My faith that Rumple is the most powerful wizard in all the realms is slowly fading. First Peter, and now Zelena.
If Rumple was able to summon his dagger from the shadow, he should be able to summon it the moment Zelena puts it down. She certainly can’t hold that thing 24-7.
Clearly, at this dinner, Zelena is telling Rumple her plan to change the past and claim what she thinks is rightfully hers. He knows what’s at stake here.
If Rumple doesn’t gain the upper hand by the end of this “intimate” dinner date, then my faith in his powers of manipulation, and in the Dark One’s powers is fading fast.
I know she’s controlling him, but come on. Everything we know about him tells us he should be stronger and more cunning than she is.

She pretends it’s his baby but he won’t accept her because she is a peasant so she gives Zelena away. Then she comes years later to destroy his wedding, after she is already royalty, by telling Ava about the baby. But Ava forgives him because it was before her but is upset with him that he never supported his own child simply because Cora was a peasant. Hence the lecture to Snow about how they are no better than servants. But Cora remains bitter because Ava becomes Queen before she will so that’s why she poisons her so Regina can be Queen. Cora must blackmail Leo so he has to marry Regina and that’s why he could never stand her.
April 16, 2014 at 11:56 am #261843KebParticipantZoso had to enlist Rumple to steal the dagger from the Duke, though he knew exactly where it was and it wasn’t exactly heavily guarded. I think that controlling the dagger is about more than just holding it physically in your hand.
Keeper of Belle's Gold magic, sand dollar, cloaks, purple FTL outfit, spell scroll, library key, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and cry-muffling pillow, Rumple's doll, overcoat, and strength, and The Timeline. My spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6r8CySCCWd9R0RUNm4xR3RhMEU/view?usp=sharing

Agreed but that’s why I don’t think it’s some cunning plan. If Rumple IS trying to get the dagger back then he’d think of another way that didn’t involve her legs around him.

Sounds logical.
So long as Leo is really not the papa.

I have two thoughts about this. 1) something happened that affected his power when he sacrificed himself to kill his father. Not only could it be something physical that actually affects his magical abilities but he was finally ready to give up his power for the people he loves. Rumple used to be all about power and control, when he decided the people he loved were more important to him I think his internal need for power died – and that was what kept him pushing for MORE power for hundreds of years. I simply think he just doesn’t have it in him the way he used to. 2). Belle has rubbed off on him. He just watched his son die. For hundreds of years he has been telling people “All magic comes with a price.” He did everything he could to find his son and in the end HE DIED – Rumple’s price for using magic was losing the most important thing to him. The most important person to him now is Belle who is constantly telling him he is good and asking him to make the right decisions. He doesn’t want to lose her too and he realizes just how harmful magic can be – even when you think you are using it for the right reasons. I think he is afraid to use his magic now for fear he will lose Belle and go back to the Dark One he used to be.

Unfortunately it is too late because no amount of memory potion will ever erase those images from my brain.
On a side note: how do actors’ wives look at that crap????
April 16, 2014 at 1:46 pm #261868lumee23ParticipantSo that means that Cora really is royalty at that point and is married to Prince Henry.
Yes, I’m pretty positive that these scenes are AFTER Cora has already married into Henry’s family. Just look at Rose’s posture, and the way she’s dressed, and the hair. All of that screams of a Cora who has been a royal for a little while by now IMO. She didn’t look like that when she was all dressed up at the ball in Miller’s Daughter. She’s carrying herself like Barbara Hershey in these pics. The version of Cora we’ve seen Barbara play. And that version of Cora didn’t exist before she married Henry.
Those are good points. Perhaps I am making a big assumption that she is pregnant in the scene with Leo and Ava. Maybe she meets Leo even before this while she is pregnant with Jonathan’s baby and all of that falls through and then it flashes forward to after she has married Henry to this scene with Ava and Leo (their wedding?). Doesn’t explain the Leo/Cora kiss but the flashbacks in this episode could span years not just necessarily the 9 months of pregnancy.
Cora did manage to get that fancy dress and pretend to belong at the ball for Henry in the Miller’s Daughter. I wouldn’t be surprised if that wasn’t the first time and she is doing it in that Leo/Ava scene. I need to watch that episode again.
I still don’t think Leo is the father or maybe I just am really really hoping he isn’t. I am generally accepting of the crazy family tree but I think Cora forcing her daughter to marry her half-sister’s father would just be too much for me. It is bad enough that Cora has apparently kissed the man that she forced Regina to marry.
I think we are in for a rough ride this episode lol. Anybody going to cheat and read all the spoilers from the Wondercon screening on Saturday?

He has a couple hundred years of extra experience in manipulation, so he certainly has the wits to get the better of her. But all those years when he effortlessly owned anyone who dared to take him on, he was in complete control. The situation he’s in now, with someone else having the dagger, is very NEW to him, so I can’t fault him for not being at the top of his game right now.

Absolutely. This isn’t an ep I wanna go into blind. If there’s an explanation that’ll take the edge off THAT scene, I wanna know about it ASAP.

Lol yeah that is why I think I am going to spoil it for myself. It will make the episode easier to watch.
