Might just be the shot perspective. He looks smaller when the camera is further away from him, but looks bigger when the shot is tight on him.

It’s probably the CGI, plus Chernabog flying around makes the size kind of hard to pin point.
I think maybe the hat had been used in the past to trap more than fairies. The EF is probably filled with more magical creatures than that.
My theory is that the Sorcerer only intended to use the hat to capture dark magical creatures that posed a threat like Chernabog, rather then using it to absorb just anybody who’s magical.
I like that. So the Sorcerer is like Buffy, kind of, going after the big baddie monsters who pose a threat to everyone in the EF.

I wonder why no one ever tried to trap the Dark One. I mean it’ have been easy too. Zoso was under Dude-With-Face Guy’s control presumably for awhile. Sorcerer could have easily put a sleeping spell on him, took the dagger,summoned the dark one, sucked him into hat, goodbye dark one…. Unless…. Sorcerer is The Original Dark One:o

Knowing this show’s track record with such things, I think they just want us to forget, (the Apprentice is SO last half season, no one remembers him or cares what happened to him).
