When coming to the forums … I always love this thread . . . What were your FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 5 x 08 when we finally learn about the 5×08 “ BIRTH ”

Rumple’s new role as the “Yoda” of the family.
Explanation of Emma’s house. Least she didn’t kill anyone for it.

Zelena’s delivery scene and all it’s sass!
That “Harry Potter” showdown between Merlin and Emma…could’ve been longer, but it’ll do.

Mixed:
Although it is a slap in the face to the OutlawQueen Fandom, seeing that family moment was nice. But a girl…really adam and eddy? As many times as OutlawQueens begged you over the past two years for Regina to have a girl, you give it to Zelena? Couldn’t it have been a boy instead? But oh well…what’s done is done…we’ll just grin and bare it.
So Emma tethered Hook to the sword….okay.
Dislike:
Hook flip flopping on Emma. Wow… “I love you” to “You’re a villain” (Shakes head)
Hook and Emma….The Dark Ones….Okay.
They ruined the Dark One Mythology….like….I just can’t.

If you look to your left, you’ll see all of OUAT’s mythology laying by the side of the road.
What a mess. So we can have two Dark Ones? When a current Dark One holds a sword over them and thinks really hard? Even if it means that the darkness multiplies? What?
I don’t know. This episode answered questions but the answers were horrible and weird and made Emma’s hero journey all about a guy, which I find offensive on many levels.

–Regina and Emma’s conversation in Camelot
–Emma and Merlin’s light/magic battle
–Cute baby
–Dr. Whale, who is really Blaine from iZombie (a far better character and, frankly, show)
–Zelena’s sass
DISLIKED
–Emma simply cannot let Hook die! The father of her child, yes. The guy she’s been dating for a hot second, no. Never mind that it will turn her dark and multiply the Darkness
–Emma doesn’t want to give up the darkness because of a fear of commitment
–Operation Light Swan. Moving fast much?
–Hook is the Another Dark One!? So long, carefully laid mythos.
–Hook never showed any signs of having the Darkness in him. Where were the voices? He really never felt the Darkness inside? He never realized he had powers?
–It’s apparently mandated that everyone must keep wearing the same clothes in Camelot day in and day out.
–Hook apparently kept trophies of all his kills. Sociopaths do that. Not men who are one half of a story being pushed on us as an all time great love story.
–Charming: her name is SNOW WHITE not Mary Margaret. GAH.
This season really stopped making any sort of sense.

–The magic effects were pretty.
–Learning how she got the house. It was a nice explanation.
–Zelena vs Whale was just epic.
–Hook confessing to just how dark he used to be.
–Regina’s determination to protect her sister, I was going HECK YEAH SISTERS.Disliked:
–I’d have bought the can’t let them die thing about Henry. Or Neal even. Hook? No. And as RG points out, Emma DID let Neal die and actively enabled his death. And current Dark One Rumple, who loved Neal even MORE, couldn’t stop it either. So Killian’s death she suddenly can? By making more than one Dark One? Yeah, no.
–Wait wait wait. But the two parts of the sword represented the dark and the light. Excalibur was the light part, the dagger was the dark. Merlin, Nimue. So why does this make Hook DARK?
–Wait wait wait. What happens to Merlin then? Does he die just because he’s no longer tethered? What?All in all it was pretty but messed up and confusing, and that’s without any timeline nonsense.

Favorite episode thus far. I love weird twisty stuff like that.
Loved:
Emma turning Hook into another Dark One because of love. In that situation I would probably do the same thing. Love my hubby too much.Whales comment about his hair.
Merlin, knight is awesome. I want him to be a regular, but not like a Will regular.
Mixed:
Zelena. Funny sometimes but too much.Snow and Charming: hate how charming calls Snow, Mary Margaret. Just seems weird when they go back and forth.
Snow/Charming giving up on Emma. She really hasn’t done that evil of a thing. It’s not like she is killing everyone.
Disliked:
Not much. Really liked it.I liked that even though it made her look bad, Regina kept her promise to Emma to use the dagger when it became necessary.

I think this is consistent with his story. He had his own reattached hand amputated because it represented the darkness in his soul, so I can buy that he’s learned to tune out dark impulses.

– Magic battle. It was brief, not as good as Maleficent vs Regina or Regina vs Zelena or Regina vs The Lost Boys even, but it was nice. Even if it was a bit “Priori Incantantem” 😛
– Some things were answered. I guess.
– Zelena is awesome and I cannot wait to see what’s she’s going to do to get her baby back! Zelena is going to go mama bear mode, I can feel it.
– Dr. Whale’s scenes. Even the fact that emma magicked him into the wall like Zelena did was funny to me.
DISLIKED:
– The fact that orders given by people holding the dagger/sword can be resisted by the dark one. I don’t like that at all. It really takes away a level of seriousness because now any time someone orders the dark one to do something bad, I will just be like “Why don’t they just resist it?”
– Basically anything involving Emma/Hook. Emma turned Dark to save Killian. *facepalm* Hook is a Dark One *facepalm* Hook wanted to buy a house…but apparently has no job (nitpick, I know, but..seriously, how was that going to work?)
– Lack of Rumbelle.
This episode wasn’t horrible, it was actually good. Not as good as last weeks but still. It just wasn’t great. I honestly don’t know what ONCE is anymore.

Yes this. Part of what made SB and OUAT so compelling in S1 was that it felt very much like the real world. Like the town was real and it had rules and regulation and functioned like any other small town, USA. We were told that Gold basically owned everything and even collected rent. So how on god’s green earth did Hook get that house (a man who has admitted to still using doubloons) when he has no job and last year was found sleeping outside on a bench! Their “real world” is becoming more and more fantastical with every passing season to the point where it no longer feels like SB is a real place in our world.
