Pretty sure ABC forgot to release the promo photos that usually come along with the press release. Haha.
I suspect it has to do with Easter. Last year, the episode “Awake” was scheduled to air on Easter and we never got photos leading up to that episode (though we got our PR and a few sneaks). I don’t know why photos are always neglected for holidays but nothing else is.
The etymology of “Hansel” and “Jack” is interesting.
According to Behind the Name, Hansel is a diminutive if Hans, which in itself is a shortened form of Johannes, which is derived from John. And Jack is a nickname for John, so that makes me suspect Hansel and Jack are one in the same.
I’m assuming they are calling them the Candy Killer because they send the marzipan hearts to each victim.

Yeah I think that’s where this is headed. And it explains why the episode following is called “Breadcrumbs” which we all thought had a Hansel/Gretel feel to it but couldn’t explain why they would be inserted into a story in which they hadn’t actually been introduced thus far. Turns out, Jack is really Hansel. I guess…that’s one way to go. I would have preferred @gualtheria’s theory that Regina was being voodoo’d into doing it by Samdi but I guess it saves us a Henry/Ella/Jack triangle??

It also explains the first two victims. Assuming Jack is awake, he killed Dr. Sage because she knew Henry was Lucy’s father, and he killed the Blind witch because she tried to kill himself and Gretel back in the day. Maybe he dated Drizella at some point and that’s why she gets attacked this week.
