ParticipantSo much spoilery goodness! I’m so jealous of all these people who have seen the first two eps already! GAH!
In regards to Eric, a few of us have discussed before the possibility that he could be their LGBT character. Sounds totally crack on the surface of it, I know, BUT, it’s believed that Hans Christian Anderson wrote The Little Mermaid as a means of expressing homosexual feelings he had for a man who had just become engaged:
Rictor Norton, in My Dear Boy: Gay Love Letters through the Centuries, theorizes that The Little Mermaid was written as a love letter by Hans Christian Andersen to Edvard Collin. This is based on a letter Andersen wrote to Collin, upon hearing of Collin’s engagement to a young woman, around the same time that the Little Mermaid was written. Andersen wrote ”I languish for you as for a pretty Calabrian wench… my sentiments for you are those of a woman. The femininity of my nature and our friendship must remain a mystery.” Norton interprets this as a declaration of Andersen’s homosexual love for Collin.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_little_mermaid#Psychoanalytic_interpretations
So, basically, the whole unrequited love story where the mermaid longs to be with a man who ends up marrying someone else, is quite possibly a reflection of what Anderson was experiencing in his life at the time.Adam recently tweeted that the fandom uproar over the LGBT character issue had no bearing on what they had planned, so when it happens, it’s because it’s what they were already planning to do, not because they’re bowing to the uproar. It sounded like they were already working on this storyline, at the very least had it in mind for some point in the not too distant future. When they’re dealing with so many characters who have previously established, straight endgames, if they’re gonna do an LGBT storyline, they’re gonna have to switch up an endgame we’re all used to at some point. With The Little Mermaid, there would actually be a basis for it that they could work with, to incorporate it into their version of the story, and in doing so, could provide a realisation of what’s believed to be the original inspiration for the story. It could actually be a lovely way for them to honour Anderson’s original intent. It would allow them to tell the story of unrequited love, without having Eric run off and marry some other woman and have people hate him for having rejected Ariel.
Anyway, I’m not saying I’m 100% convinced that that’s where they’re gonna go with Eric, I’m just saying that I think it’s a possibility worth considering, because they’ve said we’re getting an LGBT character, and there’s actually an LGBT association with this particular story.

ParticipantOnce Upon A Time Season 3 opens with a flashback to the birth of Henry, showing the progression for Emma from being someone who chose not to be a mother vs. now, when she wants to be one… even though both times involve losing him.
Making us cry within the first few seconds. Excellent! Good to have that confirmed. I pity the spoilerphobes who will tune in completely unprepared for how they’re gonna have their hearts torn out right from the getgo.
The joy of having a character like Neal, who lived for so long in the “real world,” means we have a character who is well aware of the… “other media” versions of the characters. There’s a shoutout to one of those animated movies in the premiere; the first two episodes also reference how Captain Hook looks in the Peter Pan movie.
YES! Oh, if only our Hook could see what our world has always thought he looked like. 😆
As for Mr. Gold/Rumple, Horowitz teases, “The Rumple character poster says, ‘Believe you can change your fate.’ And whether you can or can’t, is kind of a core dilemma for him [this season]. He’s being ripped back and forth between this prophecy, which says the boy will be his undoing, and the fact that the boy is his blood. What are his priorities? What’s he going to do? How’s he going to wiggle his way out of this? Can he wiggle his way out of this?” Kitsis adds, “[Rumple] believes he has nothing left to live for. He believes he’s responsible for the death of his son. Neal is very important to many characters in the show right now, who are behaving in certain ways under the belief that he’s dead.”
Calling it now, Rumple’s gonna break my heart in every scene he’s in! Robert must be getting some seriously juicy stuff to sink his teeth into this season, and I can’t wait to see him portraying Rumple’s inner struggle more intensely than we’ve ever seen before!
Peter Pan is an interesting story, and I think as it slowly unfolds…he’s a sick, twisted kid…He gets in your head and says ‘Oh what is the thing that you’re most insecure about? I’m going to exploit that!’” Kitsis said.
So seriously excited to see their PP. I already love to hate him, and haven’t even seen him yet. He sounds like such a diabolical little $#&%!!!
The third season premiere of Once Upon A Time gives Henry a brief flashback moment (the first of what producers promise to be at least a few this season with a core one coming in episode nine to show how he got adopted) to see the origins of his specialness, and yes, some of the magic within him comes from his genes. But more of it comes from the fact that he genuinely believes– in magic but also in those around him.
Magical Henry! Yes!
There are five people on the Jolly Roger: Emma, Snow, Charming, Regina and Hook. Four out of those five throw punches at one another in the season opener.
Was the whiteboard spoiler about Snow clocking Charming from 301?
An action-packed, death-filled ten minute segment. Uh-oh…
Wonder if this is on land, or if it’s the mermaid attack? Another article said there’d be lots of mermaids, and we’ve seen them shooting canons into the water, so perhaps there are quite a few casualties? If it’s on land, then I’m gonna guess it’s Lost Ones vs GOAT, and at least one of GOAT will die. Though I’m more inclined to think that the fatal wounding in 302 is about GOAT, so am inclined to think that the death filled 10 mins is about mermaids.
“Your belief of love wasn’t strong enough to overcome your fear of rejection.”
This is so Mulan talking to Neal. Reminiscent of her telling Belle, “Once I found something worth fighting for, I fought for it with everything that I had. I never gave up.”
A reference to Merlin and Excalibur?!
Guess this is gonna be the other realm that gets namechecked? So not Oz? Perhaps this is why whatshisname who plays Lancelot had said he was gonna be back? Maybe that was in their original plan, but they tweaked it so that Arthurian stuff is only mentioned, not actually shown?
The Darling family will also be “integral” to the story overall and to Tinkerbell’s specifically,
This all but confirms for me that Glasses and Keychain will be the Darling boys. They reference the Darling family being important, so that means we’re gonna see more than just Wendy again. Then having a particular connection to Tink, hmmmmm, wonder what that’s all about? Maybe Tink helps them get to NL as they’re searching for Bae?
Warning: there is an incredibly heartbreaking scene between Snow and Emma. Have kleenex at the ready … you’ll need it.
I’m now firmly on the team that believes the scene of Emma yelling at someone to either help or get out of her way, she’s directing that primarily at Snow.
Here’s what I think will happen: Emma will have decided to give up Henry soon after she finds out she’s pregnant. She’s in jail, and has no prospects for when she gets out, so she will feel that giving Henry up for adoption will be “giving him his best shot” a for sure parallel between how Snow and Charming felt putting her in the wardrobe. But maybe she has second thoughts the moment after he’s born, a very common theme especially in tv shows. But, the nurse and/or doctor convince her that’s the right thing to do, and there’s a heartbreaking scene of her letting Henry go. And then we see in Ep9 that the same nurse and doctor are connected to THO, and pass baby Henry on to August/Tink/whoever it is that actually brings him to SB/Gold/Regina. Further confirming that this was a a major ploy to get Henry into the right place at the right time.
Sounds about right to me!

