Damn. No Whale. I was really hoping that one scene last night was just going to be a lead-in to next week.

So is Snow’s plan just going to fall by the wayside because we know that Hank hasn’t been seen on set for some time (actually, IIRC, no time after this episode was shot, except for reshoots). I guess it’ll be alluded to in dialogue should Jekyll survive.

Meanwhile Blaine—I mean Whale–can go back to messing up Liv Moore’s life–I mean being a doctor, scientist, teacher.

    – I didn’t realize Violet was showing up before 6×09. Did we know this?

    – I like the idea of American folklore in the show – We’ve now had a Rip Van Winkle shout out in 4A and deleted scene in 3A, the Paul Bunyan storybook page from 5×23, and now this. Color me intrigued.

So, I get the impression that this Mary character, seen as Jekyll’s romantic partner in one of the sneak peeks, is based on the character Mary Reilly from the novel of the same name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Reilly_(novel). In short, it’s a re-telling of Jekyll and Hyde via the perspective of Jekyll’s maid, Mary. She falls in love with Jekyll.

There was even a movie adaptation starring Julia Roberts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Reilly_(film)

Did anyone catch who was Tom Sawyer and when he was in the episode? I missed him.

I assumed he was the boy with the straw hat in Snow’s class, but could be wrong?

Yes, that must have been him – good catch. They must be planning on showing his backstory later this season, right? That would be the first time we got the backstory of a child in present-day since Hansel and Gretel in Season 1.

I would say so, as he was the only kid in class who wasn’t wearing strict uniform from what I could see.
