Agreed which is why I mentioned Prince Eric as opposed to one of the Dwarves. If your going to give importance towards this relationship given the heat the writers got over the summer, you do it big or go home. Thinking back now they announced Gil’s casting as a possible recurring character with no mention of that in Joanna’s casting interesting enough given that she’s playing one of Disney’s iconic characters. Which implies to me as I suspect that they are leaving room to potentially make her be this year’s Hook/Neal as a possible character who gets bumped into a regular by the end of the season. To be frank those featured on the cast photo are the Main tier. Anyone else featured on the show is supporting and the writers will use them when the script calls for them being brought out. I don’t see any of the Dwarves having more leeway in being a possibility for a potential love interest for Archie as opposed to just flying in Gil when they choose to. I’d imagine all those in the supporting category (like Aurora, Philip, and Mulan) all have similar contracts with the show.
While Eric is iconic for being Ariel’s love interest, I don’t see Eric as being as important to the overall Once story in terms of characters we’ve already come to know. That is why Arche makes the most sense, followed potentially by one of the 7 dwarves, IMO.

Archie is an already established character who people love and want to see more of. He may technically be recurring now, but I daresay that most fans consider him one of the main characters. Fans have wanted to see him get a chance at falling in love since the show began. So it wouldn’t be an “in passing” type storyline if they revealed that Archie’s gay by pairing him up with a new, recurring character. It’d be a storyline that lots of viewers were interested in seeing. If they wanted to make his partner Eric, then they could be introducing him as part of Ariel’s storyline right now, and maybe we’ll get an Archie centric in the 2nd half of the season where we see them get together in SB.

I know that dwarves aren’t supposed to fall in love, but does that mean the dwarves are just asexual then? I’m not saying the 7 dwarves would act on it, but they are a group of men and female dwarves don’t seem to exist in the Onciverse. Just throwing it out there as a possibility.

I agree that as an already-established character, Archie, makes the most sense to me. However, it makes more sense that he’d partner with someone in SB like Geppetto. (I know Gepptto had a wife at one point, but I think he is a widower now. Maybe he is bisexual). It would make more sense to pair Archie with his best friend than with Eric, which seems a bit random to me. Does Eric even live in current-day SB? So far, he hasn’t showed up in any BTS spoiler photos there, even though we saw Ariel in SB with Belle.
Also, I was just reading on CNN that the new gay character will feature on the new OUAT in WL spin-off:
Kane said that is why his organization eagerly awaits ABC’s new series “Once Upon A Time in Wonderland,” which will feature a gay character. He said diversity of characters goes beyond race and gender and means having gay characters of various ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I’m going to guess right now that the Will, the Knave of Hearts is actually gay and is also a member of RH’s merry men. The knave is a series regular on the show. In an interview with KsiteTV, Michael Socha, who plays the knave, said his character had absolutely no sexual tension with Alice.
Is there a possibility that we will see any kind of triangle between the Knave, Alice, and Cyrusthe genie?
Michael Socha: What, like a love triangle? Absolutely not! No. It’s not like that between the Knave and Alice. There’s no sexual [stuff] going on at all.
Could that be because Will is actually not attracted to women?

I’ve always sort of assumed they’re asexual, yes. The only reason Dreamy was able to feel the emotion of romantic love is because his genetic makeup got altered by the fairy dust.

Granted, that may be the case. If so, then at least the dwarves have platonic love with one another. Anyway, as I wrote in my post above, CNN has confirmed that OUAT in WL is featuring a gay character. I proposed he is the Knave of Hearts, based on an interview I’d read about him having no sexual tension with Alice. I think that the gay character will end up being limited to just the spin-off rather than the main series though. That’s just the feeling I get.

We know Emma falls overboard so either she does it on purpose or Gold gets away from the others by swimming. Interesting, wouldn’t think Emma would go over on purpose, but then why would Gold swim when he could just teleport or something…

I think Prince Charming voluntarily will jump in after Emma falls overboard. He’ll save her.

Don’t see why they couldn’t have gay characters on both shows. Maybe Will and Eric used to date. 😉

I had this little crack idea the other day that maybe the mermaids can shapeshift, to appear as someone they’re not, in order to lure their prey into the water. At the time I was thinking it could be a mermaid appearing as Neal, and that makes Emma jump in to try and save him. But it could also be a mermaid appearing as Henry, and that’d do the trick to get Emma in the water too.

On the Eric/Archie thing–I do like the idea and nod, but I think Slurpeez is probably right. It could be a very interesting storyline though if they did it to pick up the theme of “silver lining” to the curse they were going to do for Frankenwolf. Although I like my crack Hookriel ship, I feel I wouldn’t like both of these to happen at the same time. The reason is I feel it would seem marginalizing if they did it that way because Hook is a main character, and Ariel if recurring/regular/main still more screen time than 2 recurring characters. So that’s my reservation. I actually like this idea so much I’d ship it above Hookriel, because I feel it could be very deep above just another ship of classic characters in a crazy mashup.
Many people do view not being straight as a “curse” and it could be profound to have a couple of characters say “No, it isn’t, it is who we are, and we choose this.” I sort of a have a head cannon, that part of Regina’s curse was that Archie and Eric were friends, who used to walk Pongo and Perdita together. During the curse, they were restricted to being friends, but after it ends, they realized as Ariel sings “They want more…”. Not to steal too much from brokeback mountain, but they can’t quit each other. So then we could have a very emotional scene of Eric saying “before the curse I was trapped, because I had all these expectations placed upon me but here in SB I am free, to be myself, and to be with you.” I don’t know something like that. It’s giving me feels.
But as I said, if they do that it might be at the expense of Ariel being bumped up to a regular character, and I do want Ariel on the show as she’s a childhood favorite princess.
So.., like Regina ripping out Henry Sr’s heart, I’m feeling conflicted 😛

I didn’t even think of that, makes much more sense haha. I couldn’t see Emma jumping in voluntarily, but Gold swimming in leather would’ve been too funny 😛
