–Is this Deniz Akdeniz’s natural accent? Or is he doing a (bad) Cockney accent to demonstrate that Aladdin is more poor compared to Jasmine’s posh British accent?
Deniz Akdeniz is Australian.
[adrotate group="5"]October 24, 2016 at 4:00 pm #329192GrimmsisterParticipantI watched the whole episode 🙂 I said somewhere that I would only watch certain clips on yotube, because I couldnt sit through a whole episode anymore, but I changed my mind. So trying to just cast all plotholes and corny writing aside…And now Once is totally getting into my blood again.
I loved the Aladin and Jasmin story. I liked the colors of Agraba. We saw Abu “help” Aladin. and the parrot (forgot its name) was also there. Was the parrot and the girl oracle one and the same? I didnt quite get that,, but the parrot was the oracle right? and so was the girl, so the girl was the parrot but in her Storybrook version, just like Archie is a man and not a cricket in Storybrook… usually.
speaking of crickets, that was my FAVE moment. Zelena turning Archie into his cricket self and the scenes of Evil Queen and Zelena leading up to that. lol lol !!! Fave Fab moments !!

I’m not sure that explains his accent honestly. I knew he “British” sounding but his accent sounded like he was playing up parts of it.

A prince or something, then, just pretending to be a thief?

October 24, 2016 at 4:29 pm #329202MatthewPaulModeratorGiven that Rumple played a HUGE part in making Emma the Savior, you’d think he’d have more to do this season besides slowly destroy his romantic relationship.
Wouldn’t this storyline be a golden opportunity to actually explore how Rumple found out about Saviors? We know that Emma became the Savior as a result of Rumple including a dash of her parents’ true love with the Dark Curse, but there’s certainly more that could be told. We know how he went about doing it, but we don’t know what led him to that conclusion.

It really would be! And I’d be more interested in that story than I am in the current never ending Rumbelle…silliness for wont of a better term.

Did not care for this really. Was pretty disappointed. They had been hyping this up for awhile now and what we got felt incredibly simplistic. Now we didn’t get the classic pick up and twirl Jasmine scene which makes me think we will see more of them in Agrabah so that gives me so hope. Can someone clarify something for me: did Aladdin just become a “savior” when he touched the “diamond in the rough?” And did Jasmine know that was going to happen? If so, why didn’t she just take the diamond for herself and give herself the power?
Liked:
– I actually liked the two actors playing Jasmine and Aladdin. With Aladdin, I thought he was just goofy enough like the movie and really looked the part. The romance was fast but I guess I’m immune to that on this show.
– Emma and Henry scene.
– Snow and Emma scene.
– Regina finding out Emma thinks it could be her under the cloak. And then Regina dismissing it and still trying to help them in the moment.
– Jafar’s magic is very violent. Idk how it was on the spinoff show but we saw in the premiere this season he slammed that girl against the wall really hard. And then he shoved Jasmine into the wall really hard again in this episode. It was quite violent which I appreciate. I like when they distinguish everyone’s magic a little and not just by colors. Hades had a little taste for the theatrics and even bowed before poofing away. I like that Jafar is violent and uses his snake cane as his magic. Was there an origin story about how Jafar actually became Jafar and how he got his staff? Did they tackle that in Wonderland bc that is something I’d like to see.
– Aladdin and the apple. Oh and the “I can show you the world” line.
– I thought the CGI held up decently. It was cool to see the hour glass and magic carpet and the Abu statue.
– The bird on Jafar…..is that actually a real bird? If not, it actually looked pretty good.
– Sister bonding at the Three Bears Spa. Good god hilarious.Mixed:
– The cave looked ok I guess. It’s hard bc in the movie it was so massive and it looked so cool. Here, we had one room full of gold.
– Zelena turning evil again. Listen, I get she has walked this fence a lot and can be persuaded quite easily but she literally just saved everybody by killing the one she loved. She was supposedly good. I hate the flip floppiness just to serve the plot at hand.
Disliked:
– So the oracle actually was an oracle? Is the Oracle the red bird? The same bird on Jafar’s shoulder? Where did she come from? It made more sense that it was Jafar disguised as the oracle instead of just having a random girl show up in the woods.
– What are Jafar’s motivations? How did JAsmine get to the Land of Untold Stories? Why did Aladdin choose the way out of being a Savior? Did Jafar actually work under the Sultan like in the movie? What does he want? In the moview he wanted to marry Jasmine and become the ruler so when Aladdin came along, that was a wrench in his plan. What does he want now? All these new characters were thrown at us but the flashback felt so simplistic and I didn’t feel I truly understood why the characters were doing what they were doing.
– Open sesame. Really? And why didn’t the face on the cave talk? I mean, come on.
– Hook, what on Earth are you doing? THESE TWO NEED TO STOP LYING TO EACH OTHER. I get why he’d want to keep it but you have to tell Emma.
– No Mr. Gold/Rumple. Boo. He better have an arc this season that isn’t just him abusing Belle.
– This episode didn’t move the plot along at all. All we found out was that Aladdin was here hiding the whole time and there are shears that can take Emma away from being the Savior. There has to be more they have up their sleeve as to why they introduced Aladdin and Jasmine this year. It has to be more than just because Aladdin was a former Savior. They have to tie in to something more, and Jafar as well.

1) I think the diamond “activated” his Saviorhood?
2) No idea at all
3) See above.

Yes they did tackle it in WL. Episode 104, which was one of the very best.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 25, 2016 at 4:20 pm #329274PriceofMagicParticipantThis felt like a general filler episode, it was okay but nothing that really stuck out.
Favourite moment is EQ and Zelena at the spa. Probably the highlight of the episode.
Aladdin and Jasmine seem decent enough characters and had some nice moments. Jafar’s actor also does a decent job.
Henry wasn’t annoying this episode and the moment between him and Emma was nice, though I think it would’ve been more powerful if Emma hadn’t ditched him for Hook for the last few seasons.
I dislike the fact there was no Rumple or Belle, though it is one less episode used to destroy them so YMMV.
The shears are going to come into play for Robin Hood’s return. The 3 fates were in Hercules which featured Hades who was last season’s villain. God I wish we could just have a spinoff with Cruella and Mordred in the Underwood, it would be more fun and less melodramatic than OUAT currently is.
Overall I’d give the episode 5/10, I neither hated nor loved it, it’s just kind of there.
All magic comes with a price!
