First of two episodes tonight! What were your favorite and least favorite moments of “Eloise Gardener”?
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 17, 2017 at 9:00 pm #344624RumplesGirlKeymasterGENERAL: I like that this episode focuses on Hook’s obsessive tendencies like revenge, alcohol, and Rumple. It’s a big part of his character, WishRealm!Hook or not. Some of the story beats here are fine but because the episode focuses on a less developed story and the character in question is less exciting, it doesn’t maintain the same great quality as last week. And, frankly, the big reveal is DUMB, but very OUAT.
6.5/10
LIKED
–“An obsession can be a dangerous thing…”
–Alice selling stolen watches under a bridge seems exactly like something Alice would do.
–Giant Garden Gnome is super stupid but also super hilarious.
–“Why is women’s footwear the bane of my existence!” Okay, that’s the first time I’ve actually enjoyed Victoria.
–Rumple protecting Hook–even if it’s Cursed Wish Realm Hook–from himself is maybe the biggest sign of character development EVER.
MIXED
–Evil Queen’s appearance is welcome after many episodes without her but all Snowing had to do was steal the EQ’s magic? Lame sauce!
DISLIKED
–How does “many years ago” even make sense for the Wish Realm??? It didn’t exist until last year! (yes, I will continue to find this befuddling!)
–I normally really like Roni’s outfits but that polka dot necktie thingy is tragic.
–They’ve mentioned it so little this year that I legitimately forgot that Jacinda trying to get Lucy back from Victoria was a plot point.
–Hook climbing the tower without aid of the hair is a strange way to go. I know Rapunzel’s magically trapped but it’s an odd choice to not allow her hair outside to keep with the fairy tale story.
–Ivy leaving her dirt covered shoes under her desk seems very un-Ivy given how deep her deception runs.
–Magic flower yields a magic baby overnight! That is a dumb dumb dumb OUAT MacGuffin!
–Does Rogers not have a picture of Eloise?? Cause if he did, surely he would realize that young Eloise Gardener couldn’t a be an older woman with graying, multi-colored matted hair???
–NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Alice is really Rogers’s daughter! Uggggggh! I had so much #hope they wouldn’t go that route! BLAH!
–So how does Tremaine fit into ANY of this??? Is she Rapunzel? Is she Gothel’s sister/daughter/mother/not related at all? HOW?!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 17, 2017 at 9:00 pm #344625nonnieParticipantI had been confused by this episode till almost the end…. I thought Rapunzel and the witch looked so similar but I did not anticipate the twist ….
Beginning to fall in line with previous episodes – –
Great twist… loved the RAPUNZEL to witch change in the tower
Loved the witch being found by HOOK – Rogers ….
So everyone was right Alice is Hook’s daughter
.
LOVING all the twists . . .
.

I am glad that she is not the mother of Hook’s baby though. I would rather it be Gothel. This episode was like a bunch of nothing, plot, plot, plot, no character development, then a trick ending.
I still think that real Rapunzel is Victory, though maybe this is all they are going to do with it for now. Why is Gothel not older? It has been at least 20 years since Alice was born, possibly longer. Hook was pretty old. I guess she has magic. That’s why is the answer.
I think the idea of Hook staying and raising the baby is ridiculous. He would never do that. He sold Bae to Pan. He killed his father and abandoned his brother. There is no i am going to take care of this helpless infant in Hook’s character.

Liked:
Regina without magic was hilarious. She was whiny, her hair was flat, and her wardrobe left something to be desired. I loved it. I’d still like some backstory on how they stole her magic and how she managed to escape once they did. But I kind of like whiny, former, Evil Queen.
I had suspicions that Rapunzel was actually Mother Gothel, but it wasn’t until she started seducing Wish Hook that I was sure.
I think it makes perfect sense that Wish Hook would stay with his own child. Especially, when it was the child’s mother abandoning her. He obviously had a soft spot for his mother and considering how he’s been abandoned, he doesn’t want that life for Alice. He can’t even give her up because she can’t leave the tower.
Rumple is definitely awake!
Roni’s awake wardrobe. Notice how much more covered up she was in this episode
Mixed:
Are we ever going to find out why Victoria has custody of Lucy? Was she giving Jacinda leeway at the beginning of the season by letting Lucy live with her? If Victoria has legal custody why would Jacinda think she would get Lucy?
Dislike:
Rogers was looking for someone who was brushed off as a runaway teenager. Mother Gothel is much too old to be Eloise Gardner. Is he really that desperate to find her (and pin Belfry to the wall) that he’s glossing over this glaring fact?

I think they were assigning character development that our Hook sort of had and giving it to WishHook, who as far as we know, was still the same as our Hook circa season two. Would that Hook have taken care of a baby even if it was his baby (albeit via magical means)? I don’t know. Maybe he would’ve gotten some help. Maybe he would’ve sent Smee up the tower to raise the kid while he sailed off for a cure (and his revenge still)? I agree that seeing him just give up his ship and play nursemaid doesn’t fit that era of Hook based on what we know about him.
LIKED
Seeing Victoria get arrested. Even though it was part of Ivy’s evil plot I still enjoyed that scene.
MURKY
So are Cinderella, Drizella and Lady Tremaine all from the Wish Realm too? In this episode we see WishHook meet up with WishRegina to plot their revenges on WishRumple and The WishCharmings (all of it thirtyish years before we think Wish Realm was even created which still bugs me too) and all that stuff with the Tower and Gothel seemed to be happening in the same realm that they were already in… so is everyone from season seven a Wish Realmer except for our Rumple and our Regina?! Or am I just hopelessly confused?
DISLIKED
Hook and Not-Rapunzel making a magically aged baby in the tower. Eeeeeeeeeeeew. No wonder Alice is…disturbed.Again I’m disappointed that such an excellently written and acted character is not related to the Stiltskin clan. Seriously which family reunion do you think Alice would fit in at – The Jones Reunion or The Stiltskin Reunion?

Yup. Alice was so clearly impish in her introduction that I’m still surprised by all this; even if she wasn’t Rumbelle baby, she could be Gideon’s daughter. There were just other, more interesting ways to go about this without resulting in a magical grown flower baby.

Or was that just lazy writing on the writers part? They can’t be in the Wish Realm because it would have to be the same Cinderella, just without the curse having hit.

I think what they are trying to say is that WishRealm Regina gave WishRealm Hook a map that took him to EF 2.0, where Drizella/Tremaine/ect live.
