Speaking of people we’ll never hear from again….still no sign of the Camelot Crew.
This has me so worried. I swear, if they don’t end their arc…
I suspect the reasoning is something like this: while Dorothy and Red are coming to terms with their new relationship, Mulan is deciding to be more open about her sexuality.
It’s also possible that the title simply refers to the slippers, since it is Dorothy centric. And perhaps Mulan is in it too. We could still get MulanRouge, and then have it be a Dorothy and Zelena episode. All 4 could be tied into it. I’m not sold that just because the episode title refers to Ruby and an Oz item, it means Dorothy and Red are gonna be a thing. But who knows.

Well I doubt the title is referring to a literal pair of ruby slippers because the concept of the ruby slippers are trademarked specifically for the original MGM movie, which Warner Bros currently owns the rights to. They were silver shoes in the original Frank L. Baum novel, so the show itself settled on silver slippers because of that issue.

She might be writing 519 with Jane. Also, you’re forgetting that we have 12 episodes in 5B this time around, not 11. So yes, we should be getting a 523 this Season.
We don’t know for sure if there is going to be 23 episodes for season. That information was suspect. That was amidst the confusing discussions about which episode would be the finale of 5A. There may be, but there might not be.

Season 5B was always planned as 12 episodes, while 5A was originally planned as 10 episodes until “The Bear King” was added as an episode. “The Bear King” being added didn’t suddenly make 5B 11 episodes instead. Here’s confirmation from both Adam and Jane, regarding 5B’s count:
@DigiRanger1994 no — right now it's 23
— Adam Horowitz (@AdamHorowitzLA) October 28, 2015
@LinLove95 @SwanQueenSwen there are 12 more eps scheduled for season 5. We're not even halfway thru season

@TheMatthewPaul @Betsypaige24 yep

@TheMatthewPaul Yes

Also, here’s a quote from a Variety article:
Horowitz: When we were asked to do the additional episode, it wasn’t part of the initial plan to make it a two-hour story, but what we did do is, we found what we hope is a really engaging story for both of the episodes — and there is a connective tissue between them, but they tell two separate stories. But one pushes right into the other one and kind of takes a left turn a little bit, but we think it’s a lot of fun.

Right, and I do remember OUAT going with the silver slippers. Then what could this title mean? It obviously can’t be the literal meaning and I’m not buying that A&E would engage in a ship tease and name their title after one. If it isn’t literally the ruby slippers, I’m confused as to what it means, metaphorically, or literally. Even if it did mean the couple was Red and Dorothy, “Ruby Slippers” still doesn’t make sense unless they are literally shipping the name.

It could still be a pun on Ruby’s name, even if it doesn’t mean a ship name for her and Dorothy. Ruby might end up using the silver slippers during the episode, hence the title.

Dorothy had them last.

All magic comes with a price!

Now that would be creative and original. Take the iconic name, “ruby slippers,” and spin it by including Cruella. I love it.
