This scene just sets up the next scene, Rumple entering his shop and finding Hook. The last frame is from inside Golds shop, looking at the door from Hook’s view.
This scene just gets Belle away from Gold’s little shop of horrors and back to her library.

The actress who played Ruby had enough after her character became obsolete in S2 when A&E gained the full rights to Peter Pan. I know Belle gets a character-centric episode in 4×6, so maybe that was her inticement to stick it out. Hopefully, she’ll even get a second character-centric episode in S4b — the way Hook got two character-centric episodes in S3.

Ā I think they are telling us to look at the classic Disney movies and find out what was left out of the stories….what scenes were deleted or what scenes were concieved but never fully developed and that we will find clues to a story that will be revealed. Ā I think these deleted scenes could also be a clue that stories have been deleted out of the book. Ā We had a direct reference to Nancy Drew not to long ago. Ā I tell you there is a clue trail…..and I’m following it. š

Well, happy hunting.
But I think this is waaaaaaay out there. Adam has said that the deleted scenes are stuff that got cut because of time and the only reason they are showing them now is as a nicety to the fans. And not everyone sees them. Some, like this one, came from Twitter and is obviously low quality and unpolished. The other ones we got were shown on GMA and you either saw it or you didn’t. In other words, if they are trying to give you a trail to follow then it’s a really poorly executed one because there is no way to ensure that your whole audience is getting it. They can’t suddenly yell SURPRISE and lay out this elaborate network plan when half the audience isn’t paying attention. You’ll drive them away because they are no longer connected to the narrative.

It explains why Belle suddenly (conveniently) isn’t at the shop any more. It also gives Belle some actual screentime and some RumBelle happiness before things go downhill for them. since it looks like things start getting iffy for RumBelle next episode when Belle tries to use the dagger against Rumple. I hope there will be an explanation for why Belle does what she does instead of it being like at the beginning of season 2 when Belle ended Broken saying she was going to stay with Rumple then next time we see her in the Crocodile she’s ready to walk out on Rumple because of his lack of honesty. There was no transition between point A and point B.

I would love to see the SB folks flocking to the library eager to learn more about our world especially since they can’t leave SB right now. Maybe a scene where Belle is helping someone or reading a book to a group of little kids. That would be sweet. :o)
