I’m guessing it wasn’t her who cast the curse. It’ll be a plot twist. Someone we didn’t expect.
Drizella is my bet. She got a sniff of how powerful magic can be when she watched her mother *poof* the fairy godmother. And it was Drizella who ripped the book away from Lucy and wanted it destroyed.

I did appreciate Jeremy’s rant about it in the podcast though, because he wasn’t wrong. This show was originally supposed to be how there are these fairytale characters in well known stories, and SURPRISE all those retellings of any given fairytale are based on THESE SPECIFIC REAL PEOPLE, and so here’s how the original story actually played out. Like the analogy he made, that even if Bollywood made a movie about Napoleon, it’d still just be a retelling of the story of that French guy, even though all the actors are Indian. So there suddenly being multiple different ORIGINAL versions of these characters, just doesn’t make sense with the original premise and core mythology of the show.
But then I’m like…it didn’t even 100% make sense in the beginning of the show anyway, because those stories have been around for centuries but they portrayed the EF as running parallel in time to our world. So basically, it just makes my head hurt too much to try and rationalise the logic of it all, and I’m at a point where I’m jut throwing my hands in the air in defeat and being all OK fine, Show, there are multiple Cinderellas and this version that Henry’s a part of it happening in current time. It makes no sense, but OK fine.

Though, i agree, i am definitely at the place where this show hasn’t made sense in years and you just have to go with it. The world building and the story is just terrible. It just isn’t a good story.

Yes, there are 400 versions of Cinderella, but they’ve essentially taken the Disney version and added a Hispanic Cinderella. This is not based on any other real version. If they were going to go this route they needed to commit to a real alternate version.
I’ve also decided that time must be different in this alternate Enchanted Forest. It’s the only explaination as to why Regina, Hook, and Rumple are the same age while Henry has aged at least 15 years.
October 12, 2017 at 10:36 pm #343175timespacerParticipantI had a different reaction. I assumed from the beginning, all the way back to the pilot, that the Enchanted Forest and all the characters there were from an alternate reality, so there could be an infinite number of versions of all of them. An alternate reality seemed the most likely assumption since we knew they lived in a land with magic while the original curse would send them to “A Land Without Magic.”
When they established in the Second Season that the Enchanted Forest and our world were synchronized in time, the idea of alternate realities also avoided the contradiction that most of the characters (like Snow, Charming, and Regina, et al) were only born a few decades ago while their stories in our world have been around for centuries (The story of Cinderella is more than 2000 years old and goes back at least to Ptolomaic Egypt.)
So I have no problem with the story logic of alternate realms with alternate versions of the characters. It does appear that time runs faster in this alternate realm where Henry aged, much like the Black Fairy’s realm. Maybe these alternate realms are all orbiting black holes! 8>) [Just joking – I don’t want them to mix sf with fantasy!] How well they execute the idea of alternate realms dramatically, remains to be seen.

I tried with all my might to give these new characters a chance, but after seeing the premiere of season 7 I just don’t like any of the new characters. Especially Cinderella and Lady Tremaine. Dania Ramerez and Gabrielle Anwar were, for me, the weakest link of the entire episode. (I’m sorry, but both Dania Ramerez and Gabrielle Anwar’s accents sound completely ridiculous to me. Every time Dania Ramerez speaks I just want to cringe, and every time Gabrielle Anwar speaks I just want to burst into laughter. Are those their real accents? Because they sound utterly ridiculous. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to cast these two actresses?) Alice might still be redeemable, I need to see more of her before I make up my mind, but I instantly dislike both Cinderella and Tremaine. I also don’t like that they explained virtually nothing in this episode. You can actually skip this episode and still have pretty much the same amount of information that you had after watching it. That is not a good thing at all.
The only things I liked about the episode:
-Lana Parrilla/Regina/Roni. Put her in front of my screen and I’m happy. The more story arcs they have that involve Regina/Roni the better the show will be.
-Andrew J. West as adult Henry. I think he actually does a believable job at portraying an older Henry. I’m willing to see where he takes the character.
My biggest concern at the moment is how much will we get to see Regina/Roni in this season? She didn’t get a lot of screen time in the premiere, (which hasn’t happened in a long time), and it seems as though she is not going to get a lot of screen time in episode 2 either. So I’m just worried that the majority of the season is going to be like that. (It also seems like there is going to be a lot of focus on Hook this season.) Since I don’t really like any of the new characters, if I’m not going to get to see my favorite character (Regina/Roni) all that much then I really don’t see the need to continue to watch the show. I’m going to give it until episode 5. If Regina’s screen time is still low by episode 5 then I think I’ll stop watching. She really is the only thing that is still keeping me interested in this show. I really hope Adam & Eddy weren’t dumb enough to lower Regina’s screen time for this “reboot” season. I can’t imagine that the majority of the fan base would be too happy about that.
