If it’s not Regina (who seems the most logical choice given the direction of the season) then I think it’s Charming since 1) his episode and 2) he’s following in Arthur’s footsteps as a heroic knight AND is the guy who will be getting “the relic” in the past (I assume). Meaning that the Siege Perilous will be offered to him, making him a knight of the Round Table and worthy to draw forth Excalibur.
Those connections sound right to me!

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s Regina…she’s the one being told by Emma to step up as the savior and do what needs to be done.

I’m a big fan of Captain Swan… but why Hook?? That makes no sense. Sure, he is being redeemed. And sure, he wants to save his girlfriend. But i dont see the connection of why it would be him.
My thoughts are Arthur, because she had to bring him to Storybrook for some reason. Or…
Is it possible for Light Emma to be the one to pull the sword? With her being a TL baby and having pure light magic because of the whole Lily situation, it makes me wonder if she kinda has a Jekyll and Hyde personality inside her. The darkness has taken over now with the help of DO! Rumple, but perhaps the light can shine through if she accessed it. Would the sword then allow her to pull from the stone because it would read her as pure light magic?
This leads me to a question I posted in another thread – could Light Emma (Or Light Regina) then forge the sword back together with light magic instead of dark and snuff out the DO curse? Supposedly Emma putting the sword back together with Dark magic would snuff out the light, so why can’t it go the other way?

That’s probably theoretically possible, though I get the sense that in the OUAT universe either tasks (snuffing out the dark or the light) is a fool’s errands. I think the ultimate goal (and only solution) for the hero is to put the two in balance/bring them together.

I think it’s Regina — especially if we assume that DO!Rumple is a portion of Emma’s own consciousness, distorted by the DO curse. Emma is obviously feeling conflicted about seeing Regina “usurping” her role as the savior, so in a sense, it almost seems like DO!Rumple is playing on that insecurity. It has to be someone who’s very much on Emma’s mind already, otherwise the line “we both know who that is” doesn’t make much sense.

That sneak peek between Rumple and Emma strangely parallels Rumple and Evil Queen a lot!

It’s making me wonder….did Dark One Rumplestilskin know even in the Enchanted Forest that Emma would one day become Dark One? Maybe waking him up is another key to saving Emma, because if he did see it ahead of time back in the EF, then he knows like Merlin how to stop her.

Perhaps it is being written like that to play in with Belle’s line “It’s far easier to hate a dark one than it is to love one” but it just seems odd and a little OOC that he would spend 3 seasons chasing after Emma and that, now that she’s the dark one, he wants nothing to do with her. I feel quite confident predicting that until Hook gets over his issues with Emma being the dark one, then a CS TLK won’t work. Remember Belle’s line about Rumple in 315 “I love him, all of him, even the parts that belong to the darkness”. Until Hook can learn to love ALL the parts of Emma including the darkness, then no amount of kissing is going to break the Dark one curse.
The thing I find almost unsettling about the clip is that Hook refuses Emma’s offer of talking and having lunch “like old times” when she’s dressed in her Dark one outfit, yet he’s more accepting of the offer when she’s wearing her Sandra dee dress. Not only that but Emma’s body language when she’s apologising before making the offer, it just doesn’t sit right. It’s like she’s being made to apologise because she’s not the woman Hook wants her to be and she doesn’t want to be rejected by him so she’s being quite submissive.

I had that reaction too! But it’s slightly muddled out since I think Emma is playing him anyway, but still. Idk. I’m trying to just “Stop” when it comes to Hook. I should really be used to rolling my eyes when he comes on screen but *shrug*
I think it is OOC. I get the whole “this isn’t you” thing but I don’t think Hook would just turn her away. I think he would be open to talking to her, to trying to get her to come to her senses, to try and have her explain what happened in Camelot and why she took away their memories. I don’t think anyone would have just turned her away. But for a positive: OMG THAT DINING SETUP THOUGH!!!!!! LOL GRILLED CHEESE! ONION RINGS! TABLE CLOTH! I don’t think specifically. I think he knew, as he said, that emma would start the “final battle” perhaps meaning light vs dark in the ultimate fight once and for all. Rump doesn’t know all the specifics, I think he said it was like looking at a puzzle without all the pieces or something right? So yeah. I think he knew the final battle would come, just now how or what it would entail.
