Green smoke totally makes me think OZ!!
IF the green smoke is that of the Wicked Witch’s magic, then i can understand the shade of green that it is. MGM owns the shade of green that they used for the witch and that’s why Theodora (Wicked Witch) from Oz the Great and Powerful had to be a slightly darker shade.
I am still going with the Wicked Witch having been a Dark One once before and figured out how to be rid of the Curse without dying. It would explain the skin, since green skin was MGM’s creation and wasn’t in the books.

Why does Regina faint? In the pictures Regina looks very weak and faints…I wonder if that is from doing the counter curse?

I have a crack theory that a pray will not come true….What if what happened to David when the first curse was enacted happens to Rumple and when the curse hits Rumple ends up in the coma that only true love can awaken…once again crack theory that I don’t wish to see but I fear about it.

Or it happens to Regina and Tink goes…I know who her true love is…off to EF to get Robin Hood…because it won’t work for Henry because Emma was the Savior which is why it worked for him.

In the pics, it looked like she collapsed as she was standing with the group, so I dunno if it’s linked to her doing the whatever magic with her arms raised and the lightening stuff. Curious point though, that thing that Pan had in his hand in the BTS shots, which seems to end up in Regina’s hand, it’s the scroll the Curse is written on.
It seemed like Pan had the Curse in his hand, standing in front of the group, who are frozen, then Regina collapses, and it looks like she might now have the Curse scroll in her hand, when she’s on the ground.
She’s obviously not holding anything when she’s got her hands up in the air. So here’s my current guess for the sequence of events…
Pan freezes them, and does a little speech about how he’s totally won and he’s gonna rule them all in the New Neverland…
He’s got the Curse particulars figured out now, so gives the scroll back to Regina with some, “Thanks for letting me borrow it,” sass…
Pan and Rumple face off, and Rumple gets stabby, and Pan’s death somehow triggers the NewCurse, (and also possibly Rumple’s undoing, which triggers crying Belle after they unfreeze)…
With Pan dead, everyone unfreezes, and because of her connection to the OriginalCurse, Regina gets a surge of energy through her which knocks her down…
Because she has this connection to the Curse, she goes ahead with the counter magic lightening whatever, and ends up diffusing it, if not wholly, at least partially.
If the NewCurse does end up having an effect, I doubt it will be the originally intended effect.

Well, if there was a way for it to be stopped before it happened, Rumple wouldn’t have divulged that information if he knew it, because he NEEDED that Curse to be cast, so it woulda been stupid for him to hint that there was a way for it to be stopped, and Rumple is many things, but stupid ain’t one of them.
As far as we know, the Curse has only been used once before, so what’s to say that Regina, as the previous caster of the Curse, couldn’t have some connection to it?
She seems to be actually holding the scroll with the Curse written on it when she collapses, and it seems like the Curse does get enacted, because purple smoke, and she seems to be doing something to try and counteract it because crazy purple lightening magic, which could well add up to her having an actual, unique connection to the Curse IMO.
Blood magic has been a recurring theme this season. Perhaps Regina has some connection to the Curse because it was her father’s heart, her own flesh and blood, that was used to enact it last time. The actor who plays her father is listed as a guest star for this episode.
