That would also mean that Lily and Aurora are half sisters. I think it makes sense now why Mal would go after Aurora’s mother and then target her.

Things We Know About This Episode:
We’re supposed to see some major, shocking reveal about Regina’s past in this episode…probably as Young Regina.
Barbra Hershey’s returning for a flashback…well with this show, she may just be returning returning!
Regina’s going to get a curveball tossed at her.
Any clues or theories on what this shocking reveal is?
1. Page 23 did happen, and someone screwed with it (glancing between Rumple and Cora)
2. Another shocking reveal could be Lily may just really be OutlawQueen’s daughter…Adam and Eddy did plead the fifth on Regina getting pregnant…could it have been in the past or present? (if Mal isn’t pregnant in her flashback episode 4×14, then I’m heading back to Lily being OutlawQueen daughter)

I think the title could refer to lots of different people. Mal and Lily. Cora, Zelena, and Regina. But I was wondering if “Mother” could also perhaps refer to Mother Superior. She’s still in my shady book.

I think the title could be about what children learn from their mothers. Regina is always wary about turning into Cora. Or perhaps Zelena actually gets a taste of what it was like growing up with a mother like Cora.

She actually might have been born as a side effect of the true love potion being inside of Mal, and thus there is no father. Timeline wise, this would also explain why Lily and Emma are close in age. And because Lily was born from the same true love created from Snow and Charming that was used for the curse, she and Emma are linked. I’ll laugh if she is literally hatched from a Dragon Maleficent egg. =p This is full of all sorts of weirdness, but this is Once Upon a Time…

I think it’d be quite hilarious…you know what Mal said to Ursula “Or tried to impregnate!” Almost as if she spoke from experience….
When you think about it…David “shoving” that “egg” into Maleficent….if she really did get pregnant from TL being inside her…wouldn’t that kinda make David Lily’s “Father”?????? XD

Timeline wise, this would also explain why Lily and Emma are close in age.
This is a sticking point for me with the whole Maleficent being Lily’s mother thing.
It seems like a no-brainer that King Stefan would be Lily’s father, and that whole situation is what triggered Maleficent’s vendetta against Aurora and her mother. But in that case, Lily would have to be at least as old as Aurora, so Lily would have had to be trapped in time somewhere for her to only be Emma’s age now.
If Lily was instead born around the same time Emma was, then you’ve gotta consider Maleficent’s demeanour back in S1 around the time the Curse was cast. Maybe she was so blissed out because she’d just had a baby and was hopped up on hormones, but then why did she attribute her happiness to her pet unicorn? And she certainly doesn’t act like someone who has recently lost a child. Younger Maleficent who is all ragey, sure, I can buy that some of that could come from the grief of losing a child, but not S1 Maleficent.
Maybe Lily is the unicorn, thrust out into the world when the Curse was cast, away from her “mother”. (I think I’m only half joking, God help me.)

The more I think about it, the more it wouldn’t surprise me. The star is a mark left from her horn. The human who turns into a magical creature had their magical creature “child” turn into a human (#poetry). Regina made the Curse separate Maleficent from the only “person” she loved who brought her peace and happiness, which was the unicorn. IT ALL MAKES SO MUCH SENSE.
(Though it’d be the most extreme case of whitewashing ever, because that unicorn was born black as ebony.)
