The “Wookiee prisoner” line was funny on its own, but why oh why did they not follow it up with Hook telling Zelena “I’m Luke Skywalker; I’m here to rescue you!”?
If only Regina had used the Volkswagen instead of the blanket. Some accountant or doctor or something somewhere would have had the stuffing scared out of him when the diner fell on his house.

Dislike – they haven’t increased the wig budget, Snow’s hair makes me want to cry and I don’t know how Ginny stands for it.The dwarves storming into Granny’s
Grumpy’s line about how it’s actually “embarrassing” how much stuff the Dwarves haven’t been involved in made me chuckle. Oh Show, you’re so meta sometimes.
Hook trying to have Henry break all the rules AND free the woman who killed his father. Come on. Stop this, OUAT. If you want me to be at least moderately accepting of Hook as Henry’s potential step father, then stop showing that he’s a truly horrible influence.
They almost had him actually scoff when he said the word “honour” in response to Henry saying what Emma would and wouldn’t want him to do. Then he proceeded to talk Henry into helping free the woman who loves to gloat about having been responsible for his father’s death, the woman who is a massive threat to Regina, who is the heaviest hitter they have left in the magic stakes at the moment. Hook trying to free Zelena was a dumb move which nearly wrecked everything, but he’ll still come out of it smelling like a rose. If I thought they were deliberately setting him up to be secretly shady because they’re building up to something, it wouldn’t bug me as much, (I enjoyed Hook back in the day when he was just being shady), but I think the writers are oblivious to how they’re actually writing him, and they think he’s just the passionate romantic hero type, which…no, they need to pay attention to the words they’re making him say.
Zelena having any part to play at all. I cannot stand her. And she basically admitted to raping Robin. But OUAT will never actually delve into that. They just leave problematic consent out in the air and never touch it again.
They even put emphasis on it by having Robin insist, “Quite unwilling,” but again, they don’t really pay attention to the words they’re giving the characters to say, so the issue won’t be properly addressed.
While on the subject of Zelena, did I miss something or was there no real explanation as to how Regina managed to get the wand back? I know she said that she knew the spell would weaken Zelena, but that’s a pretty weak explanation for what happened, and it took me right out of the scene trying to figure out what had actually happened.
Regina enchanted Hook’s hook and it was a one time use. Plot holes and inconsistencies like that drive me nuts.
OMG I CANNOT. Did the writers just forget what they wrote, (though it would have taken them all of 5 minutes to double check)? Or did they just expect the viewers to not notice? The former makes them seem dumb, the latter makes them seem insulting.
The Beauty and the Beast Rose (but why didn’t she make it more portable? BUT OMG OMG OMG)
I’m glad they’ve introduced it, but it felt like quite a fleeting mention. Even if they’d taken a few extra seconds to have Blue shrink it down to pendant size or something so Belle could carry it around easily, that would have put some more focus on something which is quite iconic.

It’s like Regina just knocked it out of her hands or something. That moment was rather lame sauce.

