Honestly I didn’t like The Dark Swan so if you say that this one is worse? I have no hope for this series whatsoever.
If you didn’t like The Dark Swan, then you are probably too far gone to be pleased by the show anymore. Which is fine. Not saying that as a negative thing. But it will likely take a lot for you to think an episode is good now. The fact that Rumple’s girl gave it a 7/10 means I will probably give it an 8/10 haha. It’s encouraging. The Neal thing is sad as I’d hoped he would make a return around the finale. But I’m mostly happy that Greg Germann is doing a good job with Hades and that the writing for Hades seems good out of the gate. Let’s go #operationfirebird
Was I disappointed in an episode where the only people who tried to get to Emma were Hook and Regina while Henry was chilling in Granny’s and Regina’s plan was basically hoping that everyone would be stupid in order for it to succeed? Yes I was. If people compare an episode to The Dark Swan and claim that it was less good, then I really don’t have high hopes for it to be good.

There were a lot of good things that happened in the episode that you are neglecting. How they portrayed Emma’s initial struggle with the darkness along with Rumple’s head voice was spot on I thought. Of course there were issues, like any other episode, I just felt it was an overall, pretty solid start to the season and I thought JMo did a great job with it.
I’m excited to see this one for sure. It’s a biggie.

A large portion of the audience did not like The Dark Swan. Go ahead and like it, that’s fine, but others can say it was horrible if they want. Endings have to be good and it was a terrible ending to the arc, it was inconsistent and anticlimactic and actually didn’t end most of the plot points opened for the season.
Edit: Swan Song is the finale, though seriously my complaint still stands, everything that was introduce in the first episode nothing came of, so while it was a good beginning, it doesn’t stand up with how inconsistent the last five episodes of the season ended up being to what was introduced there.

Ok well I did not like how it ended either. But on its own, The Dark Swan was solid. And the reveal with Excalibur was great. Swan Song is a totally different ball game. The Dark Swan was met with great reviews. Swan Song, not so much.
February 23, 2016 at 5:39 pm #317582RumplesGirlKeymasterHonestly I didn’t like The Dark Swan so if you say that this one is worse? I have no hope for this series whatsoever. My questions are (just yes or no will be enough): 1. Were there any retcons? 2. Were there any inconsistencies? 3. Were there any OOC moments?
1. Not so much
2. Mmm. Yes there was one that made me *head desk*
3. Yes.

February 29, 2016 at 1:42 pm #317778ouatrandothoughtsParticipantRG, was the scene with Pan and Rumple fun, at least? That is literally why I’m watching the episode on Sunday. I will swing the bat for their terrible, terrible relationship even two seasons after I stopped watching.

Hmm. It’s hard to say since “fun” is subjective. But I will say that Robbie Kay as Pan is still totally amazing (he went back into character like he hasn’t had a break at all). Bobby is still Bobby.

That’s really all I needed to know. As long as they’re both playing the characters/relationship with fidelity, I’ll be into it. I think for as unpopular as the Pan twist was, one cannot deny the strength of the dynamic between those two. I’d put it right up there with Cora and Regina for messed up and yet somehow SO compelling.
I love how Robbie was able to bring out this vulnerability in Bobby when they were on the show together like no other character (except, perhaps, Neal/Bae, but he never abused the privilege the way Pan did, lol.) Like, you really felt in the scenes they had together–I’ve rewatched pretty much all of them–that Pan knew EXACTLY how to push his son’s buttons like no one else. And that Rumple was intimidated by him/he got in his head like no one else. I hope they have a few scenes together in this arc (Pan strong-arming his son into a team-up to get him out of the Underworld is all I hope and dream for from Bae-less Once.)

I always thought Robbie was surprisingly going toe-to-toe with Bobbie on the screen, which made their scenes so great.
