I’m somewhat intrigued by Rumple’s response to Belle’s “I can’t tell you. You wouldn’t understand.”

First, he challenges her assumption (it is rather an unfair one, whatever her secret is), but then he doesn’t pry. He lets her keep her secrets. (He’d be an utter hypocrite if he didn’t, of course, but it IS interesting.) And then he assumes, also unfairly, that if he refuses to go with her, she won’t do the stupid thing and face the Snow Queen.

He forgets for a moment (or she surprises him yet again–one of the few people who regularly DOES surprise him) just how stubborn and determined his little wife is.

I wonder how Rumple is going to get out of this situation? His choices are either confess to Belle or play along and take her to the Snow Queen? Both are things he really doesn’t want to do. This episode is going to be so intriguing. I have hope for RumBelle, they’re relationship is built on more solid ground than “because pixie dust said so”.

I think his best bet would be to play along, freeze Belle again, and make a deal with the DQ so that she doesn’t say anything which may give the game away to Belle.

I think he might actually confess to Belle the truth (then possibly wipe her memory, kind of like what Regina did to Henry in season 2). Rumple playing along is infinitely more dangerous to Belle since the Snow Queen is dangerous. If he confesses, then yeah Belle will be angry with him, possibly leave him (though I hope not for reasons) but at least she’d be safe and alive. Rumple has always been the type to let Belle go because he thinks she’d be happier and better off without him and is constantly surprised when she chooses to be with him. I think a darker Belle is a much more interesting story and would be a real wake up call to Rumple rather than Belle leaves him and cue the angst until they make up.

She looks extremely determined in the promo, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she went off to confront the DQ on her own if your scenario were to happen. Remember, she’s gone off on dangerous missions on her own before, so why would this time be any different, especially since the reason for this mission seems to be causing her great anguish.

He either needs to play along or wipe her memories, because it looks unlikely that Belle is going to let this go, and telling her the truth won’t accomplish much in keeping her safe, since (as I’ve said) that will probably just lead to her going off to confront the DQ on her own, with the additional bonus of possibly ending their marriage. Which is why I think his best option would be to get to the DQ and initiate a deal with her so that she keeps her icy lips tightly shut in front of Belle, or disappears for a while.

Well…at least OutlawQueen is confirmed to happen one way or another. Can’t say the same about Rumbelle, but do have hope. OutlawQueen relationship is build on prophecy and fate…something no one can stop. (Hence death continuously attempting to kill Marian.)

Which is why I think his best option would be

His best option would have been to be honest with her and not dig himself into this hole in the first place. There’s no “better” way for him to get out of this now, he’s pretty much screwed.

Anyway, we don’t even know if Snow Queen would actually be a danger to Belle, depends on their history which we have no clue about yet. It could be that Belle would be a minor annoyance and SQ would humour her but not harm her. The real problem is that Rumple doesn’t want the gals to get chatty and for SQ to reveal that she and him go way back, because that’s something he’s been keeping from Belle and he’d be busted. So he’s putting the preservation of his secrets and lies over Belle’s need to set something right that she obviously feels passionate about. And he has the hide to say, “I gave you that dagger because I trusted you,” while he’s trying to talk her out of using it, making her feel bad for using it, but she’s not even really using it because she doesn’t even have the real thing, because he doesn’t trust her enough to be honest with her.

So while I don’t like that Belle’s resorting to using the dagger to control him, I can’t bring myself to be too pissed with her because she’s suffering through this situation because of lies he’s told that she’s believed simply because she wanted to believe that the promises the man she loves were making to her were true. God I hope she tears him a new one when she finds out everything he’s kept from her and lied to her about. She’s clearly upset over feeling like she has to use the dagger, she kinda hates herself for resorting to that, and the reason she’s feeling like that is because of crap he’s done.

I hate to be a downer, but Neal and Emma also met as a result of prophesy and fate, but their tale was one of woe. So, “fate” isn’t always a guarantee of a happy ending (unless fate gets rewritten).

That’s what I think, too. Rumple is piling himself higher and deeper.

When I say ‘Which is why I think his best option would be…’ what I mean is – if he wants to keep up this charade – his best bet would be to make a deal with the DQ; something she wants in exchange for her silence. Because I agree with you when you say

The real problem is that Rumple doesn’t want the gals to get chatty and for SQ to reveal that she and him go way back

I think it would have been best for him to be honest with her from the get-go too, but he wasn’t, and unless someone’s got a spare brain, heart, baby and physical-manifestation-of-courage lying around he ain’t gonna be able to undo this situation. He’s got several options – none of them good – and I think his best one would be to have a quiet chat with her royal iciness before Belle does.

He could always tell her the truth after this potentially dangerous situation has passed, because, as I said earlier, if he tells her the truth now all that will accomplish is Belle going off to see the DQ on her own. And as much as I doubt the DQ would harm Belle, you just never know.

The pixie dust only said that Regina and Robin were soulmates. That doesn’t mean that they’ll have a happy-ever-after together. (Heck, A&E, higher authorities than pixie dust or Tink, said that CORA and Rumple were Soulmates. So (aside from ew ew ew) what does THAT mean for OQ?)

Rumple and Belle are better than soulmates. They have, or at least had for a moment, true love. The kind that breaks curses. The kind that constantly leads Rumple to David to beg for advice on how the heck you handle something so powerful and incomprehensible. The kind that, for a moment, was enough for Rumple to surrender, willingly, his dagger to another human being (giving it up to Zelena was not that willing–he had an impossible choice and he chose his son that time). (And yes, he took it back, but he DID give it to her for a short while. That, for him, took guts.)

If True Love can make things cross realms through a curse (Snow’s ring, the swan keychain necklace) and bring people together no matter how much stands between them (Snowing, Cinderella, Abigail, Philora…), then I’m hoping it can be strong enough to bring Belle & Rumple back together even if both are going to be crushed by the betrayals and secrets between them.

If only it was enough to keep certain people alive.
