I really disliked the Stefan/Maleficent angle of the Jolie movie, so I’m really hoping they don’t do it here, too. This article gives me vague hope, in their description of Maleficent as “half reptile” and the mention at the end of dwarves and eggs. Some reptiles (including, ahem, a couple of komodo dragons in captivity) are capable of asexual reproduction. They’ve referred to her as a dragon enough now, I think, to assume that she’s more than just an exceptional human witch capable of transformation. I think (hope) Mal might actually be mother and father of the baby.

I read a theory elsewhere that I felt I should share here. There’s a theory that Rumple might be pretending to be Hook in this episode in an attempt to get the dagger back from Belle. I know many of you would hate that development, because once again Rumple would be duping Belle, but I totally could see this happening.
Bobby was on set the night they shot that scene, wasn’t he? However it plays out, it’s not good for Rumbelle. Either it’s Rumple posing as Hook and lying to Belle again, or it’s Belle wilfully handing the Dagger to a personal enemy of Rumple’s. Either way one of them is gonna be betraying the other.
Whether or not it’s Real!Hook, I imagine he’ll say he wants the Dagger for something Ursula related.
So…how does August factor into this??? Because the past flashback is obviously pre-Original-Dark-Curse so he would be baby! Pinocchio then. Are they really aging him back up after this past weeks, “I don’t want to remember”

Considering that they didn’t mention his storyline in the PR, I believe it’ll be a little flashback towards the end of the episode that leads to a bigger storyline (August will be in multiple episodes, after all). It’ll go like this:
• Henry investigates
• Finds something related to the door/August/the Author
• We see a flashback of August related to what Henry found out.

Hook requests an unusual favor from Belle
If Hook asks Belle to dig up the Dark One’s dagger, then that would be a pretty big indicator that Rumple is disguising himself as Hook. On the one hand, I could see the real Hook potentially wanting the dagger to get revenge on Rumple and control his nemesis. However, I also think Rumple is just as addicted to dark magic as ever, and that he would stoop so low as to fool his wife (again) for the sake of that dagger by magically disguising himself as his biggest enemy.

Yeah, that does appear to be what’s going on in those spoiler pictures. Poor Belle. It seems like she’s forever being duped by Rumple in his unending quest for power.

I think we’re going to get a flashback from S1 of August meeting Jefferson. There was a cut scene from “Hat Trick” that didn’t make it onto the S1 DVD. Yet, the episode stills from 1×17 indicate there was a meeting between those two characters, and that they appeared to recognize one another. Since Jefferson had his memories during the first curse, it would stand to reason that August would’ve sought him out. Perhaps Jefferson even told August about his travels in his hat, and that is how August got his image of inside of Jefferson’s hat of the door leading to the Author.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I recall Jefferson had a line about “all stories having to come from somewhere”. Or something. Maybe he knows that for a fact. Maybe he has met the Author and knows where to find him.
