This would, of course, be a lovely opportunity for the show to reflect on the “handsome hero” trope in the first place.

How about Quasimodo? He’s probably from Belle’s realm.

Ha, why not? I’m assuming you’re thinking of the Disneyfeyed version — I can’t imagine Monsieur Hugo’s original sensibilities would fly here, unless OUAT suddenly morphed into an HBO show. Anyway, in the spirit of OUAT’s conflation of characters, who is going to be Quasimodo, Rumple or Gaston?

    Aw, shucks,…

Yeah, I think we need to stick with the Disney versions of that and of Hercules’ origin story.

Anyway, in the spirit of OUAT’s conflation of characters, who is going to be Quasimodo, Rumple or Gaston?

Gaston’s narcissism seems like the kind of thing that would draw ironic punishment (or cure, depending on how you look at it) from the gods. Maybe he didn’t come back quite right from his time as a flower.

I think there are two options for plot in this episode, but both of them revolve around Belle learning that Rumple is the Dark One again.

    1) Belle learns Rumple is the Dark One and decides that she loves him no matter what, flaws, darkness, deception and all and the reunite in the Underworld. Belle also tells Rumple she’s pregnant and Rumple suddenly has even more reason to survive the Underworld, while having some sort of change of heart that he really *does* want to be free of the Darkness. “Her Handsome Hero” is a reference to Rumple, unironically, and Rumbelle enter safe water.

2)Belle learns Rumple is the Dark One again and decides she’s absolutely had enough. She’s tired of the lies, the deception, the darkness, and the back and forth. She tells Rumple she’s pregnant but that he cannot have any part of/limited contact with her or their child’s life. “Her Handsome Hero” is still a reference to Rumple but ironically as Belle breaks the S.S. Rumbelle for the rest of the season/series.

No matter which situation, at some point, we’ll see Belle in the flashback reading aloud from “Her Handsome Hero.” The line will be the overall theme to the episode and will reflect on Rumbelle, either unironically (version 1) or ironically (version 2). Look for Belle to spout the line in the present day to Rumple in the Underworld, again either unironically (version 1) or ironically (version 2).

my guess is version 1.  It would sense since they already did the whole, get out of storybrooke, I can’t deal with you anymore, banishment.  Plus they laid down the seeds of Rumple becoming a hero again earlier in the season, and although he chose darkness again, I bet he has a change of heart and somehow gets rid of it for good.  Maybe the UW would be the place to rid the darkness forever.  It would seem like a good place to keep such dark magic.

Well since there are pics of Belle and Rumple together and him with the dagger in his hands i will say version 1, minus the pregnant, bc like i said before unless they do a huge time jump, or something like only days passed in UW and months in SB, no way Belle can even know she is pregnant, bc they only left some days ago, maybe not even one week. Of course the other option is she finding she if pregnant from before the 4b arc, so would mean she would be like 8 weeks more or less.
