–“Ralph….wreck it.” I see what you did there, OUAT.
This annoyed me! I had deduced as soon as she said Ralph what their intentions were with him being Wreck-it Ralph, I wish she hadn’t actually said “wreck it” out loud. It really didn’t feel like a natural thing to say. It is one of those moments where if it had stayed subtle we all probably would have picked up on it as fans of the show, but they just had to spell it out for everyone else *eyeroll*
[adrotate group="5"]November 4, 2017 at 11:07 am #344155StahlopParticipantDo we know that Roger’s missing girl is the same as Wish Hook’s daughter? I figured they were using it as a parallel but that they weren’t necessarily the same person.
Also, have we figured out how long our fairy tale characters have been under this curse? And do they not age just like the original characters didn’t? I’m confused about how this Eloise Gardner can be real if they’ve only been cursed for a little bit. We saw Lucy in the alternate EF last season and she was the same age, so I feel like this curse can’t have been around for long. Is the guy who was arrested also part of the curse? If the missing girl is part of the curse and possibly Wish Hook’s daughter than my money is still on Anastasia.

See I thought they were probably the same person.

November 5, 2017 at 1:08 am #344180WickedRegalParticipantIn spite of so many changes to Tiana’s backstory….somehow it fit and was nonetheless satisfying.
Rating: 7.5/10
Liked:
Mama Bear Roni….all those side jokes about Roni being like a mother to Henry gave me Season 1 Feels! I absolutely love seeing a bit of Regina come out of Roni in terms of wanting to protect Henry and his best interests, and I definetly love that her bar has become like a second home for Henry. And that ending scene between her and Henry, with the photo from Henry’s childhood brought back so many memories, and I just…I loved it! The RegalBeliever Feels were real and I can’t wait till they get even realer next episode.
Tiana’s backstory wasn’t technically the Princess and the Frog, but it still sort of was. The twist in the end with the man in fact being the one cursed, and kissing his true love to turn back into a frog, and leaping away to live happily ever after with his true love was both surprising and heart touching.
Seeing Sabine work her magic in the kitchen was everything and definetly one of the highlights of the show. I almost wish a jazz version of Down In New Orleans was playing in the background, it would’ve been all the more fitting.
Ivy is climbing the ranks as a favorite of mine! Her EF Fashion and impish sassiness makes me realize now why folks on twitter see her as being more like a daughter of Regina’s than Lady Tremaine, but I’m hoping for that to not be the case, because that would mean Ivy’s crushing on her brother, and that’s just….please Adam & Eddy, no.
Mixed:
Dr. Facilier….he definetly seems like he fits the role of the Shadow Man, but I’ve gotta see more of him before I can make an official judgment on his character. I can definetly see him popping back up, and probably making a deal with Lady Tremaine.
Disliked:
So Jacinda, I understand you’re best friends and all with Sabine, but sweetie….you’re fighting your evil stepmother for your daughter….the last thing Tremaine needs to see/know is you homeless, broke, jobless, and living in a food truck.

