The past AND the future suggests that MAYBE what they’re doing will affect time. Like…enough to make Mal alive in the present? Enough to make the alternate version of the storybook true? (tiny beating hope) Enough that Bae doesn’t die?

Come on…think it through. Cruella is in the past EF and present day SB. Just like every other season and villain of ONCE, except Pan.

I think it’s pretty obvious: Rumple and Cruella have something in the EF that she’s bringing up in SB.

Of course not. But so far as we know there is no time travel magical device at work. They did set up the time travel bit in 3B starting early on
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"It’s so curious, and frustrating, that they wrote Belle into the Snow Queen story, Anna’s story, then they put her to sleep as the curse played out. Possibly she won’t ever be part of Anna’s story as she leaves Storybrooke and returns to Arrendelle. Anna could have given insight as to how Rumple was involved with her parents, the hat, the sorcerer, etc. I would have loved to see Anna react to learning her friend Belle actually married Rumple.
Also frustrating that Belle actually saved Robin and Marian’s lives, but she has no part in their present stories. She had a fairly significant backstory with Robin when he broke into the Dark Castle, but they don’t interact in Storybrooke.
And Henry, working in Rumple’s shop. So much potential, but…..nothing happened.
With both Belle & Henry, they almost CONSTANTLY set up potential story arcs and character connections that they then just…drop. Forgotten. They did it with Neal, too. (And they always do it with the recurring/guest chars, but at least they’re not billing them as MAIN CAST members when they do it.) Belle’s centrics are starting to feel shocking because she’s SO absent when it’s not about her specifically. Like, in ten episodes, we saw maybe ten minutes of her that wasn’t the 20 she got in her centric. Henry, too, is startling to see (partly because the kid is growing so fast and it’s hard to recognize his older self when you never see him). With Henry, at least, one can excuse some of the neglect on the fact that his actor is a youth and has some restrictions on time etc on set.
But I could give you a dozen story arcs I had EXPECTED to see play out with Belle that would’ve made great television, used Emilie’s talents well, and further explored both Rumple and other main characters’ histories & characters. But they never happened. Belle’s been set up to be close enough to the Charmings that she spends a year living in their castle and gets to babysit Nealflake the first hour Snow spends away from him intentionally (that’s a position of trust, man); she and Emma call each other constantly when stuff comes up; she and Hook & Regina have Issues to sort out that have already been fun for…maybe 90 seconds total tv time? She’s Henry’s grandma and adventured with his father, rescued his father-figure Archie, hangs out with the Blue Fairy AND his former babysitter Aunty Ruby….just etc etc etc etc etc. And the two of them have NEVER had a conversation together. They’ve barely been on screen together. This…really isn’t the place for this rant but…they’ve set Belle up to have relationships with EVERYONE and yet we only see these relationships in the very rare moment they matter to the PLOT. The rest of the time they’re relegated to the background or her centrics, and we only really see her interact with Rumple.

If there’s one thing I want to see this episode, it’s Belle finding out about the dagger. It’s been almost an entire arc since they’ve set this up, and I am getting constantly annoyed that it keeps getting dropped (did anyone else expect Belle to overhear the conversation between Rumple and Hook?).
If things don’t come to a head with that, I’ll be pretty upset.
