Oh my, this is the best episode of the season hands down and perhaps one of my all time favorites.
Overall: 9/10
Liked:
– Belle’s speech to Rumple. The acting was unreal between these two.
-The twist with the shared hearts and the sleeping curse from EQ was genius. I always roll my eyes when a villain could kill someone but they choose to do something they feel is more torturous simply bc the writers don’t want to kill off anybody. But this, what the EQ did instead of killing one or both of them, is so awful. Bravo Jane Espenson. Bravo.
– Snowing was going to actually sacrifice their lives???? Jesus. And Regina and Emma were going to fight the EQ. They were going to give it all they had. Graveyard scene really was solid and Lana is just amazing at being the EQ. Hooray for the EQ finally doing something!
– Hook and Emma scene with the book. Incredible.
– Blue Fairy changing into her big self was actually kinda cool. I don’t believe that was ever established that she could do that but I liked it.
– I liked the camera shot of Snow in the Woodcutter’s box and Charming just outside of it so we could see both at the same time. I was worried that this would kill their first face to face meeting from season 1 but it actually worked for me. That one line from Snow about her not being alone bc someone believes in her was some great writing.
– Zelena turning green…….yikes.
– Water wasn’t a magical macguffin. It actually was from the Underworld arc. Yay.
Mixed:
– Rumple and Regina making out. Like, uhhhhh, I get it. They have always had chemistry but it just doesn’t work on camera for me.
– The sapling. I liked the Snowing montage a lot and it was a fun way for them to find out they actually had met before. However, the whole Blue Fairy using her wand and poof they found where it was…eye roll
Disliked:
– No Aladdin Jasmine and Jafar. No savior mythology stuff. So this arc came to a halt but I get the sense that the EQ storyline and the Emma savior Aladdin Jafar storyline will not merge together. EQ will run a muck til the midseason premiere and then the second half will bring the savior stuff back. At least that’s my guess.

I re-thought about this. We’ve seen Tinkerbelle do it in 3×03 when she meets Regina and they go that outdoor pub together, so it’s not as mixed as I originally thought.

Nova turned big in “Dreamy”, and that dates all the way back to Season 1.

Her True Love died pretty recently at her own hand. Wasn’t she actually in love with the dude? Ugh, I can’t with this whole silly soap opera side plot, this part of the writing looks like bad fanfiction
Yes magic mechanics aside, I think she’s turning green because once again Regina–the EQ this time–is getting everything she always wanted while Zelena isn’t, even if doesn’t really want Rumple anymore. It’d be nice if Zelena would bring up Hades to remind everyone that while the EQ has a new romance, Zelena just very recently lost hers.
.
I think it is more that EQ lied to her and ZELINA realizes she is being used by EQ. She really does not have the sister – sister bonding that she expected from EQ.

The girl is a bird during the day and the boy is a wolf at night … they have human forms at opposite times ..and the only time they get be together is a sun rise and sun set when they get to see each other as human for a minute or two. I think the story is NATIVE AMERICAN but it could be from the Slavic countries. I remember bits and pieces from the story but I saw it / read about it many years ago. </strong
The other tale that this story reminds me of is about a princess and her seven brothers… they turn into swans all day long flying about, at sunset they turn back into human being. She has to break the curse by a certain day or they stay swans forever. She has to sew each one a shirt without help from anyone. She makes the shirts and put the shirts on her brothers changing them back into humans. She did not complete one of the shirts so one brother ends up with a swan wing instead of an arm. (??? SWAN LAKE???)CAN anyone help me with this?

Favorite scene was where Evil Queen takes the Charmings heart. It was visually so well made, the camera angles and that heart when it was cursed and was beating, that looked awsome. And sound the effects, like -Shclyyp!! When Evil Queen ripped out the heart”s” Plus it was so well acted too, to no ones surprise.. Disdain for Snow and delight at winning dripping off of Evil Queen.
I loved the idea of having the Charmings share a sleeping curse with their shared hearts and this being Evil Queens best revenge, to have Snow be without her loved one.. Its so cruel!.. right up Evil Queen alley.
The Rumple and Belle scene was also great. That speech she gave him was spot on. You Go Girl! finally she is seing the light.

This one is “The Wild Swans”- by Hans C. Andersen

Quick google research found this-
The Day Boy and Night Girl, also referred to as The Romance of Photogen and Nycteris, is an 1882 fairy tale novel by George MacDonald. A version of this story appeared in Harper’s Young People as a series beginning on 2 December 1879 and completing on 6 January 1880.
No wait the one you refer to is “Ladyhawke” I think!!

Yep, that is indeed the plot of Swan Lake.
Which is a “creative borrowing” of a foundational origin story from a southeast Siberian indigenous group. The story’s called xYn-shubuun, which means man-bird or human-bird. It’s about a huntsman who finds a swan, who, as such things go, turns into a beautiful woman. He convinces her to marry him, and they live together and have a bunch of children. Eventually, as she grows older, she requests he give her back her swan outfit so she can turn back into a swan and rejoin her siblings in the sky. He complies, and she turns back into a swan and leaves to be with her swan family, while the humans begin to worship the swan as the progenitor of their clan.
Can’t help you with the Native American story.
