Completely agree. Add to it the fact that Charming had to be willing to prick his finger back in S2 to enter the Red Room I also don’t get how Regina was able to wave her wand and put a sleeping curse on Pinocchio and Marco in the shop. Emma comes running in and says, “I saw you cast a sleeping curse!” But : 1) if it were that easy why didn’t Regina just wave her hand at Snow all those years ago 2) Emma, how does one SEE someone cast a sleeping curse???
Actually Emma said ” I saw you casting a sleeping spell “. I imagine it’s the same spell Regina used on the Lost Boys back in Neverland. It just puts the target asleep for a while.
Last episode when Mal put everyone in the castle asleep, Snow did call it a “Sleeping Curse”, but that was probably a mistake or Snow simply didn’t know that much about spells and curses.

Oh thanks. Though
1) How does one see a spelling spell being cast?
2) Why didn’t Regina just wave her hand over Snow all those years ago and then kill her once Snow was passed out? Because while Regina came to some sort of conclusion in this episode that she didn’t need to kill Snow, just put her to sleep….she actually spends the next several years trying to kill her! Including sending Graham out into the woods with Snow among other things.

Regina seems like a realistic character, changing her mind about actions frequently while her attitude evolves gradually. She’s neither cardboard nor wooden.

She’s certainly not cardboard nor wooden, but it would be nice to see how she keeps changing her mind because it does feel like back and forth back and forth, like the writers aren’t certain what Regina was doing or thinking, just going with whatever fits the episode at the moment

The same way we did: Regina waves her hand, and the two fall down asleep. That’s visible enough.