She’s gonna have to lug that thing everywhere. How exactly is she going to be able to fight or do anything if she’s holding on to that thing
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 28, 2015 at 7:47 am #308607TheWatcherParticipantLIKED:
– Dark One Rumpel. But then again, was there any doubt. Also did anyone else notice his voice was just slightly deeper than it usually is? I figured it was to press that this isn’t real rumple.
– Merida. Loved her! She was feisty, strong, funny. Can’t wait to see more.
– THE DAGGER IS APART OF EXCALIBUR??!?!?!?! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
– Zelena. Dear god, she is so wickedly delicious! When she chopped off her hand, I died!!!!! I love her!!!
– CGI was amazing for both the tornado and the wisps.
– The scene where everyone barges into grannies and that whole dialogue. That was amazing.
DISLIKED:
– Hook. He was just so over the top. Seriously, he really needs to dial it back a bit >> Not even Emma’s family was having as much of “B.F.” as he was. Sheesh, bruh.
– Plot holes. Potion to rip out hearts? Yeah, know, that’s not how that happened. And for what reason do you even still have this potion on your person after all these years anyway?
– Lots of exposition in this episode. Lots of explaining things…that for me weren’t quite adding up. I still need clarification on why the wand needs Dark Magic.
Overall: 8/10. I really liked this episode. It was fun. I really wish it had more to it though. Great way to start off the season.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 28, 2015 at 9:03 am #308613onceaholicParticipantWriting this without reading the other replies. If I end up repeating what others have said, my apologies.
minus points for:
-Merlin telling young Emma that bad things with good intentions leads to terrible things/darkness/whatever it was. If this is true, then perhaps Snow should have been able to walk through that door to get to Glinda, unless of course her heart was healed of all the bad things that she had done until that point?
And what about self-protection and the protection of others? I really don’t like where they are going with this.
-Emma starting off the pit of gloop. Rumple didn’t start off this way, so why should she?
(Temporary theory: DO that start off redeemed (Mr Gold) or the love incarnate (Emma) end up back in the gloop as is the only thing that is strong enough to convert them?).
-Why is the WW needed for the wand? Regina is not entirely ”white magic” so surely her inclusion would tip the balance towards evil?
-WHY DID EMMA TURN EVIL AT ALL? She is supposed to be pure love/white magic incarnate right, and Snowing removed the darkness from her? Perhaps she cannot stay good, and be influenced by outside forces (dark magic) or life experiences????
Not happy with….
-Henry seeming to have more respect for Emma, who was the DO and in a different realm (because he didn’t want to change the story), than Regina and went off with Hook to break out the WW. Maybe I misunderstood?
What I liked….
JM’s performance as the trainee dark one. (Not sure about her as the actual dark one, though).
Interesting that the dagger was part of Excalibar.
Liked Merida’s performance (but not her inclusion).
Question 1
Last time the crew ended up back in EF, they landed in their full costume, long hair and all. It didn’t happen this time, nor did it happen to Emma and Hook when they fell through the portal. Is the something about the curse that does that to them, returning to their original state? Part of the ”undoing?”
Question 2
I don’t understand why Emma couldn’t have asked for help catching another wisp. Was there a reason I didn’t catch?

Emma DO in training stuff was great as everyone has already mentioned and I like having Merida around.
I liked sneezy the sheriff, even if it was short lived.
Granny had some good lines, wish we had more!
I LOVE that the dagger is really from Excalibur, I had suspected this based on a spoiler I read about the dagger wasn’t always a dagger, and I am happy with the direction they are taking this (for now at least.)
Least favorite:
I actually like the idea of a time jump, but the memory loss? Really?!? Ugh.. okay
Hook is usually one of my favorites on the show, but I disliked him being over the top angry and getting in Regina’s face about things. Hook initially being upset and trying to summon the DO with the dagger and being grumpy when it doesn’t work – I get that! But then later when he gets mad at Regina over the wand?? eh too much. Also, how did he figure out so quickly that Regina being too good was the problem?! If the wand needs light and dark, how is the WW the immediate obvious choice? Unless her unborn child is innocent and therefor light? I don’t get it. EDIT: I just re-watched the episode and the apprentice said something about the wand being light, so I guess it just needs someone with darkness to use it not someone with BOTH light and darkness. Still a bit confusing, but I imagine the wand will be used again in future episodes. Also they need to explain that hook potion thing, because that does not fit with what we were told before.
Random complaint: Why were Robin and Roland at the loft? Do they live there too?! Why aren’t they crashing at Regina’s much larger house? Did I miss something from Season 4 about this?

I watched the episode with my 8 year old daughter and we both enjoyed it immensely.
– Merida was a treat. Loved the story about what happened to her family. Can’t wait to see the triplets grown up.
– The Excalibur/Dark One dagger reveal was amazing and set up so many story lines and threw King Arthur into shady territory immediately.
– Henry and Roland in the diner…..like….I wanted to cry
– As much as a loathe Zelena right now, that hand chopping thing was so amazing.
– I loved Regina and Hook’s sass offs.
– The Dark Swan scene was pure gold. The way she touched Snow’s face!? Villains on this show don’t care about personal space at.all.

She was being protective of Henry and Roland throughout the episode, even though it was in the background. And between her having saved Roland’s life before he was even born and being Henry’s other other grandma…
