But her “greater good” stems from a mistake Belle made a long time ago that she feels she needs to correct which is in and of its self selfish….
Well, again, what we’re lacking is context. Maybe Belle feels that this mistake she made involving the Snow Queen is currently putting everyone in town in danger. If so, then her using the dagger on Rumple to protect everyone from the Snow Queen would constitute being “for the greater good.” Rumple himself said that not even Emma and Regina were powerful enough to take on the Snow Queen (which seems false, because they did defeat her snow monster when they combined their magic). Maybe Belle feels like only the magic of the dark one is strong enough to take on the magic of the Snow Queen, and now she’s wants Rumple to remove the threat the Snow Queen presents to SB. Only problem is Rumple is refusing to help Belle out of his own selfish agenda, so maybe Belle feels like she has a moral obligation to wield the dark one’s magic like a sword. “Love is a weapon” and all that jazz. Yeah, that’s messed up.

Obviously, Belle must’ve regained some sort of memory or discovered something about her own past with the Snow Queen that involves her mother, and she’s feeling extremely guilty. Now Belle needs Rumple’s magic to fix whatever mistake she made.
Maybe Belle won’t tell Rumple because she feels what she did is shameful and it would only cause Rumple to lose esteem for her. Little does she know Rumple is covering up a big dark secret of his own that involves the Snow Queen. Hence his refusal to let Belle anywhere near her. He’s concerned about Belle’s safety but also about being caught in a massive web of lies. Now he’s playing the guilt card on her, “I gave it to you because I trusted you.” Baloney, Rumple! You don’t get to preach to your wife about trust when you broke her trust the minute you proposed. *Ugh*
That’s what I think too.

“Look, Rumple might’ve lied about the dagger, killed Zelena, forced Hook into his servitude, withheld information on Anna and the Snow Queen and sucked an old man into the Sorcerer’s Hat…. But Belle tried to control him, so they’re even!”
October 31, 2014 at 12:38 pm #288328ready_to_rumbelleParticipantThe second sneak peek made me absolutely excited about Sunday’s episode. This means we finally get a real story for Belle! She must be pretty desperate to force Rumple to help her and from her perspective and with her current knowledge about the dagger and Rumple’s history with Anna/SQ it’s more like “I’m asking my all powerful husband for help (ONCE) and when I don’t want to tell him about the mistake I’m trying to fix he won’t help me and starts to treat me like a child (see the “I won’t let you anywhere near her”)!”
In my opinion, A&E aren’t making Rumbelle look bad or get even by having Belle messing up but they are trying to show us that no one is black or white, light or dark, good or bad, we are all grey and when pushed into a corner, most people do things they later regret. Belle has been very forgiving in the past and maybe now it’s finally time for Rumple to forgive her.

I agree. I think Rumple knows that Belle wouldn’t abuse the power of the dagger or use it unless it was in a desperate situation, like in the teaser above.
I’m thinking whatever this storyline is, it’s also less to do with keeping count of you did this and now, I’m going to do this to you. Because that’s not how rumbelle works. I do think the truth about the dagger is very likely to come out next episode and stuff is going to hit the fan. I expect Belle to be flaming furious with Rumple.
October 31, 2014 at 1:00 pm #288331angiebelleParticipantI am so excited for this episode. Belle is finally getting a storyline- and something meaty too. We are seeing this without context, so we don’t yet know what it will mean for RumBelle, but after so many eps of Belle not being involved at all, I’m totally rejoicing.
October 31, 2014 at 2:50 pm #288337PriceofMagicParticipantI’m excited for this episode too. I think it’s interesting about Belle trying to use the dagger against Rumple. It throws a whole new dimension over the fake dagger situation. Whilst it was wrong that Rumple switched the daggers, at the same time I’m glad he did it otherwise he would be forced to lead Belle to a very dangerous woman with no guarantee that Belle would walk away unscathed. I like how the whole dagger situation is no longer black and white but has become a grey area. Rumple was wrong but now Belle is in the wrong which kind of justifies Rumple’s actions even though they were wrong.

Keeper of FelixOctober 31, 2014 at 3:03 pm #288340FelieParticipantI’ve just had a thought! This whole situation could end up turning Rumple’s hallmark deal-making on its head – Rumple may need to go to the DQ and ask her to make a deal, so that she plays along with Bell’s little mission without anyone getting hurt. Belle could end up digging Rumple into an even deeper ditch than she thinks.
"so there’s this new show….."
"there’s lesbians in it"October 31, 2014 at 4:10 pm #288345obisgirlParticipantWhilst it was wrong that Rumple switched the daggers, at the same time I’m glad he did it otherwise he would be forced to lead Belle to a very dangerous woman with no guarantee that Belle would walk away unscathed.
Except for the fact that it puts Belle in danger anyway because she can’t use the dagger to defend herself. Belle’s not a fighter.
I remember I theorized if Belle used the dagger to defend herself and found that she couldn’t because it’s a fake, she’s basically on her own and defenseless. In this case, I think she’s probably lucky because Rumple is with her but if he weren’t, if she were going solo to confront the Snow Queen, there’s no helping her. She would be on her own with a fake dagger that can’t summon the dark one to save her.
I mean, look at Belle’s body language and the freaked out tone in her voice, she’s horrified. How much more embarrassed and scared would she be if she knew she had a fake dagger that she can’t use?
October 31, 2014 at 7:03 pm #288356CindersParticipantI think it was right for Mr. Gold to say he wouldn’t let Belle anywhere near the Snow Queen. I think he had Belle’s safety at heart. However, now that he’s lied about the dagger, I think he’s going to lie to cover up that lie. I think he will go with Belle, and pretend she’s controlling him in order to cover up for his fake dagger shenanigans. But I think he will take the real dagger with him.
Both daggers will go on this journey to find the Queen. At some point, possibly in a struggle, I think the daggers will get mixed up and we won’t know which is which.
I’m pretty sure Belle still has the fake dagger, but i really don’t know for sure. He told Hook he switched them back, which was a lie, but maybe he did switch them later. It’s confusing.
