I actually feel that much sadder for rumple & letting go of Bae. I would be afraid of going through a portal like the one I did as a child. Especially after it led to the separatation of my own father & I. Rumple couldnt go out of fear I don’t think it was just fear of losing his power. He was afraid for a moment & regretted it the rest of his life & never stopped searching for his son.

His father tossed him aside & had the shadow carry him away. While both separatations are heart wrenching Rumple is a victim in both.

Finally found a gif to adequately express how this episode left me feeling:

OMG!! I thought the exact same thing as soon as they all ran into the room where Pan and Henry were. At some point one of them will say “Hey, where’s Rumple? Well, he must be in that box!!”

At least we know what or should I say who is in the box this time..

Nothing is impossible on OUAT. Everything has a way of repeating itself. Keeper of the Keeper tread: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/topic/official-keeper-thread-3/#post-217924

    Favorite moments:

    Rumple backstory
Robbie and Robert scene in the cave – they were AMAZING together
Rumple’s comment about not walking in with nothing but his good looks
That all of Henry’s parents went in to try to save him (nice break from the “triangle”) – was nice to see them all working together
Love seeing the generational patterns in the Stiltskin family even though none of them want to repeat them

    Least favorite:

I was hoping for more from the Wendy/Bae reunion – it was sweet, and I know they only have so much time per episode but I always feel like all of Neal’s important “stuff” happens when there is a life threatening situation going on so that there is never time to deal with his issue and it just gets glanced over. I feel like this could have been a huge moment with more detail about how Wendy ended up there, Emma learning more about Bae’s life, etc but instead it was “Wendy?? Bae?? Hug. Seen my son?? No. Lying?? Yes. Henry will die.”

I’m sorry but I laughed out loud when Emma ran into the protection spell wall, flipped upside down, landed on the ground with a thud and Neal says “Are you okay?” like she just took a small stumble.

I had trouble understanding some of what was said in this episode. Sometimes it takes me awhile to adjust to an actor’s accent – but then I typically want to vacation in that country.

My son joked that it is the light-weight, portable, pocket edition of Rumple. Parties? Road trips? Now you can take him with you wherever you go!!

My favorite moment of this episode has to be hands down the reveal of Peter Pan being Rumple’s father.

Keeper of Tamara's death, Cyrus's bottle, Ariel's red hair, and the mermaid that got turned into a statue in the season 3 premiere episode.

    Likes:

Neal standing up to Rumple about a price to cure David and Neal says no, do it because it is the right thing to do.  I also liked how he did come to trust Rumple.

Neal and Wendy reunion, though short it was sweet.  I also liked that Rumple saw through the lie she was telling, and oddly, how Regina talked about Belle.  It sounded like she was admiring Belle.

Rumple’s backstory with his father, the little actor pulled it off.

The ultra creepy confrontation with Pan and Rumple, and another not so little young actor, Robbie Kay man, he’s awesome.  To think we ever doubted how someone could hold up against RC but he had all the weight he needed, and the scene worked for me.

    Dislikes:

Yet again, all the history amongst main characters swept under a rug, so not too pleased but it makes sense as they were finally moving action forward.  I am a bit bemused that Papa Pan became true, though I may have been off on the identity of his kid (and who knows, maybe he fathered 2 other boys before Rumple!)  I might have to bump up my joke thread about where Pan is on the family tree!  No joke now!

Audio mumbling–I had trouble hearing Rumple Father and the Shadow and I guess I’ll just see again at some point.

There was a huge leap between Rumple being dragged by the shadow and showing back up at the Spinsters.  I didn’t quite get that, and obviously there’s more backstory on how they just happened to have such a valuable bean, and would give it to this boy dropped off at their house.   If there isn’t, then the writing is just getting super sloppy.  I hope it isn’t a future “pothole” to be hidden under that very large rug that is covering a lot of plot oddities now.   Also, how did Rumple get back?

The “magic moving moment” with Emma and Regina seemed anticlimactic and silly.  I don’t know aren’t you going to have shadows from the torches?  I know, silly drawing a line at the magic coconut, ship in a portal made by a bean and everything else, but I wish it had been something else.  Maybe some kind of spell to make them glow so they magically emitted no shadows would have been better I don’t know.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

    Epic episode is epic.

That pretty much sums it up for me, yep.

After my first watch, the only nit I really have to pick is that the problem of Charming being stuck there was so easily solved. Rumple being able to make a potion to save him felt just as plot device-y as Blue and her potion to change Lacey back into Belle, and because it’s ended this way, the whole of Charming’s little plot just feels anti-climactic.

The part with Rumple saying he’s not going in there with just his good looks was hilarious. I like the whole Peter Pan backstory and how it didn’t really make him more sympathetic if anything he was more evil.
