Fear and Desperation seem to be Rumple’s favorite tools for corruption. See Jiminy, Regina, Snow White, Anna…though in the last case he was merely tempting her in the hopes that she wouldn’t be corrupted.
With Snow White, what actually corrupted her was seeing Johanna die. She lost faith in goodness–lost hope that if one does the right thing, good things will happen. We’ve seen Regina and Rumple both succumb to that when they have struggled to reform (and it’s easier for them because they’ve actually tested being bad with a lot of positive results–it made Rumple rich, powerful, and relatively safe, for example, and he had every reason to believe that continuing to be evil Just A Little Bit Longer would have made him more powerful and more safe).

I agree.
Another one…anger. Specifically, anger against someone Emma thought she could trust. Maybe it has something to do with Snowing’s secret.
Or maybe anger against the author or whomever (other than Rumple) decided that she would be savior and because of that her price is that romantic interests around her die or are just plain weird.
Or anger at Regina for killing Graeme or being the cause of her being alone all her life until recently.
Seriously, though. It could be connected to Snowing’s secret.
Edit: maybe Rumple or the QoD will use her temporarily lack of trust in her parents and turn it into paranoia and hatred.
And there is anger’s evil twin: hatred.
Just realized…this seems to be very Star Wars-orientated, so I am now thinking about what corrupted Annakin
-hatred, lack of trust, anger…and yes fear for his wife and desperation to protect his wife.

February 23, 2015 at 8:34 am #296617RumplesGirlKeymasterIf Emma gives in to Rumple’s jedi mind tricks, then I am going to roll my eyes. It’s literally what Ingrid *just* did. There was a whole 2 hour episode to devoted to Emma accepting herself that ended with her literally setting off fireworks with her I-Accept-Who-I-Am hands. So for Rumple to play on Emma’s insecurities over magic and family and for Emma to fall for it….been there, done that, problem solved already.

If this happens I will be rolling my eyes right along with you.
I am hoping they are bending the truth a bit to get an audience, like how they tried to make Elsa look like a threat for the 4a promo.
But due to the recent interview you mentioned to me yesterday, where the writers hinted at Emma being tempted by the dark side, it seems that the promo is not entire inaccurate.

I don’t think it’s inaccurate, but I also think that it’s teasing something that might not be as big a deal in show as they are making it. It seems that by 419, at least, Emma is still Good! Emma and determined to hunt down the Author with Regina–they are leaving town together. If there is an extended Evil! Emma storyline, then I suspect it has wrapped by 419 (though, there were little to no indications of Evil! Emma from the photos we have seen from 412-419, so either it’s really nothing at all OR the entire storyline was shot indoors)

Yes, this is what I was trying to say, but you put it better than me 😉

February 23, 2015 at 1:26 pm #296629PriceofMagicParticipantI think the dialogue from the promo could be actual dialogue from the show, whilst the visual stuff isn’t. If this is the case, who could Rumple be talking to since it’s not the QoD?
Also I think the soul that can be molded doesn’t refer to Emma, since corrupting her is the target goal whilst the molded soul is the requirement to achieve said goal. I think the molded soul comment refers to Regina (since we’ve seen pics of Regina with the QoD) or as a longshot, Henry.
All magic comes with a price!

When I first saw the promo I thought it just looked odd with Emma there, considering all the pics we’ve seen where Regina’s the 4th person with them. That would make more sense than him talking about Emma. He’s had a hand in moulding Regina’s soul before, and the fact she’s been trying to swing back to the lighter side a bit shows that she can be susceptible to influence and change. The whole point of Emma is she’s so powerful due to being the product of true love, so expecting her to turn dark side is verging on the absurd, she’s just not programmed for evil.
