…I’m suddenly thinking Emma will kill Merlin.
I think she’ll take his powers. Being TL incarnate makes her powerful to the max, and now she has the dark one…entity inside her, so I think she can actually engage the powerful sorcerer in battle and take his power. I don’t think she’ll kill him because Merlin is too “big” a character to kill off.

The problem is that it lacks a certain amount of emotional upheavel since he’s brand new and the audience isn’t likely to particularly care.
ETA: however, if it means that Meghan Ory isn’t being brought back just to be killed off so that Emma can go dark….then die, Merlin, die.
