A lot of the news lately screams “hail Mary in the final moments!”
While Season 5 can very well end up being the final Season, I should note that quite a few suspected the same for Season 4. Especially when it ended up revealing the Author, which seemed like it was something they’d save for a final Season. And you had the whole Heroes vs. Villains thing. Despite all of that, we continued into Season 5.
Agreed. But the combined Author reveal + Hero Goes Dark And Is Finally Saved and Reborn does seem like a lot of wrap up. But, I do agree that the story matters less and it’s more about the ratings/actor contracts in this case.

Kitsis explained: It’s going to be similar to season 3B in that we are going to be flashing back to Camelot and a present day story.”
Confirmation of the timeskip theory that’s been going around.
Look for the backstories of Merlin, Arthur and Lancelot. However, don’t expect those stories to fully take us away from our regular cast. “It’s really about our core group of characters and what they’re going through,” says Horowitz. And, yes, we’ll see Merlin (Elliot Knight) in the pilot but not in a way you might expect.
Hopefully this is really the case. I know several were annoyed at some of the Frozen flashbacks that didn’t involve any core characters, or they appeared in a minor supporting role. My theory is that Young Emma will run into Merlin disguised as an “usher.”
Instead of our core characters being the only ones to go to Camelot, the producers intentionally added more of our supporting group of characters. “It was a conscious decision to bring them along for the ride to Camelot,” said Horowitz. “Being the fifth season, we’re going to hopefully try and see as many old faces as we can this year,” added Kitsis.
I’m cautiously optimistic about this.
At the start of the season, Gold is still down and out … but don’t expect that to lost too long. “I don’t think it would be much fun to just see him lying around the whole season,” teased Kitsis. “I can say that his arc in Storybrooke is something we haven’t fully seen before. It is going to go right into his very essence as a character.”
Well that’s good to know. I still suspect he won’t wake up until around 505, midway through this storyarc.

Okay…I wasn’t fully on board with Season 5 being the last season, but based on Kitsis response….it’s almost as if they know this could potentially be their last, and just wanna go out with a bang.
Watch out people….Season 5 Season Finale will be resurrecting every dead character leaving a mega cliff hanger, and that will be the series finale! LOL!
3. With Emma going through so much, Regina’s role in the community will change a bit. “I also think that you’re going to see in Storybrooke,” teased Kitsis. “It’s going to be everybody looking at the mayor [to lead].” The fact that the town still doesn’t fully trust her is going to be a challenge. Regina and Snow’s relationship will also be affected in terms of who the town looks to for leadership.
Umm…Lana and Ginny teased the healing of Regina and Snow’s step-mother/daughter relationship back at D23, and I’m expecting, well hoping for that to happen. Wasn’t this already settled in 4B Premiere when everyone went back to their original jobs, Regina as mayor and Snow as teacher….which reminds me….does David even still work at the Vet’s Office anymore???!!!
6. Zelena is “Awesome,” said Kitsis about the Evil Witch being a part a full-time part of the series this season. “Zelena’s role in the premiere, I’d say she’s the Hannibal Lechter of Storybrooke.” And for those who thought having the green one carrying Robin Hood’s baby has softened with impending motherhood, Horowitz advised: “I would say pregnancy has changed her but not necessarily for the better.”
Then why the….seriously….are you kidding me right now. What was the whole point of this baby fiasco then if it’s not to change Zelena for the better?
10. Teen Romance Coming: The now-teen is seen taking matters into his own hands in the season premiere. “I would watch the second episode where we might meet Henry’s first crush,” says Kitsis. “You can’t go to Camelot and not fall in love.” Episode 5 is a Henry-centric episode.
So Episode 5 is Henry Centric….Good to know.

Because it’s tweetable and buzzworthy but with no emotion, heart, or follow through. Flash in a pan writing.

In other words, this is a way to work the excellent Robert Carlyle into the premiere.
That’s basically what we’ve been theorizing.
Our favorite captain will be at hand to remind Emma of her humanity when she stands at the point of no return. Thank goodness for timely entrances! And manly pirates! However, it’s Regina that Emma entrusts with her life in a pivotal moment, and we couldn’t love this scene more.
This was already spoiled by one of the promos. Definitely more SQ baiitng.
The Blue Fairy will gift Belle with a Bell jar containing a single rose in bloom in order that she may watch over Rumpel’s life while she embarks on a perilous journey without him, reminding us all that this love story is far from done. Everybody saw Aw!
So the rose is being used for Rumbelle. Good to know that they’re the ones to keep this iconic Beauty & the Beast totem.
Ready for one last spoiler? Time travel.
I don’t think this is referring to the characters literally time traveling, as that was already denied as a plan for this Season by Adam and Eddy. I think this is referring to how there’s going to be a timeskip to after everybody returns from Camelot, and that we’ll be getting flashbacks of their time in Camelot throughout the Season.

That’s exactly what it is. *sigh* CS is going to get the just rewards–true love confirmed, more than likely–but they are going to bait SQ on the side because their solution is to try for appeasement. But it comes across as bipolar on Emma (and the writers) part.
Ready for one last spoiler? Time travel.
No.