ParticipantMacy, that’s what I think too, and yes Phee on all those speculations.
Can’t wait to see it start and play out 🙂

ParticipantThe world is small. Very small. I just had an interesting conversation with my boss’ nephew who is visiting from the US. It turns out that he got pretty far into auditioning for one of the Lost Boys, namely Ruffio!
I asked for a few details, since he had the whole script of 3×01 in his hand. Not much, but very interesting.
1. Greg and Tamara are still alive at the end of 3×01 (shame! lol)
2. Peter Pan is apparently a reeeeally good guy. Yes you read that right. It’s the shadow that’s evil.
Obviously this info is second hand so i can’t testify to it’s validity, but it’s certainly interesting 🙂

ParticipantHm interesting, because we had a theory around for awhile about something like that, and then GirlhitsCar linked us the Andersen short story about a Shadow that takes over someone’s life. Maybe I’ll look for the link to that thread if someone else doesn’t post it first . There was more than one.
Rufio isn’t an official character but we know they use codenames for people auditioning. I think this might have been Devin.
I think the couple uproar thing (though I like the nod to Andersen’s original motivation) could also be Marian and Robin not being together. PriceofMagic’s definitely not on board with missing-Marian and RH ends up with Regina. So I can see many fans not expecting it and hating the idea. Besides the Tamara is RH daughter idea, is the idea that one of the Lost Ones is Robin’s son/daughter. I think the Eric thing isn’t happening until 3×06 and the spoilers were based on the first 2 episodes. Finding out that Marian is dead, might be the uproar thing, I don’t know.
So maybe that would make sense a little bit. It could also be that Pan plays a game on Henry, makes him think he’s a good guy and they try to escape from the “Shadow”, but its all a game.
They did say PP is complicated.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. ParticipantTaken From http://www.hypable.com/2013/09/24/upon-time-qa-hypable/
Hypable attended a Q&A with Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis Tuesday afternoon. Check out what they had to say about the future of the show!Today ABC screened the first two episodes of Once Upon a Time’s season 3 to members of the press, and Hypable was there to take in all the goods! Afterwards, the screening the creators hosted a fun Q&A session.
Before you check out our Q&A with the creators, be sure to read our article detailing 10 exciting things from the season premiere! These questions are centered around what we saw in the first two episodes, but we’ll remain spoiler free until our review comes out later this week!
It’s all about the past as much as it is about the future.
While season 3 will explore new characters and the story arc of saving Henry from Neverland, it will also delve deeper into backstories of these characters to give us better insight into who they are and how they became that way.
A big part of this is Rumpelstiltskin’s past and how he became the man he was. We’ve seen him run away from the war, the reason we label him as a coward, but we’re about to get a lot more!
Episode 4 will be titled “Nasty Habits,” and it’ll explore Rumpel’s backstory even more. With the exploration of his past, we’ll get to see a lot more of his relationship with his father, and we’re ridiculously excited to see the man who raised Rumpelstiltskin.
Emphasis on an 11 story arc
While this isn’t necessarily new information, Kitsis and Horowitz said that the first 11 episodes will run uninterrupted by hiatuses and breaks and will be a complete arc on its own (the Neverland arc). Their lips are sealed about the next 11, though!
No plans for Camelot in ‘Once Upon a Time’
Despite a reference to Merlin and Excalibur, the show will not be going down the road to Camelot any time soon. Kitsis and Horowitz flat out said “no” when asked if the reference was foreshadowing that world. However, Kitsis did say, “We’re open to it. We could do that. But not in the foreseeable future.”
More Neverland, less Storybrooke
