Keymaster.what if…. SHE HAS HADES’ HEART!!!
Ooooooooooh.
In the original Oz books, the Tin Woodsman is really Nick Chopper who was prevented from marrying the woman he loves and ends up chopping off his limbs, each one being replaced with tin. The only thing that was never replaced was his heart. What if Hades removed his heart, gave it to Zelena and she tried to use it against Hades for her spell, but it failed for *reasons* (whatever reason Regina’s heart does work)

Maybe because Hades is a God?

KeymasterMaybe because Hades is a God?
I’ll gladly accept that reasoning. Gods are notoriously hard to kill.

Well, Hades claimed that he couldn’t be killed back in the episode “Labor of Love”:
Hades: Oh, this is going to be quite an exciting day.
Hook: It will be… when I kill you.
Hades: Why does everyone say that? You can’t kill me. I’m Hades. This…this is death.
Hook: Well, then, I’ll find whatever’s worse and do it to you.
I guess it’s up for debate whether Hades was telling the truth, or not. Not being able to kill him would make sense, of course.

KeymasterSo Hades offers up his heart to Zelena to help her with her time spell, though perhaps it’s part of a test. Zelena, unable to let go of revenge, ends up trying to use the heart, even if it means Hades will die (Zelena doesn’t realize he won’t die?). Hades leaves Zelena after this act of betrayal, but because this is OUAT and they like to woobify villains and their love stories, Hades decided to not swear vengeance against Zelena but instead to help her. So he does *magic thing* to make the Underworld more like the Dark Curse in which there is no Savior.
But…how does this work with the theory that Hades created the Dark Curse long long ago? Did he make it and then just put it the Mountain with the Chernabog? Then re-create it in order to help Zelena? And why didn’t he bring Zelena to the Underworld until now?
(why do I suddenly have so many interesting questions and theories about a Zelena episode? What’s happening here?)

It’s probably less so to do with Zelena, and more so to do with Hades’ involvement. Many of us are enjoying Hades, and are willing to learn more about him.

Could also be, not just Hades, but the fact that Zelena is now one of the last consistently written characters left of the regulars and as Emma and the rest of them become more unlikeable, Zelena has risen in the likability ranks because she points out the other characters flaws and doesn’t fall into line when it comes to praising Hook.

And she’s just delightfully wicked. It’s why I like Cruella too. Sure it’s fun to create morally gray characters but they have done it too much. So now, the characters that are just plain consistently evil are quite the delight. And both her and Cruella are just so over the top delicious.