November 5, 2017 at 5:54 am #344184hjbauParticipantI am glad that we know that Drizella is a villain more then just her attitude. I still don’t think it really makes sense that she would choose to be her mother’s assistant. That does not make sense, in my opinion, but if they lead that to she is somehow using that to play head games, i guess.
I am glad the chicken place is gone and i like the food truck as a project.
I am glad that Regina and Henry are more aware that there is a connection. I just think the curse is the least interesting thing going on here and just makes a lot of the storylines seem pretty stupid, so i am all for Regina regaining her memories.
November 5, 2017 at 9:23 am #344189hjbauParticipantI agree that the explanation of the kingdoms was a mess. Here Tiana is a princess, so her family are the rulers of some group of people. PeThere were pople who knew her at in the forest, that are poor and seemingly homeless and begging. Yet, Tiana is blaming the king who is throwing the ball, and obviously there is fault there, but it would also be Tiana and her family’s fault for not taking care of her people. I just thought that storyline was pretty poorly explained and thought out. Here Tiana is worried about selling furniture and stuff that sits around her house when there are people that are homeless and hungry right outside her door. It just made her seem ridiculous.
At least at the end she did make the right choice and helped the frog get his frog wife back instead of saving her father’s medal, but it still was just really messy and they still haven’t explained how the kingdoms fit together. Also, who is the king? He is the father of the prince who was killed by Tremaine, so does Drizella actually marry the second prince and then they kill of the king and Tremaine becomes ruler by default?
After all, there is ten years between what they are showing in the Enchanted Forest and the curse taking place, so there is time for all that to happen.
November 6, 2017 at 10:02 am #344207SlurpeezParticipantSo they made Tiana a princess of some sort, but only of a small kingdom within another kingdom? Do I have that right? I’m very confused about how her kingdom works. I also am not sure how I feel about her story being totally different.
I think she is the princess of a very minor principality that might then owe fealty to an overlord king. It would be very similar to the minor principalities that were technically under control of the Holy Roman Empire in central Europe until 1806. That would make Tiana a princess but her parents would also be a prince and princess rather than a king or queen.
I am still not feeling Jacinda, I don’t know what it is but she comes off as emotionally impulsive and a little mean. I mean who takes all the money and is perfectly happy throwing her roommate out of the apartment. If the show is going to do this they also need to show us her transformation and guilt afterwards. Instead we got some stupid line about how Lucy called her and talked sense into her. Didn’t buy it. But on the positive side I did like how she talked about how Tiana is always there to lift her up and that she now realizes that she needs to return the favor. That would have been way more effective if she had come to that realization on her own without Lucy’s pep talk and then have both her and Tiana decide to buy a food truck together as a friendship decision.
Dislike: Sadly, I’m really struggling to like Jacinda too this season. I really wanted to root for her and Henry to work it out. However, now I don’t really feel like she is worthy of him. I don’t know if it is the dumb way that Jacinda’s character is written or the way that Dania Ramirez plays the role. Part of the problem is that she comes across as annoying and whiny. The other problem is that Jacinda seems to flail about from one disaster to the next like she is always struggling to be an adult. At first, I thought that could be part of the dark curse, but now I think it is just part of the character. By contrast, Sabine, who is also cursed, still comes across as a capable, mature adult who at least resolves to try to fight back. Sabine strikes me as having a mature outlook on life, and she comes across as having a can-do spirit compared to Jacinda, who always seems to whine and have an excuse. Jacinda seems like she is always drowning and making poor choices.
I also wish we had Weaver and Tilly this week. After the amazing episode that was 7×4, it was a really big let down not to have them this week! I think they are going to be one of my favorite duos going forward.
Neutral: I’m also pretty neutral about Rogers’ ongoing investigation. Unless it turns out to have major relevance to the plot, then it’s hard to be excited about it at present.
Liked: Andrew West, in contrast to Dania Ramierez, is doing a very good job as Adult Henry, and he seems to hold his own against some very talented actors like Lana Parrilla. I’m really happy with the mother-son development that is taking place between Roni and Henry even though they are both cursed. I am curious to find out what will happen now that the photograph has been discovered. Will they pursue more evidence like an adoption record? Will they wake up soon? And I want to know why Ivy/Drizilla seems to want to gain the trust of Henry and Roni. Does she really want their help to break the dark curse to defeat her mother?
I liked Sabine in the modern day and the way she tried to rally Lucy and Jacinda. I didn’t love or hate Tiana’s back story. I just sort of watched without much reaction. I did like Sabine a bit more in the present day though. She had a free spirit and great attitude. I think the actress also has a lot of natural charisma that carries over on screen in a way that the actress who plays Jacinda just doesn’t seem to have so far.
Really liked: I really enjoyed the opening scene between Victoria and the mysterious witch! I thought their talk about belief and needing to root it out like a weed was really well done and well acted.

November 6, 2017 at 10:38 am #344210thedarkonedearieParticipant–Roni just happens to open a locker that has a picture of her and Young!Henry in it? Sure. That’s not overly convenient at all.
I’m pretty sure the photo was sticking out of the locker when it was closed.
Overall: 6/10
This episode was blah for me. I don’t really care for Tiana, at least not yet. Facilier was cool….I just hope we see him more later on. I thought the acting wasn’t that great in this episode. Jacinda was particularly bad again this week. I need to see more Alice, more Drizella, more creepy witch…and start getting some reveals soon…like who Rapunzel is and where Mother Gothel is and who cast the curse. Drizella being awake was a nice twist. The frog thing was so corny…but I didn’t hate it..idk. The episode was mostly filler.
November 6, 2017 at 11:17 am #344215RumplesGirlKeymasterPart of the problem is that she comes across as annoying and whiny.
Whiny is a good way to put it. She just has no moxie, she was okay in the season premiere but Jacinda is just getting worse with each turn. She constantly needs to be bucked up or convinced by her 10 yr old daughter and her roommate. Even cursed Mary Margaret had some of that Snow White oompf.
