When coming to the forums … I always love this thread . . . What were your FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 5 x 07 when we finally learn about the 5×07 “Nimue”

We were right folks…Nimue is the original Dark One?
That struggle Emma was going through between good and evil…Go Jmo!
And everything else…this felt like classic OUAT Episode, and was spectacular.
Gathering of Dark Ones at the end of the episode and the coming full circle from Merlin warning Emma, to her pulling the sword from the Stone.
Disliked:

Okay this was HANDS DOWN THE BEST EPISODE OF THE SEASON SO FAR:

– EVERYTHING.
– NIMUE!!! EVERYTHING WITH NIMUE! LOVE HER! Merlin and her relationship was just too beautiful, and she is hardcore. I cant wait to see more of her!
– Little Young Apprentice! (wait…Merlin didn’t want to make Nimue immortal…but he made his apprentice immortal?)
DISLIKED:
– Zelena still being a tricky witch. Writers….please. I know Zelena is wicked but that woman has SOME goodness in her somewhere. I honestly cannot buy this card carrying villain shtick from Zelena. I don’t think she would have helped Arthur v_v sorry. I don’t.
– RETCONS!!!! I was under the impression that the first dark one was created at the vault of the dark one… now you tell me that’s not a thing? Pull your crap together, OUAT writers/
– Who the actual heck is this vortigun person and why is he relevant? Why is he just killing peoples?

Okay, so on the whole I actually liked this one more than I thought I would. At least compared to some other episodes. I like when the show explores its mythology and leaves its arc-of-the-season behind for awhile to explore some deep seeded questions.
LIKED
–Nimue the Dark One. Called it (a lot of us did)
–Merlin is still pretty great
–Prometheus’s fire. Mmmm. Greek mythology. My warm and happy place.
–Emma resisting the draw of power
–Zelena was hilarious (wut is this universe?)
–At least exploring the show’s history and answering questions. I don’t know how good those answers are yet, but at least we got them. But like a lot of past answers–Henry’s adoption, the Book, the Author–they feel born out of the season of the moment and not a long thought out plan.
–Snow’s Outfit
–The final scene with all the Dark ones. So creepy!
MIXED

–Vortigan = Random Bad Guy We Needed To Create To Drive Nimue To Do Things. (but nice mask)
–Zelena tethering the sword to Merlin. That was just straight out of left field. But I guess makes for an interesting set up later?

–Jesus is a realm jumper. What? I know I’ve brought this up before but Christianity did not spring into existence from nothing. There is a VERY long history behind how it came to be and the EF hasn’t demonstrated that it had the history and conditions that our earth had for this specific religion to form! Therefore having Christian crosses and the Holy Grail (a Christian icon) are not possible unless you want to tell me that Jesus was a realm jumper with a spinny hat, in which case, I’ll set my M.A. ablaze.
–Hook’s silly ring on a chain. Great. More magical mcguffins.
–Since I’m looking for it now, more classism!
–The Merlin and Nimue love story was so fast. Does anyone else remember when romances on this show were built slowly and with purpose?

Because she is the First. So that makes her Uber-Dark One, not just regular dark one. I am curious as to why Emma is more pale and not green actually. In the Comic con promo they put some glitter on her skin but in show shes just a little bit paler than usual. Hmm. I would like to see have turned green if only for a brief while anyway.

Nimue was the first dark one!!! That is what I thought a while back, but then (due to spoilers) thought she might have been the second dark one and killed Vortigan to become the dark one…which I guess I was mostly right except that Vortigan was just a random villain.
Emma’s smile when hook gave her the ring and she said she loved him. AWW she was sooo happy.
We got an explanation for the significance of the middlemist flowers

I thought the Holy Grail = Excalibur was a really cool idea in that I did not see that coming – also it was nice to get some explanation of how Merlin got his powers and why excalibur is great even to destroy the darkness… but as RG points out the HG being in the EF really makes no sense. Maybe I would have liked it more if it wasn’t referred to as the holy grail and instead was more holy-grail-inspired-ish.
Hook’s ring. He does say he is a survivor a heck of a lot and is pretty “overconfident” about it. So, I guess it makes sense that there might be a legitimate reason behind this. However, why not just use one of his many rings that we see him wear all the time? Why come up with a brand new mcguffin for it? My only explanation is that the writers want it to have originally belonged to his mother and that is why he wears it on a chain and why they couldn’t just have it be one of the ones we have already seen.