When asked if we’ll get to see Belle and her work in Storybrooke any time soon, Horowitz said that we’ll be spending more time in Neverland than in Storybrooke, at least for the first half of the season. “It’ll be a while until they’re in Storybrooke,” Kitsis adds.
When will we see Ariel?
The show runners let us know that Ariel will make her debut in episode 6, and while Once Upon a Time is known for doing new twists to classic tales, Ariel will keep her wonder about the world, and according to Kitsis, “There’s definitely a fork!”
How was Henry adopted?
The past is a running theme with Once Upon a Time this year. The show will be looking back at it and discovering who people are because of it. Thanks to that we’ll be able to finally see exactly how Henry was adopted, which will take place around episode 9.
Peter Pan’s backstory
In this version of Peter Pan he is someone you definitely do not want to mess with. We’ll get to see why Peter is the way he is with flashbacks to his past and his time with the Darlings, who will absolutely play an integral part in his story.
We asked why the creators made Peter like this, and Kitsis told us, “Someone who refuses to grow up will have a lot of problems. We’re young and we think we never want to grow up, but then we turn 25 and we think, ‘Oh God I’d never want to be 16 again.’ You get over it.” So they’ll explore exactly whyPeter refuses to grow up, and this’ll possibly play a part when it comes to his nature.
And Rufio fans be warned, other than a quick reference, Once Upon a Time will not be including him in this twisted tale. Due to copyright ownership by Columbia, ABC can’t do much with the character. But that doesn’t stop them from referencing him in episode 2!
Will we see Ursula or Prince Eric?
“Yes and yes!” There’s an “excellent chance” of seeing Ariel’s nemesis and her boyfriend on Once Upon a Time, and we’re excited to see how they go about it. But Horowitz was sure to let us know that “Prince Eric is slightly different than he is in the movie,” and we’re wondering exactly what he means by “slightly.”

Participanthe had the whole script of 3×01 in his hand.
…. The only part of scripts that get given to people in audition phases are just little scenes that the character has. Half the time the dialogue is made up. They don’t give scripts for a whole episode until they have been cast.
And for this show in particular, only regulars get the full script. Keegan Connor Tracy and Raphael Sbarge both said during their Q&A sessions at Oz Comic-con that they are only given certain parts of the script that are relevant to their Chartacters. Raphael got the full script every episode of S1 because he was a regular but that stopped at the beginning of S2 because he became re-occuring. They say that they have to go around and talk to one of the regulars if they want to find out everything that is happening.

*shrugs* He said he had it. And he seemed pretty certain the Gregmara don’t die in episode 1. Anyway, that’s why i added my little disclaimer at the end about not knowing if the info was valid.

ParticipantMaybe he just wanted to sound more impressive 😛
I think GOAT might survive beyond the first episode, or at least Tamaraa but I do not think either is going to live much longer. Then the shadow thing has been guessed at a bit, but I still think Pan is sneaky and seeming good to Henry but not.
The writers talk about Heart of Darkness and Kutz when talking about Pan, and to me it suggests Pan is someone who gets corrupted by the power they wield, at first for the benefit of others, falling to savagery and oppression. Kurtz is feared but not really loved and respected, though treated like a demigod. So I think the lost ones respect Pan because of the ripppps but are not truly loyal to him.

It will be interesting to see how right that is. Because your number 2 is really O_____O to me. Especially given all the spoilers calling him sick, twisted, and demonic.

If anyone dies before the other, I think Greg goes first. But I fully expect Tamara to be alive long enough to give us some exposition about why she hates magic (and her *ahem* Hooded family)
I just got SO excited thinking about Sunday's premiere of #OnceUponaTime! All you shippers (yes ALL of you!) can expect some great moments!
