I had a very long response and I deleted it.
I’m not doing this AGAIN for the 10000000000000x time. I’ve been doing it for a year solid since 322 and I’m utterly exhausted from still getting emotionally wrecked over this.

They are supposed to record. Not create.
While the authors can create and alter with the quill (obviously) that’s not their job. They are supposed to record the events of the story for whatever reason and while trapped in the book, Isaac could only record and not alter, apparently. So what does that mean? Baelfire’s death may not have been written by anyone. And if it wasn’t written and caused by anyone other than the writers and the Powers-That-Be, then it cannot be changed. Except for the three genies magical law breaking spell. And Nyx. Or time travel mumbo wumbo.
But still. If they decide to bring him back, idk if the author would be much help.
This is me being my own devil’s advocate now: Well, watcher. Rememeber when Regina talked to Isaac about page 23? He said it was something he was experimenting with. That sounds like he gets a say in what ways the story turns. So yeah.
Idk. This show is just all too confusing to make sense of. The most any of us can do is just watch and see where it goes. And take happiness in the few remaining things we still have before the writers take it away *weeps over Rumbelle and ScarletQueen*BUT if I’m right, I think a box of cookies is more than appropriate.
Goldn, you’ll get cookies, cakes, a few dozen bakeries, and a cute little dolphin.

Are the genies even an option anymore? Nyx’s curse on Cyrus and his brothers was broken, and now Jafar appears to be the only genie enslaved by her. I have my doubts the spell works with just one genie now. Plus, all of Jafar’s magic law breaking actions were easily undone after his defeat.
May 8, 2015 at 8:36 pm #304291KebParticipantI’m excited about Sir Rumple and excited that it looks like for almost the only time all season, Henry will actually have a relevant role to play.
I’m not commenting on the Baelfire thing until I see how the episode plays out. I mean, just hoping for a split-second scene with Belle in it seems to be too much to hope for EVEN WHEN THEY ISSUE A PROMO PIC. So…I’ll see what they give us. I’ll probably like most of whatever it is. Gonna hold back until I see it, though.
But, for the record, I went through the named characters about half an arc ago and a significant percentage get killed…but a significant percentage of those get brought back from death/apparent death, too. I think the numbers were something like 33% and 15% respectively at that time; I haven’t run an analysis since then. Millions of loopholes. Everywhere.

I am sure there are more genies in the world other than just those three. Sidney was a genie afterall. And at first I used to think only three particular genies were needed for the spell (1 genie of the lamp, 1 genie of the bottle, 1 genie of the ring perhaps) until I realized that Amara as looking for her sons and not just any old genie which is probably why it took her so long. So yeah. I think the spell would work.

All evidence points to being made that way (Cyrus and his two brothers and Jafar). We don’t know anything about Sydney before we met him, already a genie.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 8, 2015 at 9:27 pm #304294KebParticipant…and, because I’m slightly crazy, I just ran some numbers on my database, which may or may not be accurate. (Probably isn’t. I’ve had other things on my mind.)
Out of 251 recorded characters from Once and Wonderland, I have 78 deaths (stated or shown on screen; some implied deaths are not included here–by which I mean, say, Morraine’s family who is probably no longer living). Of those, 66 remain dead; 12 have been revived in some fashion.
That’s a 31% chance of dying if you’re significant enough to show up in a press release (or IMDB, I’ve been grabbing characters’ names from both sources, but imperfectly). (Yes, names include “Zelena’s father–Woodcutter”.)
And if you die, you have a 15% chance of being revived. The numbers haven’t changed much, then. Of course, some of the deaths are just sleeping curse…

May 8, 2015 at 10:54 pm #304296TheGoldenKeyParticipantAccording to Natalie Abrams, one of the journalists who have screened the finale, we can rule out Neal/Baelfire coming back in the finale at the very least. Sorry:
Though many fans wished the Author rewrite could mean the resurrection of Baelfire, there is a very plausible explanation why that can’t happen—though he is brought up more than once.

[/quote]Thanks Matt. 🙂 I read that interview earlier on the board. I’m ok with him not coming back this season, or even next season for that matter, as I didn’t see my theory playing out anytime soon. I’m still hoping we might see Bae in a flashback of Rumple’s new fake memories, but, I’m not counting on it. 🙁 I’ll be happy dancing if the latter does happens though. 🙂

May 9, 2015 at 7:02 am #304310TheGoldenKeyParticipantThose examples had their loopholes, whether you like them or not….Point is, you can’t just open up the possibility of just anybody being resurrected, because what happens to the stakes when you can just bring anybody back from the dead? I agree that the above loopholes are annoying, but you do have to draw the line somewhere.
But my point is, magical rules are not insurmountable or impossible to overcome. There’s always a loop hole! For Pete’s sake, Zelena’s time-travel spell worked, even though it’s against the laws of magic! There’s always a loop-hole!
Hear, hear! 🙂
