–The Black Fairy took Gideon. Soooo, she’s the next Big Bad. On the one hand, cool. On the other, Jafar is…doing what? His point this year was…what?
To destroy our Wonderland dreams.
[adrotate group="5"]December 5, 2016 at 2:23 pm #331281MattParticipantFinally there is someone who seems to be more evil than Rumple who he will most likely have to go up against to protect his family!
December 5, 2016 at 3:20 pm #331291thedarkonedearieParticipantI actually did not like this episode very much. I hated the AU, it felt sloppy and rushed. Some good things but mostly, eh.
Overall: 6/10
Liked:
– Season 1 callbacks in the AU. EQ gliding into the room. I liked that Regina had to pretend to be the EQ.
– Black Fairy appears to be the next villain.
– Aladdin and Jasmine will be back…Aladdin said so…which gives me hope Jafar will be back.
– Regina sees Robin. Heartbreaking. How could you not stop and just have your heart hit the floor.
Mixed:
– So there’s a realm that’s so dark that it Rumple can’t get to it and it speeds up time as opposed to Neverland, which slowed down time? Ok…. We better see this.
– All the wishes were just so weird and clunky and disjointed. Like that’s what Charming came up with? She gets what she deserves? And what happened to people getting three wishes? If a different person rubs the lamp, do their wishes go away?
– Gideon under the hood. Needs soooooo much explanation. Why he’s here? Why he’s dark and so powerful? Why he wants to kill Emma. How he got here? I’m fine with the revelation but it just doesn’t make sense right now.
– I guess it makes sense that to snap Emma out of it she needed to be the Savior. But like, what about everyone else? So if real Emma existed in this world, does that mean the world is real? If the real Snowing didn’t actually die, how was Emma the only real person who could snap out of it and remember. Really shotty world building.
– So Emma and Regina are still in this world. Uhhh, ok but like where is this going? I didn’t love the world to begin with. Was kinda hoping they wouldn’t keep anybody there.
Disliked:
– The AU world was dumb. So it was fake…but it was real? And Emma was real but the others weren’t
– Why wasn’t Robin Hood old? He should be old right?
– Blue was not black fairy the whole time…nope instead we got a battle off screen that left Blue reincarnated as a rag.
December 5, 2016 at 3:21 pm #331292thedarkonedearieParticipantOh also…creepy Rumple in cell, good. He has a magic bean….BAD.
December 5, 2016 at 4:33 pm #331301PriceofMagicParticipantA fairly decent finale.
Love the fact that RumBelle are finally putting aside their differences and working together for the sake of their son.
Snowing don’t look old in the wish world, they just have grey hair. Surely some prosthetics could’ve been used to age Josh and Ginny.
The logical inconsistency- If Bae was around to have Henry with Emma (Glad they didn’t forget him) then why would Rumple still need the dark curse? Its original purpose was to get him to the land with out magic so he could find Bae.
This episode does kind of feel like it’s stealing the wish dimension idea from Buffy. Even Hook seems like he has taken on some Spike-esque mannerisms.
If the show does go with Shady Blue Fairy and that is the big reveal then I’ll be quite impressed. It won’t make up for the load of crap we’ve had to deal with in the past few seasons but it’s a step in the right direction.
All magic comes with a price!

Two other people brought this up but the plot of a son being stolen and raised in a hellish dimension by a black hat person only to come home and exact revenge on his father…is literally the plot of S3-4 of Angel.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"December 5, 2016 at 9:37 pm #331332sierraleoneParticipantbut I am going to assume that it is like a dream world so it does not have to make sense.
Is it though? Because they don’t leave the world by waking up–they (almost) take a very literal magic bean that created a very literal portal back to their very literal Storybrooke. That’s the problem. If this was a dream world, then the bases are covered and we can handwave away all the wonkyness. But it was never stated as such. Belle was still asleep when she went to dream world, her subconscious traveled. But Emma and Regina–their very bodies and beings–traveled to this AU.
Edited (because I should read the whole thread first).
So the A.U. didn’t exist, but does exist and is real now, due to the wish?
If the world is REAL, then Regina *really* did kill real people, these A.U. Charmings. And good luck Emma explaining why to your son why you are working with his grandparents’ killer. And I hope Henry you are ready to be upgraded from new-Knight to King virtually over-night! Because Emma isn’t going to stick around.

