Haven’t seen the ep yet, but Snow rejecting the name Mary Margaret might just be one of my fave moments out of the whole entire show.
[adrotate group="5"]March 13, 2016 at 10:56 pm #318942Bar FarerParticipantSnow not wanting to be Mary Margaret anymore should have been in Season 2, in the same season, Emma got to see who her mother was back in the EF, so that conversation in the diner was wrong.
I hated what they did to Megara.
Otherwise, the episode was meh. It wasn’t bad, but it was really uninteresting or maybe I’m just not interested in the series anymore…
"All your questions are pointless"
March 13, 2016 at 11:56 pm #318959Bar FarerParticipantHere is a point I have regarding Henry and this bringing Cruella back nonesense: if something they established before got in the way of PLOT, they would simply made the other characters liars. Henry can totally bring back the dead now cause Issac, Rumple and the apprentice lied (or was it just the apprentice? Did they forget that Rumple and Issac also made that comment about it? or they just hope that we are stupid enough to forget that?). That would explain why what Lumiere said about the first dark one was created in the vault was inconsistent with 507, he simply lied. Now we realize that the apprentice was a liar all along so now I understand why he said that Merlin tethered the darkness into a human soul instead of saying that he tethered the dark one into a dagger.

March 14, 2016 at 12:00 am #318961SlurpeezParticipantI’m glad Henry will get his pen back, since an author without a pen is useless. I also loved that Snow FINALLY rejected her husband calling her Mary Margaret (though I agree it’s come way too late in the narrative).
While I enjoyed seeing young Snow again, I didn’t like her first kiss being with Hercules. I wanted him and Meg to have already have met, and for him to be in UW searching for Meg. Meg being a damsel in distress is too 1950s, and I totally reject this version of her. What happened to the spitfire named Meg from the Disney version? *head desk*

LIKED
-Snow, in the present time, asserted herself, got involved in physical battles and informed everyone that she no longer wishes to be called Mary Margaret
-Regina was the one who gave present time SW the pep talk. It was also nice to see her acknowledge some of the suffering she caused SW in more detail than in 3B.
-”Herc”’s story was over so quick. More time to focus on actual fairytales and the original core characters.
-Hades! Great actor.
-That the pen is alive! First plot twist that is not based on a plot hole or continuity error or OOC moments in a VERY long time. It was an interesting way to get the pen down to the Underworld.
-Regina’s dress.
MIXED
-Seeing Young Snow and Regina. I was disappointed that we saw very little of them together and that some scenes seemed to have been cut (LP’s twitter account showed Regina and Young Snow outside together).
DISLIKED
-It was unrealistic that it took 24-48 hours for SW to be that competent at archery. I am sure that not even the most talented archers learned that quick.
-”Herc” OMG so cheesy.
-More evidence that one of the characters is going to die to let Hook live, and it probably will be Robin. Let’s s**** some more on Regina, shall we? I guess the character needs to die because he cheated death in 5A; I am just disappointed with the writing choices.
-That Henry didn’t ‘fess up about meeting Cruella to Robin. Really, what would have been the harm to tell him? Surely Henry is old enough and smart enough to realise that Emma did not ”murder” Cruella, but was simply protecting her son?
-I feel that Hades is slow to act and is not using all the powers at his disposal to be a bigger threat to our heroes. We haven’t learned what all his powers are yet, but he is a god so he should have quite a few powerful ones.
LOL
-This episode reminded us of another plot hole…this time it was one in Season 1. If Regina was able to attack people through her mirror (fireballs), then there would be no reason for her to send Hansel and Gretel into the witch’s home, or make many of her appearances outside the castle to terrorize and kill her victims.
CURIOUS
…to find out what the pen’s unfinished business is. Writing all of the character’s adventures until the end of time, I suppose. Or is there is a specific storyline that it is waiting to write?
I also wonder if the pen and the chisel are somehow connected or might be one and the same?
CONCLUSION
I am putting ”I have my reasons” in the same category as ”You’re questions are pointless.”
Keeper of Regina's bravery
March 14, 2016 at 4:24 am #318980PheeParticipantOK I’ve watched it now, and I take it back, my fave moment wasn’t Snow rejecting the name MM, it was Regina’s, “WELL IT’S ABOUT TIME,” because Regina is all of us.
My biggest nitpick is probably…what even was that protection spell on the Mayor’s office? You can still sneak in through the vent? And Cruella somehow got in too? Most pathetic protection spell ever, and so clearly just a weak plot device to get Henry separated from Robin. They couldn’t come up with a more believable way to get Henry and Cruella somewhere alone to have that conversation?

OMG that reminds me, I nearly flipped the table when Herc told Snow, “It’s not important,” when she wanted to know how he died. Thankfully they did actually answer that question later, but I was seriously doubting they would after having brushed off the question earlier in the ep.
March 14, 2016 at 9:32 am #318992Bar FarerParticipantI have a problem with Snow’s “epiphany”. We, the fans, noticed that this was not the character we used to love, but that was not shown through the narrative of the show. Snow and other characters never commented about this.
This is yet another example of viewers know => character know.

My problems with Snow’s epiphany are a few.
1) The timing is totally wonky. For me, she became Snow White (officially) at the end of S3A “Going Home.” The end of Snow White was the Pilot, saying goodbye to her child, knowing it was the only way to give everyone their best chance. The beginning of Snow White in this world should have been the parallel situation of Snow kissing Emma goodbye at the town line, knowing it was the only way to give everyone their best chance.
2) I really don’t like that Snow’s epiphany didn’t come from a place of deep internal inspection of what it means to be Mary Margaret vs what it means to be Snow White but because Regina (a character who fluctuates between Hero-Mayor and Snarky Evil Queen on a dime) and Hercules (a one-off who’s connection to Snow was only just established this week) had to prop her up.
With all that said, I’m just really glad I never have to hear “Mary Margaret” come from David’s lips ever again.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 14, 2016 at 10:09 am #318994PheeParticipantI can’t help but wonder if Ginny was all, “Get my character back on track, dammit,” and this was their effort to give Snow a bit of a soft re-set. If so, then I’m OK with it, I can deal with any inconsistency, as long as they keep it up and make the character better from this point on.
March 14, 2016 at 11:29 am #319007thedarkonedearieParticipantYes it was. It’s the same place. The clouds cleared for Herc and Meg, letting the audience in the secret. But it’s the same place.
Completely disagree. Like others said, the moving on place will be different for everyone. But Olympus, is special for Hercules only. If they say that Olympus is heaven for everyone, that will piss me off. But honestly, that’s not what I thought at all and I didn’t think of it like that until I read these forums. I think you could either look at it like the writers were letting us in on the secret and the clouds went away t reveal that the better place is Olympus for everyone. Or you could see it as Olympus appeared only for Hercules. We’ll see which it ends up being but I think you could make a case for both.
