It wasn’t the greatest season half premiere, but it was far better than what I was expecting!
Liked:
Ugly Duckling Flashback! It was nice to see August cross paths with Young Emma.
This Robin Hood, we should have gotten this Robin Hood from the start!! Sassy, strong, witty, independent, and his own character!!! Clearly Sean Maguire is having a ball playing this revamped version of his character, who even though I know will leave somehow, but I will enjoy him till then!
Gideon, his storyline, I’m a little iffy about. However, I’m still very much interested in his character, and how his relationship with his parents evolves. I definetly need more Rumbelle Family scenes this half season!
Consider all of my feels shot because OutlawQueen has momentarily been resurrected! And what’s even better is, this Robin Hood is on Regina’s level…he’s not holding her purse anymore, he’s taking action! The Tavern and dungeon scene….yeah, I teared up a bit! Robin and Regina have met four different times, and each time, Robin was never once scared or wary of the Evil Queen; he sees under her mask and treats her as a human being, rather than a monster. And he gave her the feather and the hug in their last scene…okay, I’m done! OTP!
Wish Realm Hook, that was very entertaining! Colin clearly enjoyed himself!!!
I missed Imp Rumple so much! “I have to hurt somebody, and you seem like the best candidate!”
“We make our own fate!” Well hello, Season 1 Emma Swan!!!
Mixed:
Killing the Savior to become a Savior…I don’t think that’s how it works. Why couldn’t they have given a better reason for Gideon’s need to kill Emma.
Someone please place a protection spell on the Clock Tower, I know whoever fixes it, is sick of it always getting broken.
Disliked:
Once again…the “heroes” are threatening someone else’s child. As if kidnapping and sending to another realm, Maleficent’s infant daughter wasn’t enough, but now David is outright threatening to murder Belle’s son, whom she just gave birth to yesterday. Like I understand his daughter’s life is on the line, but David, you could think of different solutions instead of automatically jumping to killing Rumple and Belle’s only son.
Regina Mills, one of the most powerful sorceresses in all the realms, allowed herself and her soul mate to be locked up in a cage by guards, and imprisoned by Rumplestilskin? Okay, then!

I had a hard time paying attention to the story…. other things kept grabbing my interest…. NOT GOOD as this is the first time I have been kind of bored by the show…. Maybe my fault.. maybe the show.
I did like FAT HOOK
The Rumple / Belle dialogue … it is about time.DID not care for ROBIN HOOD / REGINA interaction … not riveting
TOTALLY DISLIKED grown AUGUST with Emma … the kid with Emma was interesting but …I have always disliked grown up AUGUST and his wastrel life that lead to Emma’s being in prison. I said before and I say again … put a match to the guy. YEAH he built a new wardrobe .. so what.

The Author’s quill works like that: draw it quickly across blank paper while holding a picture of the finished work clear in your mind, and text appears on the paper.

Mmmm. But the Quill itself if magical (and apparently contains a soul) and needs a special and specific person to wield it. The tree that turns into the wardrobe is magic but neither August nor the chisel are magical like Henry and the Quill. Even if August super believes in himself that still doesn’t change the fact that the chisel is just a chisel.

August retained aspects of his magical tree nature while in human form in the real world. That could give him a special affinity for that sort of work. He might know what the wood wants to become; I think this sounds like something he’d say.
August could be a descendant of Merlin, what with 1,000 years of pollen getting around.

The post I wrote here yesterday has disappeared. I must have done something weird.

I was unhappy about a few things
-The tree being carved so fast…not even Gepetto carved that fast with his magic chisel 28 years previously.
-We didn’t get to see the aged up EQ.
-Why they needed the wardrobe in the first place. Couldn’t Emma have just conjured up a submarine type vehicle and have the mermaids guide them? (Maybe it is too difficult get hold of a mermaid?)
-Too much ”just believe”. I realise that this is a show about hope and belief but I really think they crossed a line today.
I was happy about a few things, too. I am so glad that RH is back, and much spunker than before. Despite how we got there, I enjoyed seeing Pinocchio, too. The dynamic between Rumple and Gideon was also amazing. And people scarpering the moment Regina walked into the pub lol some where even jumping out of the window, and Robin just sits there.
Anyone else got the feeling that this other Robin is just stringing Regina along so that he can ”acquire” more riches in his new world? I really hope not….
I hope his presents contributes to the plot, and that he is not just around for fan service.

Gosh I hope not. The OQ fanbase would go nuclear

Hmmm… If he stayed young by stealing magic from powerful magic users…

Liked:
– How Emma got her name. I thought the ugly duckling thing was quite clever and I’m glad it was August who helped her with it.
– Seeing the tavern where Regina first saw Robin with Tink.
– Gideon and Rumple dynamic
– Very happy that they didn’t spend more than this episode in the Wish Realm. I did not care for it at all.
– Hook was funny.
Mixed:
– Emma’s fight with Gideon. It actually looked pretty cool. But it was so fast and like…was that really it? Just believe you can change your fate and poof, you can? What about the shears of destiny? So Jafar’s plan is just null and void and pointless as long as the Savior believes they can change it?
– The damn clock tower. Can they pick something else please.
– I’m kind of annoyed that Gideon doesn’t actually seem like a bad person but if it leads to us seeing how manipulative and horrific black fairy is, then that’s fine by me. Just get her involved sooner rather than later. Clearly she filled his young mind with nonsense.
Disliked:
– I’m not sure I really disliked anything. Certain things irked me but nothing too bad.
– OH WAIT JUST KIDDING. How on Earth could they bring back Robin through the tree? Is this not some serious retconning or what?????? The wardrobe could only take two people back. I thought that was the deal right from the pilot of this show. Am I missing something here? Please tell me I’m missing something.
Why on earth does Gideon believe that if he kills Emma he can be a Savior? That’s now how this works at all.
I’m pretty sure Black Fairy told him that’s how it works. She probably wants the Savior dead.
Robin’s soul went into Wish Realm!Robin?? What is that nonsense?
I think this has to do with Charming’s wish of the EQ getting what she deserved. So the EQ turned into a snake, and Regina, who is part of the EQ, unfortunately gets Wish Realm Robin turning up in her life to cause grief. Or this is just all still leading to EQ getting what she deserves which actually is Legit Thief Wish Realm Robin. Maybe she deserves a happy ending too. But to me, the fact Robin didn’t age means that Charming’s wish has affected why Robin’s soul is in the Wish Realm.
The fat-shaming in this episode bothered me a lot. It’s practically a crime when directed against a woman, but it’s okay, even funny, when directed against a man? Especially when a beautiful woman such as Emma is making the comments?
Yup. Double standard much?
