all in all it was a great/fantastic/wonderful/tearful episode. Probably my favorite so far.

"Because... it was born out of true love."November 4, 2013 at 11:49 am #221044killianhookfanParticipantLoved this episode so much!!
Favorite moments:
They picked the perfect actress for Ariel. Little Mermaid has ALWAYS been my favorite so she had some big cartoon shoes (and shells!) to fill as far as I was concerned. I think she did a great job.
Dinglehopper!! And stabbed by a Dinglehopper. Is it possible to have a favorite weapon??? Cause I do now!
Loved that they showed Hook come directly out of the woods and tell Snowing straight away about Neal being alive – they purposely showed that he didn’t even have to take any time to think about it.
Echo cave – what a creative idea. Loved Killian’s secret. Loved Emma’s secret and that she is finally realizing that she has to deal with her emotional baggage. I think Pan’s plans just keep back-firing on him.
Rumple and Pan scene – can’t wait to find out what the heck the history between these two actually is. Robert Carlyle rocks!!!!
Regina and Rumple working together.
Any scene with Colin O’Donoghue – he doesn’t have to speak, his facial expressions and body language say it all.
Least favorite moments:
Ummm, wow things move fast in Fairy Tale Land. Eric talks to Ariel for 2 minutes and invites her to travel the world. A bit more character development between them as a couple would have been nice.
David getting annoyed that Hook kissed his daughter who is now what, like 30 years old?? But only because he has never seemed to even care that Neal got his daughter pregnant when she was a teenager which is SO much worse. If they had at least showed some kind of confrontation between David and Neal, this scene would not have bothered me. And I will now step off my 41 year old mother soap box.
On a side note when David told Snow she couldn’t have another baby with him I momentarily forgot that he couldn’t leave the island and was monumentally confused. I honestly cracked myself up when I thought we were going to get a soap opera moment of finding out his secret was that he had a vasectomy when he thought he was married to Katherine.
Snow has been annoying me lately. I feel like she could be the poster child of dysfunctional relationships. “Ariel, this guy has no idea who you are – how sweet, it’s love at first sight.” “You have a fish tail again, won’t be an issue, just go to him. He met you last night, invited you to travel the world with him this morning, I’m sure the half fish thing won’t be important to him at all.” “Emma, you just kissed Hook. That’s sweet. Now let’s go find the guy who knocked you up so you can get your happy ending.” “Charming, I couldn’t survive without you but my darkest secret that I would never tell anyone, including you – my husband – is that I want to have another baby.”
Neal’s reaction to Emma’s secret. I get that you can be supportive by just listening but everyone on the face of the planet was emotionally affected by Emma’s secret and Neal just . . . sat there.
Why didn’t Neal have to reveal a secret to get out of the cave?? Telling Emma his secret is that he will never stop fighting for her once they were outside of the cave doesn’t count.
No acknowledgement at all between Hook and Neal after they rescued him. Hook was also deeply affected by Neal’s death but then they never even addressed that he would also be relieved he was alive in spite of the Emma triangle. Hoping that will come later because Hook and Neal have some healing to do as well.
November 4, 2013 at 2:38 pm #221072PriceofMagicParticipantI forgot to mention that present day Snow annoyed me this episode. Hook and Charming wanted to spare Emma emotional pain by not telling her Neal was alive and yet still rescue him (their plan had flaws) yet Snow just blurts it out because she can’t keep a secret. Doesn’t Snow yet realise that spilling secrets can lead to people getting hurt?
Also Snow declaring that she wants to have another child with Charming. Whilst a Snowing baby would make good drama and is kind of inevitable, it’s the reasons Snow gave for wanting the baby that annoyed me. It was less about extending the family out of love and more about selfishness in a way. Snow didn’t get to play mom to Emma so now she wants a new baby so she can play mom to it because she didn’t get to do it with Emma. Also it felt like the reason Snow was so angry with Charming was not necessarily that he lied to her about the dreamshade but that because he was now potentially stuck in Neverland forever, SHE wouldn’t get to play mom again. The whole baby thing seemed more about what Snow wanted rather than what would be best for the baby.

But when was the last time Snow got to put Snow first?
She went to war to reclaim her father’s kingdom because her stepmother was randomly killing everyone and making everything horrible
She gave up her baby to an unknown world to break a curse in 28 years because it would save the realm
etc etc etc
just two examples off the top of my head. Yes, she’s being pretty selfish but I think she’s entitled to have a moment of “enough’s enough! Where is MY happy ending??!”
