“Heart of Gold” – Emma is still reeling after learning the truth of her parents’ history with Maleficent, but she must focus on finding the Author, who is running loose in Storybrooke, before Gold does. When Gold’s quest for his happy ending grows more urgent, he blackmails Regina into helping him. In a Fairy Tale Land flashback, Robin Hood learns what it means to be an honorable thief when he accepts a proposition by Rumpelstiltskin to travel to Oz to steal a valuable magic elixir from the Wicked Witch, on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, APRIL 12 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David Nolan, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Colin O’Donoghue as Hook, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry, Michael Socha as Will Scarlet and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold.

Guest stars include Rebecca Mader as the Wicked Witch, Sean Maguire as Robin Hood, Wil Traval as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Raphael Alejandro as Roland, Jason Burkart as Little John, Christie Laing as Maid Marian, Patrick Fischler as the Author, Jennifer Cheon as Nurse, Paul Kloegman as Carriage Driver and Tristan Shire as Oz Guard.

steal a valuable magic elixir from the Wicked Witch

Okay, so given how I think we all are sure Mr. Gold is dying from some kind of heart problem, I think I know what Robin is being tasked to steal :
“The Great Elixir was also known as The Essence of Vitality and The Water of Life. A drop of it consumed sent new life coursing through one’s veins. It gave power, strength, and vitality greater than youth itself. It was centuries old, and there was very little of it in existence, contained in a Golden Flask no bigger than two fingers. According to the King of the Fairy Beavers it was a “fairy compound”.
I am betting RH is tasked to steal this in the past, and in the present Mr. Gold planned on using this to restore his life since he may well be dying. Also, this could explain why Cruella and Ursula have never aged 😛
*Watcher hides the fact that she simply googled “Oz” and “Elixir” to find this answer* :3

Yay. A random magical plot device that probably has no bearing whatsoever on the current QoD plot and is only being used to insert former characters into a story that will likely have nothing to do with the QoD plot.

    Excellent writing.

The plot just screams, ‘filler episode’. Question is, is it going to be worse than Enter the Dragon?

My hope is no since the present day deals with the author.

Not to mention finding out what Robin is up to is somewhat important. Plus, like her or hate her, we know this Zelena plotline will continue to at least episode 420.

I wouldn’t say those things are important. The only reason this episode is happening is because A and E don’t want to put those toys back in the box. If we never saw Robin or Zelena again, we’d assume he was living with Marian and Ronald (end of story) and that Zelena was dead (end of story). Robin is slightly more important because of his connection and obvious endgame to Regina but introducing ANOTHER villain? Goodness. They’re giving Gotham a run for their money for most villains introduced in one season. Rumple, Cruella, Ursula, Mal, The Author apparently, Zelena and potentially Dark! Emma

I’m looking forward to going to Oz again. And…maybe this will be the episode that they manage to half-redeem Robin for me. I really, really hated what they did to RH’s character in 4A. If they’re going to make him Regina’s end-game love interest, I’d like to see them make him a LITTLE less icky.

(They’ve done it before…so…I know they’re capable of changing my mind about a character.)

But Belle’s gonna be little more than a footnote again. Sigh.

Hmm – I thought “Heart of Gold” might have something to do with Henry (Heart of the Truest Believer)… I guess not.
