“Her Handsome Hero” — Belle turns to Rumplestiltskin with hope of finding a way to protect their child from Hades. However, they disagree over whether to use dark magic, as Belle forbids Rumplestiltskin from using his powers for evil. Meanwhile, Hades secretly meets with Gaston in the Underworld and encourages him to seek revenge on Rumplestiltskin. And this is a problem. Rumple doesn’t want to use his powers for good. He just straight up relies on them for everything–including very bad things. How can there be hope for these two??

Well, the basically confirms what Merlin said back in 5×7.

Merlin: Someday perhaps there will be a person who’s worthy to hold that much power and not let it burn through to darken their soul. But if we can wipe out the darkness, we’ll never have to ask that much of anyone.Rumple, rather than Emma, is the person who is worthy to hold so much power and not let it darken him. I do wonder, however, if doing so is going to cost Rumple. Merlin’s line “we’ll never have to ask that much of anyone” sounds a tad ominous.
