Well, we already know Rumple’s gonna have to save Charming first thing…so, kiss and then “Sorry, Belle, gotta help that silly prince AGAIN.”
But yeah. Wow. Is it Sunday yet? (Or really Monday for me…)

I wonder if Emma will be able to take a leap of faith and believe that the switch happened.
The “Leap of Faith” theme I think is played out already. Emma’s dive off the boat marked the start of getting people to work together under her leadership, then her conversation with Charming was the evaluation of what she had accomplished.
I’m not saying she won’t be tested again because of course that’s the substance of such a story! I just think that particular motif may be done, though of course things do recur. I am just not sure it is going to apply exactly to her scene with Henry in Pan’s body. I think Henry is going to have to tell her something only Henry would know, and that it will convince her. So it is no longer about being willing to believe and take risks, but rather, in this particular instance, how well does she know her son?
On another thing you said Storyteller, about whether Rumpel underestimates Regina? I think Pan definitely did, but Rumple looked proud of her. I think they all underestimate each other at times. That is why it is an ensemble story, where the focus might shift from one character to another depending on the particular episode.

At the end of the episode Rumple did say, “he’s ok Regina. You raised him well.” I think he is proud of Regina.

I’m not focused on the ensemble aspect of the story for me ultimately it comes down to the balance of where the symbols fall . And instinctually I feel that Emma’s real leap of faith hasn’t happened yet. Recall that Gold did say that a leap of faith comes when logical reasoning fails you. I also want to make it clear that the bit about Rumple underestimating her refers to him claiming his father was too powerful for Regina to deal with, which is a clear underestimation of Regina on his part. I note that as significant considering the history between the two characters. The fact that Rumple acknowledged Regina’s success as a mother to my mind bears watching given their history but I was impressed that Rumple could make such an admission. Looing forward to how next Sun. shapes up.

December 2, 2013 at 3:42 pm #227557RumplesGirlKeymasterI have to agree that the leap of faith motif will never play itself out on this show because our characters will always doubt themselves but it’s doing what is good and right in the face of that doubt that develops and pushes their character.

Yes but I also think that part of that is that Rumple *wants* to be the one to take down Pan. The fight for Pan is more personal for him, he has a deeper score to settle, as it were. It’s Harry Potter. Anyone could have taken down Volide, but Harry wanted to be the one to do it because of all the hurt and pain. The prophecy mattered very little, it was Harry’s choice. He could have walked away. Same with Rumple. Rumple *needs* to be the one to end Pan because of their history.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"December 2, 2013 at 6:24 pm #227589jenParticipantI don’t think Rumple underestimated Regina, I think he was right about her not being able to defeat Pan, after all she did fail to save Henry. Peter Pan wasn’t defeated he has the heart of the truest believer which was his goal all along. It remains to be seen who will take him down so to speak, but I agree, that I think Rumple will be the one to do it.

So Rumple is wearing his scarf near the town line. Does he think he needs to be the one to go over and deal with Pan. He and Emma can cross but no one else. Maybe that’s why Emma and Charming go to Rumple?

All magic comes with a price!
