Intriguing….
20,00 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne?
"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy
I too was thinking possibly 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. If it’s a nautical related episode either way, I have a feeling that this could be a Hook centric.
Agreed on both counts—20,000 Leagues and Hook centric
No doubt we’ll get to see Hook do more vile things in the flashbacks of Dark Waters. Here’s a quote from COD:
“Here’s the good thing about Hook: he’s a 300-year-old pirate, so he’s done a lot of things,” said O’Donoghue. “What we see is going to test his relationship with some people in Storybooke because you know, he’s done so much that he’s not proud of and I think with who he is now as a character, it’s going to be tough for him to try and reconcile with that.”

I wonder if it’s this episode he’s referring to? Anyway, it’s good to know that someone will hold the man to account for his past. Not Emma – she’ll continue to be all over him like a sightless invertebrate. I’m hoping it’s David. I don’t like him being friends with Hook.
Just went to read the wiki recap of 20000 Leagues to see if there was any obvious role that Hook could have played in the story, and found this:
Verne returned to the theme of an outlaw submarine captain in his much later Facing the Flag. That book’s main villain, Ker Karraje, is a completely unscrupulous pirate acting purely and simply for gain, completely devoid of all the saving graces which gave Nemo—for all that he, too, was capable of ruthless killings—some nobility of character.
I’m hoping it’s David. I don’t like him being friends with Hook.
THIS!
In the event that this is 20,000 Leagues, I bet we’ll get a CGI giant squid, which we technically already got in “Nasty Habits”. You know what that would mean? More squid ink for Jeremy!

Oh he’ll love that. Maybe this squid is the source of all the magic squid ink?????!!!

Another theory that randomly popped in my head is what if OUAT’s giant squid in 20,000 Leagues ended up being Ursula? It could be a way to get her back on the show. Not to mention, if this is a Hook centric, it would make sense if Ursula had tried getting revenge on him before. We’ve also never got their take on a giant Ursula, a key aspect of The Little Mermaid’s climax. However, the main thing that could poke a hole in this theory is that Merrin Dungey is currently a regular on the new ABC show, Conviction.