Right. They really need to address this one. I bet 10 cookies that they won’t, though.

December 6, 2016 at 12:55 am #331349BelleOfTheBallParticipantThe logical inconsistency- If Bae was around to have Henry with Emma (Glad they didn’t forget him) then why would Rumple still need the dark curse? Its original purpose was to get him to the land with out magic so he could find Bae.
So I kind of made up my own theory to go with this since i don’t think we will get an explanation from the writers:
Everything up until the Dark Curse remained the same. So, WISH Bae still took the bean to The Land Without Magic, went to the Darlings, and then went to Neverland. This would lead WISH Rumple to think that his son still traveled to TLWM, which would make him pursue the Dark Curse (as we know he did in real life). Now as far as I can remember we didn’t get an exact date or time that Bae traveled from Neverland to a Land Without Magic. I always assumed he was around the same age as Emma, and he was at least 8 or 9 in Neverland, which means Emma would have had to grow up in TLWM a few years before Bae technically escaped Neverland so they would be closer in “age” (ignoring the fact that Bae is actually centuries old). So, in this theory, that does not put WISH Bae in TLWM at the exact time the curse is supposed to be enacted (he would have still been in Neverland). Meaning, WISH Rumple would still be perusing the dark curse to try to get to the land he believes his son traveled to, just as he did in the real timeline. So even though WISH EQRegina was defeated and the dark curse was never enacted, WISh Rumple was still trying to pursue the idea.
Now, how WISH Bae ended up back in the enchanted forest instead of in TLWM world is just a guessing game. My best guess is that the Shadow just took him anywhere Emma was, since they were fated to be together to produce the Heart of the Truest Believer and we all know Pan was waiting for Henry. And his death in Wish land? Probably died in a battle of some kind before Henry was born? Slaying a dragon or something? I dont know, again a guessing game. And unfortunately, answers we probably wont ever get.
But this is how I explained the whole thing in my head. Of course there are some loopholes, like Rumple being a seer. But what is a Once theory without a few loopholes, right?

– The sword as a way to defeat the Queen is revealed – Progress!
– Aladdin and Jasmine leave for Agrabah! – More Kind of Progress!
– Gideon as being under the hood, and the fact that he was previously in a sped-up dark realm. I like this concept and hope we get to see the realm and learn more about it.
– Jmo’s acting as WW Emma was so much fun – I love how this show constantly gives its characters opportunities to play different versions of themselves.
– Seeing Robin (sorta) again.
MIXED
– Still no reveal that Blue and Black are one in the same. I have not hoped for a theory to be true in this show more than this one. It would make so much sense, but also be a “surprise” – a logical twist. At least it seems like it’s still a slight possibility. #HOPE
– The AU Wish World – More logical consistency would have been nice, but I can buy the whole, “It’s Emma’s ‘fantasy’ so it doesn’t have to make total sense,” I guess, but what was up with the way WW Snow and Charming died?! They were just sitting there, and boom, their heads just fall to the side. LOL.
– Gold cutting ties with EQ. I’m very alright seeing this relationship end, but it seemed OOC for Gold to let her go unscathed with just a threat after what she did to Belle.
– EQ getting turned into a snake. It’s cool to see that Gideon is so powerful, but it sort of just seems like a way to shelve the character until it’s convenient to bring her back.
DISLIKED
– I could maybe go with the idea that genie lamps work differently than genie bottles, – I think A&E made a point of making a distinction in interviews – but we’ve already been shone that genies give three wishes back in “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree.” If this genie/lamp randomly plays by different rules, fine, but at the very least acknowledge that and give us some sort of reason why. Don’t punish your long-term fans, reward them.
– I would have liked to have seen a tie-in to the Land of Untold Stories since that seemed to be a driving force when the season started. We haven’t dealt with it since Nemo in episode 6, unless you count Jasmine.
